Mirah's smile, as she approached Nathan sitting by the poolside, didn't fade quickly. In her hand was a cup of coffee she had deliberately made for Nathan. She saw this as an opportunity to get closer. The bespectacled girl, whom she considered a bit nerdy, had not been seen since earlier. Maybe the brusque kid monopolized her? It didn't matter. There would be a time when Mirah would win over Naina.

The stubborn girl was just lonely and needed more attention. Mirah had plenty of time to catch Naina's attention later. Her current task was to get close to Nathan. That was more important because from the first introduction until now, there had been no positive response from Nathan.

However... oh God, even though Mirah was thirty-eight years old, she had never been involved with many men. For her, a healthy relationship was necessary, but why, in her current life, did she always seem to encounter jerks? So when she was asked to get acquainted with the son of a middle-aged woman she respected, she didn't refuse. Well... who knows, maybe she would meet her soulmate here.

"Hi," she greeted softly as she sat in one of the chairs next to Nathan. It made Nathan startle slightly, but then he smiled faintly and accepted the cup brought by the woman. "No need to bother," Nathan said, still smiling, but he immediately placed the cup on a round table not far from where he sat. "Tasya forbids me to drink coffee at night." "Your assistant?"

Nathan nodded slowly.

"You seem to be quite close, huh? Not like the usual assistant and boss."

"How should it be?" Nathan asked uninterestedly. Even though he intended to enjoy the beautiful evening. He hadn't breathed in the night air for so long because of his overtime work.

"Well... maybe a bit distant?" Mirah relaxed herself a bit. Sipping her tea. "Although I just went through the trouble of making coffee."

Nathan chuckled. "There's no coffee maker in this house, Miss Mirah."

Mirah's brow furrowed. "Miss?"

"Yes. You're three or four years older than me. As a sign of respect, of course. There's nothing else to it."

"How do you know that?" Mirah laughed. It didn't matter if someone called her 'Miss.' She was used to it. But when Nathan called her 'Miss,' for some reason, it made her smile even wider. "I've read your personal information." Nathan said, glancing subtly at the woman next to him.

"So you know Aunt Sunny's intentions, right?"

"That's actually what I want to clarify." Nathan straightened his back. "I'm not interested in Mama's plans, honestly. I still have a lot to achieve. My job doesn't allow me to be involved with the opposite sex, Miss." "Isn't it that having a woman around might at least be a bit comforting?"

Nathan laughed. "My comfort is enough in the bedroom. Not in my heart." He leaned slightly toward Mirah. He said it almost in a whisper. A faint smirk appeared on his face, a face that God had blessed with handsomeness, causing many

women to swoon.

Including the woman next to him. Nathan isn't blind; he's aware that this woman has been giving him sharp looks.

"Not yet," Mirah says softly. "Later, when you meet someone who clicks in your heart, you can bend over backward to chase her, you know."

Nathan turns and replaces the woman now gazing at him. "Do you hope that person... is you?"

"No. We've only just been introduced, right? I'm not hypocritical, though. I do want to get close to a man who is serious and has goals at the end of our approach. And I admit it now," Mirah smiles faintly, taking another sip of the tea in her hand. Her eyes are back on Nathan as she says a lot in her heart, "Nathan is dangerous. Don't fall for him, Mirah."

"You're not interested in me," Mirah states while placing the cup she had just sipped from back on the saucer. "Right?" Nathan remains still.

"I understand, though. But..." Mirah shifts her seat. Now they are face to face. Their legs accidentally touch when Mirah moves her chair. Seeing no sign of objection from Nathan, Mirah becomes bolder in closing the gap. She has already crossed the warning in her mind. Nathan has taken too much of her thoughts.

"There's no harm in trying, and besides, Aunt Sunny asked me to be here, right?"

Nathan is aware of this, of course. Actually, he's angry and annoyed at his mother's behavior, which is so presumptuous. Does she think approaching someone will lead to a wedding? It's not as simple as carrying a woman and throwing her into bed, then having a passionate romp. It's not like that. There are many things to consider, including spending a lifetime with one woman.

Visually, Mirah meets his standard of a woman's beauty. Fair-skinned, her face is pleasant to look at. Her body language knows when to be seductive and when to be mature, like now. Under Nathan's gaze, she doesn't move at all, as if offering everything she has to be touched. Nathan also observes how Mirah is with Naina. It's not easy to get close to that girl. But really, the woman Nathan wants is the one closest to Naina's heart.

"My mother is just a matchmaker, Mirah," Nathan moistens his lips. He leans slightly, just so his eyes can continue to gaze at the woman non-stop. You can see in her black eyes, adorned with perfect makeup. Her eyelashes are nicely mascaraed. The eyeshadow on her eyelids is not too flashy, but it matches the clothes she's wearing.

"For me, the success of a relationship that is much more serious than just satisfying curiosity is heavy. Very heavy, Miss."

"It's worth trying, isn't it?"

"Are you willing to wait for my readiness?" Nathan grins slightly.

"This conversation makes it seem like I'm the one proposing to you."

"I've been proposed to before," Nathan says with a smile. "And the one I'm aiming for is just the girl who proposed to me first."

Mirah blinks slowly. "What do you mean?"

Nathan doesn't continue his sentence. He prefers to shift his seat and stand up in a hurry. His steps are quite large toward someone who fills his vision.

"Where are you going?" Tasya, who has just rearranged the bag left on the dining table, is confused by Nathan's tone. Why can't her boss relax and talk to her for a bit? It's like Tasya has committed a bunch of sins. Yet Nathan should be thankful because Tasya was willing to help Naina with her homework. Nothing was left for Naina's school tomorrow. In fact, Tasya also helped prepare Naina's uniform so she wouldn't be late for school.

"It's already late," Nathan glances briefly at his previous conversation partner.

"Well, even if it's midnight, I'll still go home, sir." Tasya smiles thinly with her checked bag. Nothing is left behind now; her pink blazer has been neatly folded along with her agenda. If that had been left behind, Tasya would be in big trouble. "With whom?" Nathan asks, standing right next to Tasya. "Aren't you tired? Your usual room has already been tidied up by Ms. Merry. Your clothes are there too, right?"

"Robin also has an assignment, sir. I have to check it."

Nathan sighs, folding his arms across his chest. "You're acting like a teacher."

"Yeah. I'm starting to think about offering a special rate as a last-minute tutor for Naina, sir. It seems like a good idea."

"Wow! You're brave to suggest that."

Tasya turns and laughs. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"Just stay overnight. You can wear Jannet's work clothes. I'm sure Noah won't mind." Nathan grabs the bag Tasya is about to carry. "Make sure you get enough rest, Tasya. If you get sick, I'll be in trouble."

"That's why I shouldn't be burdened with too much, sir."

"You're getting bolder, Snail." In front of him, Nathan looks at her with annoyance. His lips are pouted like a preschooler not allowed to have candy.

From wherever the courage comes, Tasya tilts her head slightly. Her height doesn't match Nathan's. It only reaches his shoulders. Even with high heels, she still can't match Nathan's height. Her hand reaches out slowly to give a gentle stroke to her boss's messy hair.

"I'm going home, okay."
