Guilt squeezed my insides, pain was choking the life out of me. My heart was bleeding and my vision was blurry, tears were streaming in torrents now. A hand went round my shoulders and drew me close, I did not fight the offer of comfort. I went straight into Zach's chest and sobbed my eyes out silently.

It was not my Intention to make things bad for my mom, it was not my intention to make mom go through everything she had been going through ever since she had given birth to me. It was as though I was just the reason for her suffering and agony. Well, if I was honest with myself, I was responsible for it. In our former pack, she had been disregarded and hated on, she had a wolf but no one had cared about that. They were just too irrational. And they were too eager to label my wolflessness on her.

They had punished her for what they had seen to be a crime. My crime. They had ignored us, refused to sell to us or even associate with us and had finally banished us from the pack. An evening stroll and mom had seen her mate, a chance to start all over. But it would seem that was not working in any way, my wolf-less nature had caused more pain.

I wished I could let go, I wished I could just make everything better but I could not. I could not make anything better. I was still too scared to do anything. I raised my head from Zach's chest to see mom being consoled by Baron and Aaron. Trenton's gaze was just flickering from me to mom.

"No, he did not. Not literally though. But we had a huge fight and he sounded as though he could not accept such. He said it would ruin him, his reputation, and I did not want to expose my daughter to a negative atmosphere." She sniffled. "I'd rather lose my mate than have my daughter be unhappy because of something that was not even her fault. It's not her fault she was born that way. Not her fault the Moon Goddess refused to bless her with a wolf."

"You will go no where." Trenton had spoken, everyone turned to him with a surprised expression.

Mom sobbed louder, holding Trenton's hand. "And I thought you hated me. You never talk to me."

Trenton moved closer. "I don't hate you." Then his gaze landed on me. "Or Katherina." He removed his face, settling it back on mom's.

"You never talk much." Mom said.

"I don't hate you, and I'll make sure dad does not get his way. You're not leaving this house and neither is Katherina."

"I don't want the Alpha to think I came into his life for the money."

"Then if he thinks like that, I'd go with you and Katherina because it is possible he thinks that way of me too." Trenton said. I could only stare in shock. This was the longest Trenton had ever talked since I knew him and it was to offer mom comfort. Oh my!

Mom sniffled again. "You're his son, he can not think that of his own son."

"I was not." He said.

"Trent." Zach and Lucas called, Aaron and Baron stared speechless at him. Why were they looking at him like that? And what was Trenton trying to say?

"It's okay guys, they are family. I have no problem if they know." He shrugged.

"What do you mean?" Mom's attention was fully focused on Trent.

"I was adopted by David when I was twelve." Mom and I gasped. And it never occurred to me that there was a possibility of Trenton not being adopted. Never in a billion years would I have guessed that right. "True story." Lucas said from his position beside me. I turned to look at him, he nodded.

"I never had any mom or dad to love me. Before David met me, I was in a really bad place. My biological parents were the worst." He said, his eyes were alight with painful memories.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I never knew, even your biological mother?"

He chuckled bitterly. "She loved raising her hands at me all the time."

"What?!" Mom's expression changed, she was angry. Mom hated nothing than to hear that a child was abused by anyone. "Where is she?" She angrily wiped the last of her tears away. "How dare she abuse her own child?!" "Is she usually this way?" Lucas whispered in my ear.

"Yes. She had literally fought with a woman she had seen beating her child in our old pack." I told him.

"Oh wow! I'm scared of her right now."

"You'll be fine." I tapped his lap.

This night or morning was taking so many turns. Unexpected ones. I watched mom stopped thinking of her own problem, she was now hugging and patting his back. "You're in a better place now. Does this have anything to do with your quietness and aloofness?"

Trent went quiet, Luke answered for him. "Yes, it does."

She gave him a smile that was both sympathetic and motherly. She held his face. "You are strong, and you will get over this."

Trent nodded. "Now, back to you. We will make sure dad does not have his way here. I will make sure of it."

"Thank you for your help. All of you." Her eyes swept the room. "But I have to go. I do not want Katherina to be here anymore, I don't think he'll ever come to accept her situation. And I do not want anyone to keep my daughter under their roof out of pity."

"That is not possible." Aaron said.

"But he is the Alpha, Aaron. We can not deny the fact that he is not happy with Katherina's wolf-less nature. It will be too uncomfortable and awkward to continue staying here. I love you guys and believe me when I say it hurts me to leave you but I have to."

"What is going on here?!"
