Mathias (#1 The Chronicles of the Demon Wolf) -
Chapter 17
Another body dropped to the floor with bite marks on his neck and black liquid oozes out of the wound. Chelsea breathes in deeply before the back of her right hand reaches to her mouth to wipe the blood drip out. Memories flooded into her mind like a movie on play. Carefully, she maneuvers her own consciousness around the memories that aren't belonged to her. Arthur once told her that a demon wolf is gifted with memory reading by drinking the blood of the person they wanted to read the memory. It's a trait passed down from a royal vampire to another. A normal vampire wouldn't have such trait unless they were sired by the royal vampire. But drinking blood comes with a price. The thirst would be insatiable. Sooner or later, Chelsea would crave for more blood.
"In the basement, there's a hidden library. The entrance is on the south wall. The lock is located seven bricks down, eleven bricks across to the right," she says before blinking her eyes as if it's a switch to switch off the memories.
"Bring the artifact to me," Arthur orders his followers.
"Destroying the Heart...wouldn't it kill us too?" Chelsea asks him, watching him avoiding stepping on the pool of blood on the floor.
"The Heart was said came from the Moon Goddess Kingdom. It only affects negatively to those who weren't..." He trails off, looking at her with a smile. "How do I say this? Um...Let's just say it would kill those who were born normal. Those who were born peculiar, not so much affected."
"Such as?"
"Necromancer, geomancer, and those who practice dark magic never existed before. The bloodline of witches came from two rivalry sisters. One was good. The other sister, not so much. It was said that the bad sister mated to a demon prince from Hell. From there, dark witches came to life. All dark witches are born with demon's blood flowing in their veins. They don't grow weak when the Heart is corrupted. They grow stronger and immune to the negative effects." He nods to her briefly. "And you—you have Angel's blood in you."
"How is that even possible?"
"Because Mathias was born with it. All his siblings have Angel's blood. When he bit you, his Angelic DNA in the venom entered your body and fused with your DNA."
The bite scar on her neck stings at the mention of the unforgettable incident. But, Chelsea never thought Mathias was born with Angel's blood. She knows he's a demon wolf. She just thought he's just part Lycan, werewolf, vampire and a white witch. It seems like there's is more about the demon wolf that she is yet to discover. Now, she doesn't even know who she is. The life she had was no longer her own. She had become a different person since Mathias bit her that night. The pain was indescribable. It was like being skinned alive and burn on fire. Every night she could feel that sensation. Then, it all stopped after she took her first shift. She emerged as a new person from the pain.
"Sire..." Arthur's follower calls him.
The Daemon mastermind glances over her shoulder and nods to them. They put down the box on a table as Arthur approached them. The thing, he called as an artifact, has been secured. Chelsea's keen eyes scan the beautiful wooden box with hundreds of colorful gems around it. There are words engraved on the box but the language is alien to her. She knew the supernatural world has many dead languages because the clans that used those languages were no longer existed.
Arthur's hands reach to the box and slowly touching the engraved words. The gems glow under his touch as if it recognized him as the heir of whatever was kept inside the box. A smile never leaves his lips. His eyes glimmer like a kid celebrating Christmas. Whatever inside the box is surely powerful for him.
But what's in the box that made Arthur made his followers massacred all these people who were ready to sacrifice their lives to protect it?
"Bring it back to the Palace," he tells his followers. "Let's go, sweetheart. It's just sitting and waiting time."
They return to his Palace, the same castle that was once a prison. He called it as his Palace now, decorating the whole place as dark as the work he's doing. Chelsea isn't complaining. Arthur has been nothing but a sweetheart to her. He knows what she's truly desired. She wanted to make everyone who abandoned her feeling regret for doing so. Sometimes pain changed people to become who they weren't supposed to. To be honest, Chelsea was grateful that she turned out this way.
While Arthur leads his followers to the study room to secure the box, Chelsea returns to her chamber to clean off the blood on her skin and probably getting a hot shower after the hard day. As she stands under the hot shower, watching the blood flow down her naked body to the drainage, Chelsea thinks deeply of what she had done. She never wanted it to be this way but they forced her to be this way. All she ever wanted was love and attention from her family. Whenever her classmates brought their parents to the school for an event, Chelsea felt jealous. All she could bring was the babysitter who had been babysitting her for as long as she could remember. Chelsea wanted her parents to be the parents she needed. But for them, the pack comes first. Then, there is Mathias who only sees another woman who isn't his mate. Sad, but that's the whole truth.
Now, she's a lot stronger than ever. She wouldn't feel sad anymore just because he didn't want her as his mate. In fact, she wanted to thank him for biting her. He did her a solid makeover. But, it's not over yet. They're still connected through the mating bond and the blood ties. For the first time ever, the demon wolf in her mind growled at the mention of Mathias' name. It has every right to hate their mate and Chelsea isn't going to argue about that.
Out of nowhere, Chelsea dropped to the floor, clutching her head as excruciating thumping evades. Her breathing passage constricted while her claws extended and clawed deep into the floor. Her bones slowly shifted itself indicating she's about to shift again. This is an involuntary shifting that she had been experiencing lately. Her demon wolf growls louder and pounding its fists in her mind as if it's a sign to break free again.
"Kill Mathias!" It growls louder.
Chelsea begins to thirst for blood even more at that. She wanted to taste his blood in her mouth as she drains the life out of him. She wanted to rip him into ribbons. Oh hell, she wanted to torture him—making him beg for his death to be fast and painless. No hell in the world she would let his death quick. She wanted him to suffer. His death should be slow and painful.
"Chelsea," someone says.
