Baron
Those stupid brothers of mine, excluding Aaron of course. That one was a total idiot and a blatant fool. I had not been sure of this plan of mine from the onset but moving forward, I'm seeing how perfect it was for my plan.
I know what I was doing was quite the selfish act, not for Aaron's sake but for Katherina's. But without her, my plan would not be successfully executed neither would it have the level of tension and emotion-provoking reactions it was currently having. No matter what, I was going to finish whatever I had started, I just hoped Katherina would forgive me after this.
Nonetheless, the fact that she was my pawn in my own game didn't mean I didn't care about her. I do care about her, a lot. And it was somewhat surprising because I'd only known her for a short while. She was the typical shy, quiet and reserved nerd that was not just all those things people saw but she was more.
She was sweet, kind, nice and had a very attractive face and body, though I doubt she'd believe that. After that crazy scene at the school field, I had to take her out of there. I saw the hurt on her face, just as I knew they would be in her heart. Poor Katherina.
I buckled her in her car seat. She was still sobbing, though it was more of the silent, choking kind. My heart went out to her. I went round the other side, took the driver's position and zoomed off out of the campus. She'd had enough for today, she was going to be better off at home.
"You're going to be fine, Kathy." My hand rubbed her back affectionately, as the gate to the mansion opened.
I just hoped no one was at home to ask questions or be a witness to anything. I was not in the mood for another confrontation and it was going to be a lot worse if it was dad or maybe it was Katherina's mother. Now that I think of both of them going all parental, they were both wild, though in different ways.
Dad might not ask a lot of questions, especially if you're not willing to talk but he would not mind paying someone to have it checked out. Katherina's mom would badger you with questions until you grew a headache.
"I don't want anyone to see me in this state." She turned to me.
"I'll make sure the coast is clear before I bring you inside, okay?" I assured her.
She nodded, wiping tears that hung on her lashes. "okay, thank you." Her voice trembled slightly, signaling the oncoming of any uncontrollable tears.
I held her hands and smiled into her eyes. "Don't cry. Don't let them get the best of you. You're strong, act like it."
Saying nothing, she nodded. I also noticed she was idly touching the stone attached to the bracelet on her wrist. She always did that out of habit, I've noticed. "Okay, let me park in your spot and I'll go inside without you. I'll survey the place, and if the coast is clear, I'll come carry you." I informed her of my plan.
She nodded in agreement. "But why do you need to carry me? I'm fine. If the coast is clear, then there's no need to carry me."
"We still have to be careful, Kathy. We could be walking inside and my dad or your mom pops out from a corner, and I do not have the strength to explain why you're magically well, just when few hours ago, I had you in my arms, bridal style, coming down for breakfast." I explained.
"Do I hear someone complaining of being tired of lying?" She smiled. It was pretty but a bit shadowed by the events from earlier.
"No. An Alpha never gets tired of proving himself capable of everything and anything." I winked, infusing arrogance and confidence in my words and making sure she saw them on my face.
She usually hated whenever I go all arrogant and pompous on her, and this time, I was doing it for laugh sake. I wanted that pain out of her face. I needed her to eye roll and chuckle, and then tease me for being a haughty jerk. And as I wished for, it happened. She eye rolled, chuckled softly and shook her head. "Ever so full of yourself, Baron."
"Of course, being an Alpha's son has its own perks." I was smiling wide, happy she was making the effort to get her head out of what had happened in school today; both with the bullies and my stupid brothers and crazy Katelyn.
I never liked that girl. There was always something so ominous about her, I also did not see any reason why Aaron would defend her, that had been the height of it. They were all so crazy, all five of them.
I was just glad to be there, else they would have made caricature of her, bullied her more. I stepped foot inside the house and a quick survey told me those nosy couple were not home.
"Dad!" I called, I wanted to be perfectly sure. "stepmother!"
No one replied. Alright, no one was home, then. I went back and carried her into the house. I was about dropping her so she would walk by herself when stepmother came out from one of the many hallways. I was shocked as was Kathy too. "Why are you home so early?" She rushed towards us. "Was the pain too severe? You could not concentrate in school?" She faced me. "She couldn't concentrate?"
"Where were you? I called earlier." Where had the woman sprouted from? I'd called and got no reply before I went to bring her in.
"Uhm, I was busy inside." She replied, looking at us weirdly.
"And David?" Katherina asked.
"He has gone out. Urgent meeting." She informed us. "Okay, now it's my turn to ask the questions, and you both better tell me the truth. Why are you home so early?"
