Message from an Angel
Chapter 14 Rainbow's

Beth spent the next few days with Rhydon as she awaited replies from the jobs she had put in applications for. Today they took time out and were walking hand in hand through the park, Rhydon still had his powers and pulled a few little tricks here and there making Beth laugh. He adored her sweet giggles. Rain clouds started forming above them and Beth gazed up.

“So is anyone in a bad mood up there?”

Rhydon laughed at her silliness. “No, the weather still does its own thing.” He flicked his hand and a large umbrella appeared sheltering the two of them just before the rain started coming down.

They watched people race for cover as the rain came down heavier, Rhydon stood closer to Beth and reached his hand out to brush a lock of hair away from her face.

“I’m so glad you said yes.”

“What do you mean?” Beth threw him a puzzled look.

“When you replied to me the first time, my dad went mad at me for having a bit of fun, I’m so glad I got to meet you and have this chance of love with you.”

“Mmm, who would have thought that a message from an Angel would change my whole world.”

Beth reached up and pulled him down for a kiss, the rain turned into a golden shower around them as they kissed. Beth pulled back as it caught her eye and Rhydon smiled.

“If I could turn all the tears which you have cried in the rain, to golden droplets of love for you I will. I love you Beth and I will shower you with that love for the rest of your life.”

Rhydon had been doing little things for Beth to show her what she meant to him. Beth was close to tears and about to tell him how sweet he had been. As much as she wanted to tell him that she had fallen deeply for him she wanted to be sure she wasn’t just saying it back to him for the sake of it. She wanted to be sure, she did truly love him, her phone interrupted their moment when it rang.

“Hello?” Beth quickly answered it.

“Good afternoon Beth, I have received your application for a senior position within my company Slaters Solicitors and would like you to come in for an interview.”

“Oh yes, that would be fantastic. I'm available anytime.” Beth bit her lip and her excitement showed.

“Excellent, how about tomorrow morning 10am?”

“I will be there.” Beth had to contain her excitement as Slaters were one of the best solicitors in the city. She bid him goodbye and started bouncing about in excitement.

Rhydon’s broad laugh reached his eyes and he picked her up in his arms. “See everything is working out for you now.” He let her back down and absorbed her lips with his, and explored her mouth with his tongue.

The rain had stopped and produced a rainbow which seemed to be brighter than normal. Beth gazed up at Rhydon and he gave her his winning smile as if he was hiding something.

“So, is there ever a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow?” Beth ran her finger down his chest.

“Mmm, depends on what you think is a pot of gold? Not all wishes are solid items, some may be the simple things. Maybe you go chasing a rainbow to replace you never catch the end but it leads you to replace something or someone?”

Beth smiled at his answer, in some way it was true. She remembers asking her dad when she was seven years old to help her get to the end of a rainbow, (which was miles away) he drove them in the car as she was so excited. After chasing it and never reaching the end before it disappeared, they ended up next to a river and found the perfect spot for a picnic. The following day the sun shined and her dad packed them a picnic and they spent the afternoon as a family in the new favourite spot.

“See, if you look for something you end up replaceing it.” Rhydon’s eyes gazed deeply into Beth’s, he had been lost in his life as an Angel and replaceing her, he knew she was the reason for his existence.

They wandered back home arm in arm and spent the rest of the evening together talking about what Rhydon could do as a job. He was a talented talker and Beth joked that he should become a sales person or a comedian. Rhydon preferred the option of becoming a comedian and ended up having Beth in fits of laughter as he told some jokes about heaven, the Angels and Demons. He was sure his dad would be rolling his eyes at him at his stupidness.

The next day Beth had herself ready to go for the interview. Turning up outside Slaters, Rhydon wished her luck and kissed her before she went in. She smashed the interview and Mr Slater offered her the position and to start the following week. Beth came out and rushed into Rhydon's arms.

“You got it.”

“Yes, I start next week.”

“I knew you would get it.”

“You didn’t have anything to do with it did you?” Beth stopped and looked at him suspiciously.

“No, you did this all on your own.”

Happy that he didn’t have anything to do with it, Rhydon took her out to celebrate. They ended up in a local restaurant for lunch, everything was working out slowly for them both. They ran through a few possibilities for what Rhydon could do on a serious note for a job even if it was something part time to start with.

With Beth starting her new job, Rhydon was left at home trying to replace jobs for himself. Time went by and he easily found himself getting bored and thinking up ways to get up to mischief. He was out one day as he was going to meet Beth for lunch and he came across James and Laura, a smile crept up on his face. Could he play a joke on them whilst he waited for Beth? Damn right he could, his eyes gleamed as bright as his smile.
