In what felt like the thousandth time Kenzo had taken her to the heights of ecstasy, Irene suddenly realized she wanted to be with this man. "Kenzo, my dad thinks highly of you."

As their time together wound down, she murmured, fighting through the soreness in her eyes from the intensity of their connection.

But Kenzo was just leaning against the wall, holding a book that seemed to delve into psychology.

"Uh-huh."

His tone was so nonchalant, it was as if the woman beside him hadn't just shared a moment of intense intimacy but was merely a stranger. Irene couldn't help herself; she reached out from under the covers to grab him.

"Kenzo, I'm not ready to sleep yet."

Kenzo shifted his gaze from the book to her.

Irene, true to her name, was as radiant and striking as a summer storm. Yet, to Kenzo, she was merely the boss's daughter, nothing more.

Irene was all about adventure, irresistibly drawn to the unknown. She knew Kenzo didn't feel the same, but she was confident that, in time, he would. After all, her fascination with him was more about his allure than genuine affection. They were both in it for what they could get; no need to complicate things with feelings.

"If I stick with you, my dad will back you. You know we've controlled many with that drug. If you become the leader, you can do whatever you want."

She teased lightly with her fingers.

Kenzo set the book aside and pulled her into his embrace.

"Think you won't be satisfied?"

Irene chuckled, "That depends on how skilled you are."

Truth be told, she was exhausted, drained of all energy.

Yet, seeing him engrossed in a book right after their encounter was unsettling. Was her charm really less captivating than a book?

She slept for two days straight before she felt restored.

Kenzo hadn't stayed with her; he'd been called away on a mission.

Dressing leisurely, Irene descended the stairs to replace her father, Colton, seated at the head of the table, with others reporting to him.

Languidly taking a seat, she caught snippets of the conversation.

Ronald was captured, and the informants he managed were compromised.

But these were minor setbacks. Ronald was merely a peripheral figure; his loss, or that of those he managed, was insignificant to the organization. They were never short on manpower. en Narugi

As the room cleared, Irene spoke up.

"Dad, weren't you looking for a successor? What do you think of Kenzo?"

Her tone, unguarded and flirtatious, made no effort to hide her involvement with Kenzo. Colton, a man with a stern and brooding presence, had a soft spot for his only daughter. "He's promising, far more so than his father or grandfather."

Irene smiled, "Kenzo hasn't won Seamus's approval yet. They see him as just a tool. But now, he seems to have realized his worth. Dad, see great potential in him."

Colton sipped his tea, placing the cup down with a thoughtful look.

"You said the same about your last... companion."

Irene's smile didn't waver. "Dad, if he hadn't betrayed us, he would have been capable of leading. My persona interests aside, he was talented, wasn't he? In our line of work, it's crucial to choose a

successor wisely. Many are eyeing

your position."

A calculating smile crossed Colton's face. "You think I'm not aware? Kenzo is competent, but he's also inscrutable."

"Dad, who here isn't? The naive don't last long."

Colton tapped his fingers on the table, pondering before finally asking, "How sure are you he won't betray us?"

Irene, her smile broadening, admired the red polish on her nails.

"He desires someone from the Lynch family, a little princess. Our goals align, so betrayal is unlikely. We'll support each other." "Irene, don't get too carried away."

That man, Colton suspected, was heartless.

Having held his position for so long, Colton knew better than to underestimate anyone, especially someone as hard to read as Kenzo.
