Miss Marvelous: The Pit Fall -
Chapter 6
Today was a good school day for me. Although I still avoided Caleigh and Rachel (though it felt like they avoided me).
However, I finished my animal food chain project. I handed it in to Mr.Cashol and he was impressed.
And in my math class we had another quiz (it was surprisingly short, with only six questions max) and I aced it!
I felt the pride building up inside of me as I told my aunt, uncle and my cousins about one of the best school days I’ve had in a while at the dinner table until we heard a thumping noise.
Stumbling into my aunt’s dining room, was a young man (in his 20′s) with purple bruises and bleeding cuts all over his body.
Me and my relative’s eyes went wide, before giving me a glance and rushed over to help him. My aunt Wendy and my cousin Hannah helped the young man lay down on the floor, after my other cousin Rachel ran to the bathroom to retrieve the gauzes from the first aid kit.
’Miss Marvelous will save us” rasped the man as Wendy and Hannah began to tend to the wounds. My cousin asked what happened, but she just got the same reply.
There’s only one way to replace out, I thought before I quietly snuck away from the bloody scene and stepped into my bedroom.
As soon as I did, I felt like my bracelet knew what I was thinking, and it started to glow white. My clothes instantly changed into my superhero outfit.
Thanking the bracelet in my head, I climbed out of my window, shapeshifted into a harpy eagle and flew up high to examine the streets below.
Citizens were fleeing from buildings, sidewalks and vehicles.
Where is the danger? I thought, as I flapped my white wings, hovering in midair.
People are running away, but from what?
I craned my neck up above me and saw why they were fleeing in terror. An airplane was diving nose down towards the black city street pavement, gradually picking up speed as it spiraled in circles.
Crap, that thing is going to explode once it crashes.
I flew towards the out-of-control airplane and once I got close enough, I shapeshifted into a massive thirty-foot-tall tyrannosaurus rex and grabbed a hold of the plane with my jaws. Gripping it enough to carry the plane (and without crushing the passengers inside), I carefully placed the airplane up on a building with a flat rooftop, so they could get out safely.
As soon as I let go of the plane, I felt a shock of voltage hit my left side, causing me to wince. I turned my bulky head to my left and saw a black lizard riding a hoverboard
What in the name of...
“Hey dumb dino!” taunted the lizard.
“I bet you can’t catch me!“.
The black lizard held up a little girl by the ankle, before it let out a cackle of laughter and began to speed away from me, bringing the innocent girl along for the chase.
I let out a loud snort from my nostrils, before I started to pursue the annoying reptile.
Great. Another villain to take down, just what I need.
Just when I finally catch up on my schoolwork, the city-.
All of a sudden while I was distracted with my own thoughts, the small black lizard appeared to the right of me and teleported a car to hit me in the jaws.
BAM!!
The vehicle smashed into my tough scaly skin, creating deep bloody gashes. After I was knocked back by a couple of steps due to the heavy impact, I scanned the area down in front of me for the mischievous lizard, starting to get frustrated with the villain.
But he was nowhere to be found. Glancing around one more time, I shapeshifted down back into my human form, to see if I could spot him from a lower angle.
“Where are you, stupid lizard??“I murmured under my breath, as I continued to search for it.
As the regular traffic on the road and the blobs of pedestrians began to flow again, I wandered down a dark alleyway in between two apartment buildings, with a strong feeling that the lizard was down here.
While cautiously walking forward, I accidentally bumped into something dark and sticky. When I stepped back, the dark thing turned out to be the young girl that the lizard had kidnapped earlier.
Her body was covered in a thick black cocoon, with her head and neck sticking out of it. The girl was dangling upside down from a clothesline that was strung in between the two buildings.
However, there was something wrong with the girl’s eyes; they were completely white and slightly emitting light.
“Hey, can you hear me?” I whispered, waving a hand in front of the girl’s neutral face.
“Don’t let it get in your mouth!” replied the young girl, loudly.
“What?” I said in confusion, still keeping my voice at a whispering level.
“Bad things happen!” replied the girl again, crying out loud.
Suddenly, a heavy weight knocked me down onto my back, forcing out all of the breath inside my lungs. After I landed hard on the cobblestones, I looked up to see the black lizard on top of me, with a dark purple substance dripping from its gaping mouth.
My eyes went wide with terror as I struggled to get free from the lizard. I grinned big at me, seeing the fear in my eyes.
“Not so brave now, are you cosplayer?“.
After hearing that, I furrowed my eyebrows at the lizard and shapeshifted my legs into a kangaroo’s, before I kicked the reptile off me.
The black lizard slammed into the side wall hard, before it fell onto the ground, unmoving.
Getting back up on my own feet, I shapeshifted into a large bald eagle and flapped towards the cocooned girl. Using my sharp black talons to grip firmly onto the hardened cocoon, I began to lift it up into the air.
I was just about to clear above the apartment buildings with the cocoon when all of a sudden, there was a sharp tug that pulled me back hard, preventing me from flying forward.
I craned my neck to the right to see what was holding me back and out of the corner of my round yellow eyes, I spotted a back thick rope that was connected to the clothesline.
Crumb. The cocoon is still connected!
I dug my claws as deep as I could into the girl’s cocoon and started to flap ruthlessly, using my sheer strength to snap the silly rope.
After a couple of relentless tugs, the sticky rope finally gave way and broke, letting me fly away.
I tirelessly flew to the closest hospital with the heavy cocoon, before I collapsed in exhaustion onto the lobby floor, falling down into my human form.
Within seconds nurses rush to me and the girl, offering help.
“She....needs help” I rasped, as I was still catching my breath while a nurse was helping me up to my feet.
The small group of nurses lifted the cocoon (with the girl still inside) onto a stretcher with wheels and rushed her down the hallway, into emerge.
While the spare doctors were splitting the cocoon open, I was taken to the room next door, to get cleaned up from the battle.
As the female nurse was cleaning my bloody claw cuts across my chin, she kept on glancing down at my costume, before looking away and repeating it again.
After I caught her the second time, her cheeks went hot with embarrassment.
“Sorry miss. It’s just that I never expected to clean up someone in a Halloween costume today” said the nurse, apologizing before she turned her back to me to grab the band aids.
“Well, this is not a Halloween costume; it’s my superhero costume”.
After placing the last band aid, the nurse made direct eye contact with me.
“Superhero costume? Are you cosplaying as Marvel?” she asked, before turning away from me again to put the first aid kit away.
“Well, no...actually...“.
I jumped down off of the table before I hesitated for a moment and revealed who I am.
“I am her”.
The nurse quickly spun around on her heels to face me.
“You’re her? You’re Miss Marvelous!?!?“.
I slowly nodded my head.
“Yeah”.
“But you look too young to be fighting crime” she responded, leaning her back against the counter behind her.
“So? Teenagers can be heroes too” I replied, crossing my arms in front of my chest.
“Do your-“.
Before the nurse could finish asking me her question, a doctor burst into the room and right to me, with a worried expression covering his face.
“Marvel, she’s-she’s gone”.
