Alpha Owen roars in anger when he hears his Beta, Edgar, about his daughter missed her training again. This isn’t the first time the Alpha’s daughter, Chelsea, skipped her training. In fact, she never shows up to any of those training. Owen doesn’t want her to be a woman who doesn’t even know how to defend herself. Many packs trained the female werewolves as equally as the male werewolves. His pack is no different but it seems his daughter is testing every bit of his patient he has for her attitude. He knows it’s partially his fault for pampering her since she was born. Now, she doesn’t even bother to take note of what’s happening in the pack.

“Where did she go?” He asks his Beta, swallowing his anger down in the hope to replace Chelsea back.

“A few of the Enforcers saw she left with her friends when the training session started,” Edgar replies. “I sent two Enforcers to tail her. According to them, she’s having a shopping spree at the mall.”

“Tell them to bring her home at this instant. If she refuses, I’m going to take back her credit cards.”

Owen doesn’t want to go that direction of taking his daughter’s financial support but he has no choice. Chelsea has gone too far this time. He can’t let her goes on like that. What his pack will say about it if they hear their Alpha’s daughter doesn’t train at all? Everyone in the pack knows the training is mandatory for the greater good of everyone. It’s not like Owen will place his daughter on the front line in the case of an attack. He just wants her to able to defend herself.

“Yes, Alpha. I’ll get on it.”

Owen groans silently in the office as he thinks of what to do about his daughter. As she ages, she’s getting harder to control and her attitude is getting worst. She uses her status as the Alpha’s daughter to her advantages.

“Hey pops.” Sebastian enters the office. “Sis is gone again?”

Unlike Chelsea, Sebastian has a better sense of duty and responsibility. Perhaps, he knows he’s going to be the future Alpha of the pack and needs to set a good example for his people. Owen is glad that his son is taking his duty seriously.

“Did you finish packing up?” He questions.

Sebastian is due to leave from the pack in two days to start his Alpha’s training in the Council. It is mandatory for all Alpha blood to attend the training for four years. Owen did his training before he took over the pack. Now, it’s his son’s turn to do the same. Sebastian displays a strong characteristic of an Alpha. Since he was thirteen years old, he trained himself to fight and defend. He trained to carry the duty of an Alpha. That’s one of the many things Owen admires about his son.

“Yeah, I just finished earlier.” Sebastian sits down. “I’m nervous about the training. What if I fail to live up to your expectation?”

“I don’t expect high from anyone, son. I want you to do your best during training. It helped me. Hopefully, it will do the same for you.”

“But, what if I fail in the end?”

“The training isn’t something that is graded using numbers or scores you earn. The training is to help you to build up your physical and mental attributes. Also, they’re going to teach you how to plan and execute your strategy. Consider it as a character’s development. Not some sort of exams you take in school. If you fail in the end, it means you need to train more. Don’t give up after one failure.”

“I will do my best, pops.”

Chelsea and her friends giggle as they make into the makeup store in the shopping mall. They already have dozens of bags in their hands but that doesn’t stop them from going for more shopping. Being an Alpha’s daughter comes with many privileges.

“Should we get this perfume too?” Tiffany shows the expensive perfume bottle to her.

“Hmm,” Chelsea inhales the sweet aroma. “I love the scent. I think I’m getting one too.”

They keep on getting more stuff from the store before Chelsea spots two of her father’s Enforcers waiting for her on the front. She storms her way to them. This must be her father’s doing. No one else has full authority to send the Enforcers out other than the Alpha himself.

“What are you two doing here?” she demands them.

“Alpha requested for your return immediately,” Carlson replies with a stern voice.

“I haven’t get my nails done. He can wait,” She turns her heels and walks away.

“Your credit cards are frozen.”

Her jaw drops to the floor and she spins around abruptly until she can hear her spine making a cracking sound at the sudden movement. Anger bubbles inside of her for what her father did to her credit cards. He has no rights to control her life this way. Chelsea goes back into the store and informs her two friends that they need to come back to the pack mansion right away. Tiffany and Lauren pout at the instruction but they follow her to the car along with the two Enforcers.

In twenty minutes, they arrive at the pack mansion. Chelsea’s mother, Lynn, is already waiting at the stairs. Chelsea walks to her mother with her upset face.

“Mom, did you hear what daddy did to my credit cards?” The younger woman complains.

Lynn places her hands on Chelsea’s arms. “Honey, your father is very upset about what you did. I suggest you don’t upset him even more. He has enough things to worry about.”

“Mom!”

“Is that her?” Her father, Owen, comes out of the pack mansion.

His face wrinkles in disappointment and upset.

“You’re finally back.” His words serve as a mockery to the younger woman.

“How could you do that to me?!” Chelsea shouts at her own father.

She never takes good note of what’s happening in the pack. Let alone taking good note of her father’s burdens. In her perspective, she’s old enough to decide what’s good and bad for herself. She doesn’t need her parents to control or deciding things for her.

“Chelsea!” Her mother shouts to her with a warning tone.

Nobody in the pack is allowed to disrespect their Alpha. The same rule applies to the Alpha’s family. He’s the head of the family and also the head of the pack. Everyone needs to obey his commands even if it upsets somebody.

