"Maxie, I just don't dig Mason."

Tiffanie's face was flat as she mentioned Mason. That one night with him didn't leave any sort of mark; the best she could say was that he was a decent guy. "So, you wanna stick around with Victoria?"

Max's tone was casual, not at all surprised by Tiffanie's choice. To be honest, she never really had a choice all these years, so she never knew what she truly wanted. Tiffanie stayed silent, clutching the blazer around her tighter.

Max wasn't the type to play the hero, pulling people out of their messes. If Tiffanie wouldn't make a choice for herself, no one could save her.

If Max hadn't shown up tonight, Tiffanie would never have the chance to turn her life around. Given her nature, she'd probably let the CEO of Blue Nebula Enterprises walk all over her until it broke her spirit, without a hint of resistance. "Tiffanie, I don't want you calling me again. I'll sort out the overseas arrangements; you just have to go along with it."

Max had his own issues to deal with; he needed to get back to Brielle.

Tiffanie stood still, soon to be left alone.

A few minutes later, someone came to fetch her, saying her flight was booked and she had nothing back home to pack. Max wanted her out of the country tonight, with three hours until takeoff.

This departure might mean she'd hardly ever come back.

Instead of feeling liberated, Tiffanie felt lost. At the bodyguard's urging, she couldn't help herself and dialed Victoria's number.

Victoria, her mother, was a whirlwind of madness, paranoia, vanity, and pretension, without a single redeeming quality. Yet as Tiffanie prepared to flee the bitter sea that was the Dorsey family, she couldn't resist the urge to take her along. But Victoria didn't pick up right away. It took three calls before she answered, and she started cursing the moment she did.

Once she tired of hurling insults, Tiffanie asked, "How about a vacation abroad?"

She chose the word "vacation" rather than "stay abroad forever."

As expected, Victoria unleashed another tirade.

Victoria's eyes were set on Everett. Right now, he was sticking around only because of the Dorsey family's clout. If they went abroad, with the emperor far away, wouldn't Everett feel free to chase after his first love?

Victoria would never allow such a thing. So to her, Tiffanie's offer to leave the country was nothing but a ruse.

Exhausted from the rant and without giving Tiffanie a chance to speak, Victoria instructed her to cozy up to the CEO of Blue Nebula Enterprises before hanging up.

Tiffanie chuckled at the silence on the other end of the phone, knowing all too well this would be the outcome.

Her eyes reddened as she fought back tears, calling her friends in Beaconsfield.

To outsiders, Tiffanie was a free spirit. She had friends in all walks of life, though many were the type others would deem unsavory.

After saying her goodbyes, she was ready to board the plane.

The bodyguard shadowing her ensured she didn't run.

Max was determined to get her out of the country, regardless of whether she'd kick up a fuss to return. That was her business.

At least Max had tried to save her. If

she was keen to dive back into the fiery pit of the Dorsey family, he wouldn't stop her. He didn't have the energy to spare for that; he'd done what he could.

As Tiffanie was about to board, Everett's call came through.

Ironic, considering that after all these years, this was the first time Everett had reached out to her on his own.

Everett despised her, just as he despised Victoria.

"Looks like you're leaving. You're

ver

filthy, and that won't change no matter where you go. I actually think Victoria was right to hand you off the CEO of Blue Nebula Enterprises. After all, you were born while Victoria was being played, your whole life has been a farce, and no one will ever genuinely like you. You'll just follow in Victoria's footsteps."
