Chapter 372

Knowing her presence might be intrusive during such proceedings, Queena agreed but was reluctant to spend time with Hallet. After pondering a moment, she decided to go horseback riding alone, choosing a gentle white horse and quickly mounting it, avoiding any interaction with Hallet.

Hallet, however, seized this chance to understand why he had been seemingly shunned these past days. He selected a horse and caught up with Queena, attempting a casual approach. “Hey, why are you ignoring me? What’s been bothering you these past few days? His feigned ignorance only fueled Queena’s frustration, having expected him to understand her distress without having to spell it out. As she tried to accelerate away from him, her lesser horse–riding skills foiled her attempts. Resigned, she simply turned her head away, refusing to engage. Hallet, persistent, pleaded. “Queenie, please tell me what’s wrong. Is there anything I can do to change how you feel! Don’t just ignore me.” “Nannan, what on earth do you think I am unhappy with Tell me. Can I change it or not? Don’t ignore me Hallet licked his face and stepped forward.

Queena, exasperated, retorted sharply, “I dislike everything about you right now. Just stay away from me.”

Undeterred. Hallet stubbornly responded, “No way, I can do anything you want, just don’t ask me to leave.” In a last–ditch effort to bridge the gap. Hallet dismounted his horse and jumped onto Queena’s, making their proximity uncomfortably close.

“Hallet, get off Queena demanded, now furious at his intrusion

an embrace, and whispered, “Don’t

But Hallet, replaceing himself so close, was not prepared to give up. He gripped Queena’s hands, pulling her into an em move. You could fall”

Queena, feeling his warm breath, flashed back to the distressing incident that night, which heightened her agitation. She struggled vehemently, “Get away from me. I don’t want you touching me”

Hallet was frantically trying to comfort Queena while ensuring they didn’t fall from the horse. The pony Queena had chosen was small and clearly not suited for the combined weight of two adults, especially while they were still embroiled in a heated argument. Suddenly, the overwhelmed pony collapsed, causing both of them to tumble off its back. Fogninately, in the moments before they hit the ground. Hallet managed to wrap his arms around Queena, cushioning their fall. They rolled across the grass briefly before coming to a stop. Queena lay there, dazed, for a moment before regaining her senses. She instinctively checked her abdomen, feeling a strong arm that had been pressed against it during their tumultuous roll. This pressure, perhaps combined with her own fears, led her to feel a sharp pain in her lower abdomen and a sensation of moisture, which she feared might be blood. Given her delayed menstruation, she was terrified at the thought that she might be pregnant and possibly miscarrying.

Her face drained of color, Queena was suddenly overcome with emotion. Even though the idea of being pregnant had been unexpected, the thought of losing what might have been a child was heartbreaking. Tears started streaming down her face as panic set in. Hallet, alarmed by her sudden crying. feared she might have sustained a physical injury. “Queenie, where are you hurt?” he asked in a panic.

Queena, gripped by fear, responded amid sobs. “Hallet, if anything has happened to my baby, I will never forgive you.” She looked around desperately and grabbed Haller by the hair. “We need to get to a hospital now. I think I’m bleeding.” Hearing the word “baby” and the mention of bleeding. Hallet was thrown into a state of urgency, forgetting in his panic that Cynthia was a trained doctor. He scooped Queena into his arms and implored bystanders to help them get to the nearest hospital.

Meanwhile, back at the lounge, the signing of the contract had just been concluded when the news of Queena and Hallet’s accident reached the group. “What Cynthia exclaimed, rising swiftly from her seat. It was unlike Hallet to have a horse–riding accident. Cynthia and Liam immediately headed to the hospital, the same one where Vincent was being treated

Queena was rushed into the emergency room where she clutched at the doctor’s sleeve, pleading. “Doctor, please save my baby” The urgency prompted the doctor to order an immediate ultrasound to assess the situation of the supposed unborn child.

Meanwhile, Hallet paced anxiously outside the examination room while Cynthia and Liam arrived shortly after. “What happened to Queena? Why is she bleeding? Cynthia asked, concerned.

“I don’t know. They’re examining her right now,” Hallet replied, his gaze fixed on the door to the emergency room.

Moments later, Queena was wheeled out, and the group hurried to consult with the doctor, who had a grim expression. The doctor slammed the ultrasound results down on the desk and exclaimed incredulously, “Are you joking with me? You are still a virgin. How could you possibly be pregnant?”

The room fell silent, shocked by the revelation. Queena, unable to grasp the rapid turn of events, responded blankly, “But my period has been late for three days.”

“It’s normal for menstruation to be delayed occasionally. Besides, you’re having your inenstruation now as we speak,” the doctor retorted sharply, then turned to Haller, “And you, you must be her boyfriend. How could you not know this? Do you even understand how reproduction works!Chastised and bewildered, Hallet was quickly dispatched by the doctor to buy sanitary products. As Hallet scurried away, the doctor dismissed Queena from the emergency room. After Hallet left, the doctor kicked Queen out of the ward.

Outside in the corridor, Liam tactfully distanced himself to give them space, while Queena stood there, mortified, unable to lift her gaze from the floor. Cynthia, observing the situation, found the misunderstanding somewhat endearing and struggled to contain her amusement. “Cynthia, just laugh if you want, Queena said after a long silence, finally looking up with a resigned smile.

Cynthia, though tempted to laugh, chose instead to offer a gentle explanation, “That night, you both had the dessert. At first, I thought maybe you and Hallet slept together, but he managed to restrain himself, and as you can see, nothing happened.”

Cynthia’s words, meant to be comforting and improve Queena’s impression of Hallet, seemed only to deepen the young lady’s embarrassment. Overwhelmed by the situation, Queena leaned in and hugged Cynthia, tears welling up as she whispered, “Cynthia, this is so embarrassing”
