Everett had seen this moment coming a mile away, but seeing this young man, whose features eerily resembled his first love, still twisted his heart in pain. He truly despised the Dorsey family, loathed Victoria, and detested Tiffanie. It was Tiffanie's appearance that had

originally forced him into a humiliating bind with Victoria by the manipulative hands of the Dorsey family.

"You've turned out well, I've been looking for you, Mason, about your mom..." Mason pulled out a card from his pocket, his tone nonchalant.

"Everett, I don't know why you're here. Don't tell me you've been harboring feelings for this son of yours all these years."

Everett stepped back, stung by the confrontation. Of course, his heart held a place for his son. "How is that my fault? If it wasn't for that damn Victoria! If it wasn't for the Dorsey family! How could I have left your mom! It's the Dorsey family, all of us suffered because of them! Mason, I know it's late but only after the Dorsey family fell could I leave. You never met Victoria, you don't know how twisted they were!"

Now, just the mention of Victoria filled him with a bone-deep hatred. If it weren't for Victoria, he could have led a peaceful life, honoring his parents, raising his son in tranquility. The debt owed by the Dorsey family was immense.

"Mason, I don't have much to say. Don't give me money, I don't need it. This card, it's my savings over the years, keep it. If you don't want it, burn it for your mom. I'm sorry for everything, my greatest wish now is that you replace a good girl."

Mason wasn't heartless, he understood Everett's past desperation. So, the person his mother cursed the most on her deathbed was the Dorsey family. But after the Dorsey family's downfall, those who deserved retribution were gone, except for Everett's daughter. Mason remembered her existence because years ago, Victoria had sent his mother a photo of a young child. The sight drove his mother to madness, bedridden and plagued by illness thereafter. Mason disliked Victoria, and the girl in the photo. They were the root of all misery.

"Everett, I've found a partner now, you should leave this place, head back to Beaconsfield."

"Mason, wherever you are, that's where I'll be." Everett's face twisted awkwardly, humbly asking, "Could you take me to see where your mom lived?"

Mason frowned, pondering, but eventually relented, giving him the address and the keys to the apartment.

Back in the car, Mason's mood was sour. Tiffanie grabbed his hand, pressing it to her cheek. "What's wrong?"

Mason didn't want her to know about the mess, simply shaking his head. "Tiffanie, let me take you to where I used to live."

Tiffanie smiled. "Next time, Mason. I've got plans with friends today. Head home and start dinner, okay?"

Mason, ever compliant, didn't

question her After Tiffanie left the car, she made a point to confront Everett. Seeing him preparing to drive away, she nearly couldn't believe her eyes. Why was this

Scourge here?

As the car window rolled down, Everett glared at her. "The Dorsey family's bankrupt, Victoria turned mad, and here you are in North America. Clearly, the Dorseys have no heart." Tiffanie knew he would mock her mercilessly upon seeing her. "Everett." She called out, a slight curve to her lips. "I'm here to see my boyfriend."

"Boyfriend?" Everett almost laughed.

"Who would want you? Your mother Victoria was notorious, and you share her blood. I bet your boyfriend doesn't know the truth about your family. If he did, he'd probably run for the hills."

Everett always treated Tiffanie this way, wishing to shame her to death as if it would erase his own humiliation's suffered at the hands of the Dorsey family. He had a visceral reaction to any Dorsey, spewing venom at the sight of Tiffanie. Tiffanie appeared unfazed by his scorn.

Everett looked at her with disgust, thinking she was just like Victoria, unshakable. He opened the door, pulling her into the car. Tiffanie was gripped by the neck, pinned in the passenger seat, unable to move.

"Everett, if you're driving, could you drop me off? It'd save me a cab fare."

"You really are like your mother! Can't you understand human speech?!"
