MATED TO THE STRONGEST ALPHA -
Chapter Nineteen
*Selene's POV
The moon peaked in the dark sky. There were numerous stars, and it was a good night. There was a dinner party at the Belasco Hotel this evening. I was with Axel on the rooftop. We sat at the edge of the building, while our eyes were focused on the bright moon.
"So, what is your plan after this dinner?" Axel asked.
"Nothing." My answer was no life. I didn't know where to go.
"Do you want to go somewhere with me?"
I didn't answer.
"I want to walk in the park."
"This evening?"
"Yeah, there are no other people at the park, and the place seems to put my mind at peace."
I thought about what he said. I also didn't want other people to see me. I found it peaceful when I was alone or with people I was comfortable with. I didn't say that he was part of those people, but nothing wrong with him. Besides, we became friends and enemies at the same time.
"What do you think?"
"Sure. But..." I paused for a moment and looked at him. "But you will take me home after," I added.
He laughed and looked away. It made him even more handsome; the moon told me how important this man was. Even though I didn't want to mind my heart, it felt that I fell for him. I hope I can cope with this and don't feel the same heartbreak as before.
"Was it funny?" I asked him and turned my eyes to the moon.
"Nothing. I thought you didn't want to go anywhere with me." "I don't."
"Then why did you agree to join me?" He lowered his voice.
"I wanted to go to the park. Is there a problem?"
He didn't respond, so I remained quiet and looked at how beautiful the moon was. I remembered the old days with my friend Racael. When the full moon shows, we are always at the river to wish to the moon goddess. I missed my friend.
Before my disappearance, she relocated to another city to be with her parents. Since then, I haven't seen her anymore. But I hope when I meet her again, even if it's just once.
Minutes later, someone called us. His voice was not familiar, so I turned my back and looked at him.
It was a tall guy; his old look was not that bad. I looked at him until I realized that he looked like someone.
"This is my father," Axel whispered.
Oh, that was the reason why he looked like him. But his father looked more handsome than him. He even looked brave. I hadn't seen him before; maybe he was not at my welcoming party.
Axel stood up and offered his hand to invite me to stand. When we got down, we walked straight to his father.
"Are you the princess? You are beautiful." His father held my hand and kissed it. For a moment I looked at Axel.
"Nice to meet you," I said, so there was no problem at all.
"Are my parents there?" I asked the question.
"Yes, I was with them just before I came here. Shall we?"
He has a good attitude. When we first met, I remembered how good Axel was at my party. But then, his attitude shocked me. I hope his father was not like him. We got into the elevator, while Axel followed behind us. "How is my son, princess? Is he good to you?" Finally, his father asked about him.
I looked up to see Axel's face. I smiled at him and spoke. "No." Straight from my heart.
That was true; he was not good at me. He always wanted to see me suffering from the things he wanted. At least his father had a right to know about it.
"I was good to her. But she was not good at anything." As I expected words from Axel.
"You too look good together; do we not know something between the two of you?" There was teasing in his voice.
I was about to speak when the elevator opened. The one who got out first was Axel's father. I didn't know his name; he didn't even say it to me. Even Axel didn't tell me about his father. Since I met him, he hasn't told any stories about his family. Now, I was interested to know more about him.
None of us talked until we went to the place where our dinner would be held.
Soft music from the violin hugged me. There were no other people here than the five of us. My parents, Axel's father, me, and my heartless trainer. I walked straight to my parents and hugged them.
They had a small talk. I didn't know some of their topics. Besides, it didn't involve me. Not until my mother mentioned my plan to get enrolled. After my mom talked about it, I looked at Axel. I couldn't explain why he was the one I looked at. I wanted to see his reactions regarding my decisions, but I couldn't see anything. He was focused on his food.
He was not interested.
"So, when would you go to the city?"
I drank my water before I answered the question from Axel's father.
"The day after tomorrow."
"That was nice, right, Axel?"
He didn't respond.
"Is there something wrong?" I frowned while I asked about this.
"Nothing, darling. Axel studies at that university too. So, it means he would also be with you for the whole school year," my father answered. "Oh..." I nodded.
That was the reason why he didn't say a word.
"That should be nice. You two would get along together. At least we know that you are in good hands," my mother said and held my hand. "Nothing to be worried about; I will be fine. I can handle myself."
When I said those words, I saw Axel's shoulder move in a way that indicated he laughed at what I said.
"Is there anything funny, Axel?" I couldn't control myself, but I asked with respect. His father and my parents were here. It would not be good for them to see us fighting over a small thing.
All the attention was on Axel. He put his utensils on and grabbed the napkin. He slowly looked at me.
"You can handle yourself? Okay." It sounded like he was not convinced of what I said.
I didn't say a word. I continued to eat my food. I would talk to him later and discuss it. He had no right to look down at me. Yeah, he was strong, but I know that I could handle myself when needed.
