Chapter 23
Cynthia picked up her phone and answered with a soft, almost–whispered greeting, “Hello!”
Her sweet, tender voice came through, melting Liam’s heart entirely. This was the first time he heard her speak so gently while fully awake–lir used to hear this only when she was moved with emotion. The thought of her alluring figure in his arms set a fire ablaze within him.
Liam felt like he was coming down with something. Just a single word from her sent him into a tailspin. How embarrassing?
But he hadn’t forgotten that he was calling to make sure his dear wife hadn’t been scared today. To him, Cynthia was a delicate flower from the countryside, someone who needed his careful protection.
His voice was husky as he asked, “What are you doing?”
Wrapped only in a towel, with her hair dripping wet and draped over her fair back, Cynthia wasn’t in a hurry to dry off. She just lay on talking on the phone. Just took a shower, Hey, thanks for today.”

Thinking it over, Cynthia felt she should properly express her gratitude. After all, he really had helped her out. Even though she could have managed on her own, it wouldn’t have been so easy.
“Are you alright?” asked Liam, still a bit worried. “You weren’t scared, were you?”
“Heh, I’m not that delicate.
That’s good to hear. Roseanne will be taught a little lesson and stay put for a few days. And you don’t have to go home for the next few days; 1 worry that they might trouble you when I’m not around. That saleswoman has been fired. Next time you go there, you won’t get this kind of upset.” Rare for Liam to say so much in one breath, he seemed eager to make an impression
Cynthia was touched to learn that he had done so much without her knowing.
“Actually, she didn’t do anything wrong.” She agreed Roseanne deserved a lesson, but Sara just had a bad attitude–hardly a reason to rob her of their livelihood. Getting into a shop that sold luxury jewelry wasn’t easy
Liam’s gaze hardened with resolve. “My shop doesn’t need a staff having the gall to disrespect her boss wife

That’s your store?” Cynthia was surprised. She hadn’t heard Sullivan Group
‘So that’s why a man works so hard; Liam thought. Her reaction was a boost to his vanity.
“That’s part of my assets. Your husband’s businesses are spread across the globe; you’ll see for yourself. So stay close to me, and I promise I won’t let anyone mistreat you,” he stated.
Filled with an emotion she couldn’t contain, Cynthia felt as if her heart was overflowing, tears almost spilling from her eyes. She had never parent’s love. After being taken to the frontier by her master–a man who was emotionally reserved and disciplined with her–she never experienced such forthright warmth.
“Thank you,” she said, her voice choked with emotion

Liam noticed it immediately. He then hung up and made a video call, only to see Cynthia’s big eyes, remaining watery. Heartbroken, Liam was about to comfort her.
But Cynthia yelped in surprise first. “Why are you bathing she squinted at her phone’s screen, where Liam lounged in the tub, his well–defined muscles on partial display.
Her reaction startled Liam enough to forget his concerns. “Bathing’s normal,” he said, puzzled by her tone.
“You exhibitionist! Who takes a bath o on a video call?” Cynthia scolded, covering her eyes as she tried to end the call with random taps.
“Don’t you dare hang up. Liam said, catching onto her intentions,
Given he had helped her just that afternoon, Cynthia slammed her phone down on the bed, leaving Liam to a view of darkness,

Her animated expressions were so enticing to Liam, especially given his eager state. He tried coaxing her, lowering his pride for his sweetheart. “Cynthia, could you do me a favor?”