Arthur manages to avoid her claws from slashing his chest at the very last minute before pinning her to the wall. Chelsea has no control on her demon wolf at this moment and attack him. She reversed the situation. Her claws embedded into his neck but he doesn't show any sign of pain. The moment his blood flow out of the wound, she could hear his strong pulsating heartbeat in her ears as if she placed her head against his chest. Her eyesight changes between her own and the demon wolf. Arthur recognizes the bloodlust in her eyes. The more she drinks blood, the more she would crave for it. But, he needs her under control. She's the only one who could control the demon wolf inside of her.
"Do it," he urges her.
For a moment, he sees the broken girl that he picked from the hospital after her mate almost killed her. Despite the brutal experience she went through, Chelsea is still as sane as day one.
He placed his hand on her cheek. "Do it, Chelsea."
Her canines elongated in her mouth, piercing her plum lips while her eyes fixed on his. She can't control much of her action right now but that's okay. He won't die because of her poison. Since he knew Mathias, he did everything he could to experiment on Mathias' blood although the latter never know about it. Maybe the blood cell died almost instantly after being extracted out of its host but Arthur used his father's research to keep Mathias' blood cell alive for as long as he could.
Arthur is immune to demon wolf's venom from Mathias. Since Chelsea's demon wolf created by Mathias, her venom would work the same as his. There's no proof Arthur would actually survive Chelsea's venom because there had never been a demon wolf created through a bite from another demon wolf. Now, he's going to replace out whether Chelsea's venom works the same way as Mathias.
Chelsea lost her battle against her bloodlust when her canines pierced Arthur's skin. He hisses for a few seconds at the burning sensation of her venom entering his veins. Instead of pushing her away, he pulled her closer. He let her greedily drinks his blood. When she has a better grip of herself, Chelsea wakes up from the control of her demon wolf and pulls away from Arthur's neck.
"Arthur, I..." she pauses, unsure what to say.
His blood is in her mouth, slowly putting her bloodlust at bay but she never meant to bite him. Not after all he had done for her.
Arthur grabs a towel from the sink and uses it to wipe the spilled blood from his neck. The bite already healed, leaving his skin brand new. He reaches for her and wipes the blood from her lips. Despite his cold hearted nature, Arthur gives out a sense of security and kindness.
"You did what you had to do," he says to her, smiling. Then, he frowns. "You're still in pain."
"Bad memories." Chelsea grabs a new towel and secures it around her naked body.
He put his finger under her chin and tilts her head to look deep into her eyes. "Allow me to take it away."
"You have enough pain as it is," she speaks, politely referring to his memories entering her mind when she drank his blood.
"I insist," he says firmly.
Chelsea nods in agreement.
A portal opens near the lake house. As soon as they step out of the portal, their eyes widen at the scene unfolds before them. A large horrifying-looking tree protrudes out of the living room, collapsing the east part of the house. Mathias runs to their home, shouting for their parents. Tanto rushes to the tree and his heart almost stops beating. Even though he couldn't see who is trapped in the tree, deep inside he knows it's their father.
"It's dad," he tells his brothers.
Even the link between them and their father is weakening. Ryker focuses on their link with their mother. Still pulsating as strong as ever but it's mixed with pain and darkness.
"Momma!" Mathias shouts, urgently looking for their mother under the rubble. "Momma, where are you?"
Ryker checks the untouched part of the house, running from one floor to another as he looks for their mother while Tanto aids Mathias searching under the rubble.
"I can't replace her," Ryker says as soon as he joins his brothers. "She's here somewhere."
Tanto crouches down and touches the red liquid pooled on the floor. "It's blood."
Following the trail of the blood, they finally found their mother trapped under a furniture which weighed by a large rubble. Although the furniture protected her from being crushed, she still suffers serious injuries because of the broken glasses and possibly hit her head to the floor when she collapsed. Using their strength, the brothers lifted up the rubble and move it away before lifting up the furniture. Tanto quickly rips the curtain and used it to wrap around their mother's injured legs.
"It's serious," Tanto says, checking Mira's legs. "Got to stop the head wound bleeding."
Mathias rips a small part of the curtain and uses it as a bandage to bandage their mother's head. He carries her bridal style while Ryker opens a portal for them to go back to the Council land.
But, before Mathias could step into the portal, he almost drops his mother to the floor. Ryker catches his body while Tanto takes their mother away from Mathias' grip. He groans at the burning sensation on his body, particularly around his neck. His demon wolf turns crazy at the back of his mind. His hands slowly shifted into claws, digging into his own flesh.
"Mathias!" Ryker shakes his body as if he's trying to pull Mathias out of the painful shift.
Mathias is groaning and growling as if someone is provoking him while he's in tremendous pain. The pain shoots into their mindlink, alerting his brothers of the actual problem.
"His mating bond..." Tanto tells Ryker while shielding their mother from a possible threat just in case Mathias lashes out. "Chelsea is mated."
A/NSorry, I took so long to update Mathias because right now I'm rewriting my previous books. Some of my readers told me that it's a bit confusing about The Eastern Werewolves Pack Series and The Southern Werewolves Pack Series crossover chapters. So, I'm going to separate these two series apart but the storyline would still the same. The certain characters would appear/mention in one another but the two series wouldn't be connected so that the two series could be read independently from each other. Take it as a parallel universe kind of thing. This is going to take time as I need to carefully rewrite it to prevent further confusion.
Okay, new book is coming soon title: Our Family Part 2 which involves our Jaxon and Kaya after the event of The Survivor. Please be noted that many characters from Jaxon's pack wouldn't make into the new book as I haven't plan for the 3rd book of The Eastern Werewolves Pack Series just yet. (Fingers crossed on the 3rd book). Our Family Part 2 is coming this week, hopefully.
Stay tune.
Much love!
