The mate thing is still new to me. I want to accept Igétas without any doubt, but trusting someone without knowing him is going against nature. Yes I feel attracted to him, and yes, I feel complete with him nearby, but my mind needs more.

“I want to go on a date with you,” I say the words while I am looking at my feet. He doesn’t speak, so I look up at his piercing eyes.

“Wait, you want a date?” he asks, perplexed.

“You seemed to feel a connection with me straight away. I want that too, for this…” I point between us, “…to work. I do feel something for you but it is still unclear. I want to spend time with you.”

He scratches behind his ear looking unsure. “I’ve never asked a girl on a date before.”

“And you still haven’t, I asked you.” I say, smiling at him.

“It’s just, I’ve never dated. What kind of date would you like? Do you want to see a movie or should I take you out for dinner?”

I see that his mind is going wild. He is he is anxious, trying his best to stay put.

“I don’t care, maybe we can go somewhere where you can tell me a little more about mating?” I ask with little certainty.

“That sounds like a good idea.” He gives me an enchanting smile and rises from the bed to make his way over to me, kneeling before me. “Violet, do you want to go on a date with me?”

He takes my hands in his. I was just about to comment that I asked him first and it was my idea, when a little pulse comes off his hands. The vibrations are pleasing. Like joy and care mixed into a shockwave from his hands to mine.

I retract my hands and the feeling is gone. Igétas is about to say something when I put my hands back in his. Right away the pulsing starts. I break contact again.

There is a frown on Igétas’ face. “What are you doing? You don’t want to anymore?”

I smile a bright smile and take his hand and lay it on my cheek. Warmth spreads through me and I look him in the eyes.

“I feel it. I feel the gentle pulsing and the joy you give me with your touch. I feel it!” I say louder, not controlling my excitement.

Knowing that the date is still on, he wraps his arms around me and buries his face into my neck. That spot makes my whole body react and I feel the warmth spreading. It feels so intimate, so connected to him. It feels like he is my future, he is my home. I clasp my hands behind his head, keeping him in place.

I don’t know how long we are embracing each other, but after some time my bodyis getting tired of being upright and I let go. Taking the hint he lets go as well.

“When is the date?” I ask, and he takes a step back, looking me up and down.

“How about tomorrow evening? If your schoolwork isn’t too much?” I smile at him. He is so understanding.

“I like that.”

“How late should you be at school?”

“I need to get in around 8. A.M., because the principal wants to speak to me first. He probably thinks that I am taking a little vacation and wants to check if I was really out of the running or I was faking it.”

Igétas growls loudly and takes a step back.

“Sorry. Vasil doesn’t like it if someone is treating you unfairly.”

“Vasil is your wolf?” I ask and get a flashback of meeting Asfal.

“Yes, he is. He wants to come out and say hi. I told him it is too soon.” I am a little ashamed that he is right.

“It is better if I meet him another time. I know he won’t hurt me but I can’t…” Igétas shushes me.

“It is okay, we understand. Just know we both care for you.”

I nodded, and Rose enters the room without knocking.

“Sorry to interrupt but it is pretty late and Violet needs to go to sleep.”

I look at the clock and I am surprised that it was already 10. P.M.

“I will be outside when you need me.” Igétas tells me and leaves my room. Rose follows him down the stairs.

That was interesting. I am going on a date and I did feel the mate bond. Excited for tomorrow, I go to bed. First I need to go to school and then my mate will take me on a date.

“So Violet Visser, how have you been the last couple of weeks?” Principal Smith asks and he is pacing in his office. Making me nervous while I sit on a chair before his fancy big brown desk. Too big for his office just like the crazy-looking painting. I clearly see a naked woman in the abstract painting. Weird little man with his tiny glasses and round belly.

“It was a hard time, but I’m feeling much better. Of course, I still am a little bit shaky.” I answer as truthfully as possible.

“Yes, two dog attacks in the span of a week. You must be terrified.” He sits on his desk, making a little jump to make it.

I nod.

“You missed a lot of schoolwork young lady. I don’t know if you can catch up.” He says quietly.

“Well, I took the liberty to do some homework and Tiffany did give me all the assignments. I am proud to say that I am maybe only four days behind.” I say with a smile but Smith doesn’t look pleased.

“Four days is more than I thought. [1].” He rubs his beard.

“I had indeed time, but I was also dealing with trauma and…” He cuts me off.

“Well, I need to see the doctor’s note.” He takes a seat behind his desk, almost disappearing.

I stand, very irritated with his attitude. When I rise to my feet I say: “Then I’ll get you one. Am I free to go?” I ask and he nods to the door. The ass.

Leaving the office I stumble upon two teenagers who are looking at me and blocking my path.

They look familiar.

“Do you need anything?” I ask.

“Violet, we are Logan and Ethan. Igétas asked us to keep an eye on you.” Of course, Igétas has arranged some kind of bodyguard system. I thought he would just have someone looking from the trees. Hm, I need to speak with him about this tonight.
