Lynn walks into the master bedroom after days of interrogation. The search and rescue team still couldn’t replace her daughter, Chelsea while Sebastian’s cold body was found amongst the dead. Missing both of her children is unbearable for Lynn. The moment she received the news about Sebastian’s death and Chelsea’s MIA, Lynn lost control of her emotion.

She sits by the makeup desk and grabs the family photo that she kept there. Her tears fall down like a waterfall. Her body trembles. She knows she’s at fault for neglecting Chelsea when she was a child. Chelsea was different from other kids. She wasn’t as thriving as other kids. She was always by herself. She refused to ask for help when she stuck on her homework. From a young age, she wasn’t depending on her parents. Lynn and Owen neglected her while they groomed Sebastian to be an Alpha.

“Even if you were crying blood, nothing would change,” a voice speaks.

Lynn almost drops the photo when she sees the reflection on the mirror. Chelsea is standing behind her.

“Hi, mommy,” she says with a sinister smile.

Her eyes are no longer of her own. It’s the demon wolf’s eyes. Her smile holds so much wickedness. Her presence is cold and empty as if she is nothing but a vessel to a demon wolf.

“Aww, you’re holding the perfect family photo,” Chelsea says, holding the photo. “Did you know Sebastian died? You’d probably didn’t know except for hearing there was a hole on his chest.” Chelsea bends down to level with her mother. “I punctured his chest and grabbed his warm and beating heart out.”

Lynn is shocked. Her breath changes. It becomes shorter and faster. Chelsea smiles as she reaches for the perfume Clair de lune that she bought for her mother.

“When I was a kid, I was the weakest in the family. You’ve always praised Sebastian for being the strongest one. But, I’d guess he wasn’t strong enough when I killed him.”

Then, her expression changes to sorrow. “Why did you hate me, mommy?” Chelsea kneels beside her mother, putting her head on Lynn’s lap as she cried. “Why didn’t you love me as much as you loved him?”

“Mommy loves you always,” Lynn stutters while she caresses Chelsea’s hair with her trembling hand.

“I want you to spray that perfume. I’ve missed it,” Chelsea says, pulling away.

Lynn nods. “I’ll do as you say.”

She opens the cap and sprayed twice on her wrists before proceeding to tap her wrists on the side of her neck and shirt. Chelsea watches with a smile on her face. Then, Lynn begins to feel dizzy. She gets up, stumbling her way to the bed. She becomes breathless out of sudden. Her hands and legs feel numb. She couldn’t move a muscle except for her eyes. Chelsea quickly helps her to get on the bed and tucked her in.

“Shhh, it’s okay,” Chelsea mumbles as Lynn takes a deep and hard breath. “When I was with Arthur, he taught me a few things about werewolf’s weaknesses. He created a poison that he called Scent of Death. A tiny drop to the skin, that’s all it needs. The first few symptoms are breathlessness, dizziness and paralyzed. Also, it blocked your mating bond which means daddy won’t feel your pain. He wouldn’t know about it.”

She leans to Lynn’s ear and whispers, “You’ll die slowly and painfully in two days. There’s no cure to it. Any magical healing will only accelerate the poison. You will feel pain on every part of your body. You’d feel like you’re being boiled. Your body will slowly dissolve from the inside. By the time you’re dead, it will be just bones.”

Chelsea’s ears pick the sound of footsteps coming from outside. She hides in the bathroom but keeps the door slightly ajar. Owen walks in through the door and puts down his items on the desk before heading to the bed.

“Lynn?” Owen calls as soon as he realizes something is wrong with his mate.

Lynn is struggling on the bed. The poison has paralyzed her vocal cord as well. Chelsea smiles when she sees the horror on Owen’s face. He touches Lynn’s wrist trying to determine what happened.

“I’d get a doctor,” he says in panic and rushes to the door.

Before he can get a hold on the doorknob, he collapses on the floor. He infected himself with the poison on the moment he touched Lynn’s wrist. Chelsea comes out of the bathroom and crouches next to Owen. His eyes are bulging at her presence.

“You shouldn’t have touched her. I thought you were smarter,” Chelsea says with a small laugh. “Not so strong anymore, aren’t you? Hmm, let’s estimate how long it will take for you to die. You have Alpha’s blood and that gives you three to four days at most. But, you see, mommy isn’t going to hold that long. When she dies, then that’s your punishment. The pain of losing a mate and the pain of the poison.”

Chelsea carries him to the bed and tucks him next to his mate. “Our family could have starred in a soap opera.” she walked in front of the bed. “Too bad, Sebastian wasn’t here to experience this with both of you. It would have been perfect.”

She stands before both of them and smiles brightly. “That concludes our final meeting today. Daddy is going to watch mommy die first. Even if they manage to replace a cure for you both, it will be too late.”

She leaves the master bedroom through the window. Chelsea lands on the ground and runs into the forest. She keeps running and eventually stops when she suddenly vomits. She got hurt on her left torso. It makes her wonder how it survived. Her brows pull together as she tries to think.

Instinctively, her hand touches her belly.
