Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 941
Max strode towards the car, his face a mask of grim determination. By the time they reached the hotel, his expression had darkened even more.
The banquet inside had just wrapped up, leaving the air heavy with the scent of fine wine and lingering laughter. Max stepped into the elevator and headed straight to the top floor. The smell of alcohol was even stronger there. Unlike most penthouse suites designed for relaxation, this one was a lavish bar meant for high-end revelry. Tonight, though, there wasn't any booming music-just the low murmur of the city's elite indulging in their private playground. Only four people were there.
Victoria was one, Everett another, and then there was Tiffanie, cruelly chained by the neck. The last person was the weasel-faced CEO of Blue Nebula Enterprises.
Max could hardly believe what he was seeing. What kind of mother would do this to her own daughter? Sure, Tiffanie may not have had the best start in life, but to leash her like a dog? It was beyond comprehension.
Max's demeanor was icy, but he kept his rage in check; he rarely let it show. Instead, he fixed Victoria with a calm, piercing gaze.
"What are you doing here?" she demanded.
Victoria trembled with fear. How had Max found out about this? Then she remembered that he was no longer the president of Dorsey International. He had no ties to the Dorsey clan anymore and might even face prison because of their influence. She lifted her chin defiantly, but her past fears of Max made it impossible to feel at ease around him.
Everett, seated nearby, had been dragged here by Victoria with the promise of some entertaining spectacle. Tiffanie was barely dressed, and with the spring chill in the air, her outfit was as good as nothing.
Max had no desire to talk to Victoria. Instead, he turned to the men who had come with him. "Unchain her," he ordered.
What kind of message did this send, treating Tiffanie no better than a dog offered to this man?
The hotel's security guards, who had accompanied him, moved to free Tiffanie without hesitation. But the lock around her neck needed a key, and the other end of the chain was anchored at the feet of the Blue Nebula Enterprises CEO.
Victoria realized, seeing Max's assertive entrance, that Tiffanie must have sought help and tipped him off. When Max was still the head of Dorsey International, he had rescued Tiffanie before. Back then, Victoria wouldn't dare cross Max and would reluctantly let her daughter go.
But things were different now.
She snorted coldly and pointed towards the door. "This is a Dorsey family matter. It's none of your business. Please leave." She didn't dare say "get out."
Everett, sitting not far from her, had a faint smile on his face, clearly enjoying the upcoming showdown.
Max ignored Victoria, his eyes locking onto the CEO of Blue Nebula Enterprises. With just one look, the man started to sweat. They had crossed paths before, but now, with Max's reputation sky-high online, why should he be intimidated?
"Max," he said, switching from the formal "Mr. Dorsey" to a more casual address. "As you can see, this has nothing to do with me. Miss Dorsey herself wants to give her daughter to me"
Everyone knew the CEO's dark tendencies. His wives had died one after another, all broken by his cruelty. He chose wives without
wealth or influence, knowing that if
they died, a simple payout would
silence any complaints.
His illegitimate children were many, yet he maintained the facade of a mourning bachelor, while no one in the social elite wanted their kin to be associated with him. Yet, there was no denying the power of Blue Nebula Enterprises.
Victoria's intentions were clear. She wanted to use Blue Nebula to boost her standing within the Dorsey family by offering Tiffanie in such a degrading, ruthless way. And there sat her supposed father, Everett, watching the drama unfold with a perverse interest.
