"So why are you guys still awake?" Dad asked.
The whole family was seated at the family private living room. We were all huddled together well, except for Baron and Aaron who were both seated at different couches. Both had bloodied their lips, and still looked riled enough to not have a problem starting another mini war. I sighed. They were twins, not just brothers. They had shared one womb for months and had lived in their gestational home as one.
How could they be this mean to each other? How would they allow such things befall them? It did not matter the issue, they should be able to settle it amicably. Maybe now that the boys and I were repairing our once damaged relationship, I would ask them.
They all loved one another, no doubt. Even Trenton who I would never had guessed he was not biologically theirs but they had not mind, they still took him in, no discrimination. They had never used his background against him or who he used to be.
"Yes, why?" Mom was seated beside her husband. The joy and happiness that had been lacking in her eyes were back in full. Seeing her exude such happiness, made me happy to. I was happy she was having the life she'd wanted. I was happy what I was, was not in the way of that.
I looked round the room, my eyes on the guys, observing their expression and taking note of their reaction to the question asked by our parents. Their gazes also fell on me except for Aaron who was still looking pissed. Why had he gotten angry though? When Baron had kissed me again, why had he gotten angry? Did he like me?
He had behaved as though Baron had trespassed with me, and he was not happy about it. He had kissed me in the bathroom, and while it had been unexpected, I had liked it too. Enjoyed it too. This was going to be hard living with both of them under one roof. I did not want to lose Baron's friendship, it was too important to me.
And for Aaron, I did not understand why I wanted his attention. Why I was secretly wishing he would kiss me again.
"Katherina."
"Yes?" My response was so automatic. I had not been paying attention but as soon as I'd heard my name, my brain had quickly responded. I met mom's eyes.
"Why are you guys still up?" She repeated, staring pointedly at me.
"Uhmm..." Dad's eyes were on me too. I averted my gaze to look at the boys. What would I want to tell them? What could I possibly tell the both of them? That some guys had tried to harass me and the boys had almost been tortured to death. That they were somewhere in this house right now.
"If you guys refuse to say anything, by seven I want you all out of this house, going to school." Mom threatened.
Displeased groans could be heard from the lot of us except Baron. He did not go to school and was free to be where he wanted to be. He merely smiled and looked away.
"That's not fair, what about Baron?" Lucas stared at Baron who glared at him. But he did not even flinch, he stuck out his tongue at Baron.
But both parents said nothing and Baron crooked a victorious smirk on his face, Lucas narrowed his eyes.
"Who's ready to talk?" Mom's gaze roamed every one of our faces.
No one replied.
"Alright then. Go and use the little time you have wisely because you're going to school tomorrow." Mom concluded. She stood with her mate. "I'll be going to bed. And as for you Baron, get out of this house by the time I'm up." He frowned. "I don't go to school, where do you want me to go to?"
"Follow Kathy, you've always been doing that." And they left us.
"Good for you." Lucas was happy Baron had gotten punished too.
"How long does she want us to sleep?" I asked no one in particular. How would I be able to make it? I would not even be able to learn anything. I groaned loudly. The boys looked at me.
"You'll be fine. We just have to replace a room she won't replace us that easily to sleep." Lucas suggested.
"It's not a bad decision." Aaron glanced at his phone. "This is almost five in the morning."
"I think I know a room that will fit us all in." Zach opined.
"I'm down for it." Lucas agreed.
Filing out of the room in oneness, the boys - specifically Zach - led us to that room and soon we had found the room. I had never been to this part of the mansion before. The room was extremely big. So big it was enough to comfortably accommodate ten to fifteen persons, not exaggerating. What was this room for? There were five beds.
Lucas locked the door, preventing anyone from outside to gain entrance without our notice.
Everyone took a bed, except for Lucas and Zach who shared the biggest bed in the room, leaving the last one for me. I climbed in and felt relaxed instantly. "What about those guys? What if someone replaces them?"
"Do you think the room we had them put in was not hidden enough?" Zach asked.
I shrugged. "Mom can be very smart"
"And so can dad. I mean, how do you think he became the wealthiest Alpha in all the land? But don't worry, they won't replace those sexual offenders." Lucas replied.
I chuckled. "Sexual offenders, huh?"
"Yep. Trying to force themselves on you, that's what they are then." He insisted.
"Okay." I raised my head to check on the others. Trenton was on his phone, Baron was lying on his stomach, his face turned the other way so I could not tell if he was asleep or not.
To my left, Aaron had the same sleeping position but his face was turned in my direction, he was staring at me. Our beds were close, I thought I could handle him being close. Moreover, I thought it was a good thing that Baron was at the other far end and he being at this side of the room too. Aaron's bed was the last on this side, so no confrontations or fights or glares.
But then again, he was here. Looking at me, studying my face as though he was looking for something. And I just realized that our bed was too close. Too close that he could easily stretch his arm and hold me. That thought made my skin flush, I quickly turned away.