“Sweetheart, it’s alright. It’s not like she ever respects her Alpha. Let alone her own father,” Owen says to his mate. He turns to face Chelsea. “You’re going to attend Alpha’s training in two days with your brother. Pick your stuff and get going with it.”

He walks away without another word.

Chelsea can’t believe what she has heard from him. From freezing her credit cards to sending her to the Alpha’s training earlier than expected. She turns to face her mother who only shakes her head. Even the Luna agrees to what the Alpha has decided.

“It’s for the best, honey. Just listen to your father this once,” Lynn mutters. “Please, honey. Don’t make this harder than it already has.”

“Mom, he promised not to send me to the Alpha’s training until my 23rd birthday!”

“You’ve crossed the line plenty of times. Your father is losing his patience with you.”

“B-But—” she stutters, unable to fight back her mother’s words.

“No more,” The Luna warns her. “You’ve disrespected your father when you skipped all those training sessions he provided to you. I’ve witnessed enough burdens on your father’s shoulders. As his daughter, it was your duty to ease his burden. Instead, you added more. So, no more. I will not tolerate any of your endless whining from now on.”

Chelsea storms into the pack mansion and heads to the second floor where her bedroom is. She’s angry at both of her parents for agreeing with the arrangement. Even more, she’s angry at her mother for taking her father’s side just like that.

She stops when she sees Sebastian has just left his room. She’s not like him. He’s a guy and training is essential for him but not for her. Why does she need to train when there are enough Enforcers to protect everyone?

“You’ve crossed the line again, sis,” Sebastian says as he walks towards her.

She crosses her arms. “You’re going to rub that on my face too?”

“Are you still expecting your future mate to risk his life and protects you all the time?”

“Aren’t that the duty of a male mate? Won’t you do the same for your future mate too?”

“Then, you’re naive more than I thought you to be. Sure, your mate will protect you but at the same time, he wants you to able to protect yourself. Take a good look at mom. She trains with other female Enforcers because she wants to protect dad just as much as he protects her. A mate’s duty isn’t a one-way street, sis. It’s what we call teamwork. I guess you don’t even know what that means because getting your nails done is far important than saving a life.”

Sebastian bends his knees a little to match her height as he goes on, “You see, you’re the Alpha’s daughter but you’re acting like a brat. You were supposed to be a good example to your fellow comrades. But, you’re weak, annoying, and hopeless. No one wants a damsel in distress as his mate. I have to live with the annoying fact that you are my sister. For that, I have to protect you just like how I protect everyone else. But, don’t get me wrong. If I have to choose between you and everyone else, I won’t hesitate to sacrifice you.”

Chelsea can’t form a word to reply to him. Her hands clench on her sides and she’s nearly lost herself to the temptation to shift into her wolf form to fight him.

Sebastian gives her a deadly look. “You don’t know how dangerous the world we’re living in. One day, you will realize it. By then, it will be too late.”

His words are hurting her in a way she can’t imagine. He’s her brother. He’s supposed to take her side. Her glare bores to his back as he keeps on walking to the staircases.

“Chels, are you okay?” Tiffany tugs her arm.

“Do I look okay to you?!” Chelsea outbursts to her friends.

“Come on, Chels.” Lauren intervenes. “Everyone’s having a bad day with the trespassing earlier. I’m sure Sebastian didn’t mean what he said.”

“Ugh, just leave me alone.” Chelsea storms into her room and slams the door.

She throws her shopping bags to the floor and tosses her bed in anguish. Her entire family turns their backs against her. Now, she has to attend the Alpha’s training or face severe repercussion. Once a name is registered for recruitment, there is no other way to withdraw the name from the list without facing repercussion.

“I didn’t even ask to be born as a werewolf!” she screams.

Her wolf whimpers at her statement but Chelsea shuts it away from her mind. She locks herself in the bedroom seems like for ages. She doesn’t want to leave her room and face everyone. It will just anger her more. If she keeps locking herself in her bedroom, then maybe her father will change his mind.

“Honey, the dinner is ready.” Lynn opens the door of Chelsea’s bedroom.

“I’m not hungry!” She tosses a pillow to her mother’s direction.

But, someone else catches the pillow. She gulps when she sees her father’s angry expression.

The Alpha throws the pillow to the floor. “One more time I catch you being rude to your mother, you will spend a week in the dungeon. Now, get to the dining room and eat your dinner.”

Fuming with anger, Chelsea walks out of her room and heads to the dining room just as she was expected to. Sebastian is already there waiting for everyone. His smug face makes Chelsea bubbles with more anger. Everyone always sees Sebastian as the perfect one in the family. They acknowledge him as the true heir of the Alpha. That is why Chelsea never bother to compete against her brother. She knows she will lose if she tries that. Sebastian excels in everything their father does. It is safe to say that he’s the only one who will replace their father.

But it’s okay for her. She will leave the pack for the Alpha’s training. She doesn’t have to put with her parents for a while. Until that day comes, Chelsea will just do her own thing.

This is my first time writing a character like Chelsea. I'm sorry if it's annoying or something.
