Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1141
Irene flicked her lighter and lit another cigarette. This drama was finally reaching its curtain call. She owed Colton for his years of dedication to the organization, so she decided to see him off personally, now that his usefulness had run its course.
She slipped Colton a pill, temporarily giving him a jolt of energy.
"You never had a heart, kid. Your father handed you over to me, and I never thought we'd end up here, Irene. Are you sure about this?"
Colton genuinely loved her but knew she was as heartless as Kenzo.
Irene exhaled a stream of smoke. "Uncle Si, this is the end of our play. Tonight, you'll hand everything over to Kenzo. After that, you can retire in peace. Either I see you off, or you handle it yourself. I'm offering you this dignity because of all the years you've stood by me." Within the organization, everyone had a shared resolve, unafraid of death. Knowing Irene's decision, Colton had no objections left.
When he realized he truly loved Irene, he also knew he was destined to be discarded eventually. Men came and went in Irene's life, but he had always been the constant, the one her father had chosen, foolishly believing he'd be the last.
But Kenzo took that place.
He had warned Irene not to get carried away.
Now, he saw how much Kenzo and Irene were alike: two heartless madmen.
So be it.
"Alright, I'll grant you this."
Colton didn't wait for evening. He called the core members together immediately and, in their presence, announced his departure and the complete handover of power to Kenzo.
The members exchanged surprised glances. Though they had accepted Kenzo, Colton's departure was hard to swallow.
They didn't know that Irene was the true mastermind, with almost every move Kenzo made orchestrated by her.
Colton had never resisted any of Irene's demands.
Seeing their troubled faces, Irene just smiled.
"Dad, why don't you stay here? Just move to the villa in the annex to rest. That way, everyone can still visit you."
The significance of Irene's words was lost on them; she was sparing Colton's life, not demanding his death.
Colton didn't object. He was curious to see how far these two would go.
As Irene watched Colton leave, she lit another cigarette, taking a moment to herself before heading to Kenzo's room, settling into his embrace.
"Now you're officially in charge. Congrats, Kenzo."
Kenzo didn't look at her, his focus on the computer screen, eager to reunite with Brielle and their child, willing to pay any price for it.
After all the planning, he was ready for damnation.
Brielle and Isaac had found refuge in Noir's hunting grounds, where the animal reigned supreme with unmatched speed.
During a rest, Brielle almost got sick but held back, clutching Isaac tightly as she scanned their surroundings for any sign of pursuers. Her life was expendable, but Isaac's safety was paramount. en Narugi
"Noir, mighty, here, friend," Isaac's words puzzled Brielle, but the formidable Noir stood by, its ears twitching, ready to lead them fo safety in their concealed hideout.
Using his locator, Isaac reached out to King, who was caught in a fierce battle. Initially dominating, their
situation worsened as the Lynch et
family deployed an overwhelming force, and unexpected alliances against them formed, complicating their stand.
With grim expressions, King and Dustin faced the escalating conflict, their smiles fading in the face of this unprecedented challenge.
