Mommy for Billionaire's Baby -
Chapter 38
After the issue with Farhan, no one dared to give Nathan a condescending look. Actually, it had been a long time since Nathan had received such a look. But doubtful and condescending questions still echo in the meeting room. "Are you sure about that policy? It's heavy, you know. Doesn't align with the budget. We could run a deficit."
But Nathan was determined. Armed with Alexa's blessing as the late Jannet Sinclair's parent - well, even though they often had to debate first, Alexa had given the green light. Nathan continued to move forward, where in recent years he had kept Faldom stable and made a significant profit.
Despite being caught off guard by Farhan's actions. That stout man had coordinated the work system so as not to be seen devouring the depths of Faldom.
Thinking back to what Farhan did, Nathan felt like he wanted to follow the guy to jail. Arrested while he was enjoying a vacation with a woman in Malang. The man had told his wife that he was going abroad, but in reality? It was quite comical. Nathan shook his head in amazement when he remembered what he had been dealing with lately. Until a knock on the door of his office was heard, Nathan hadn't finished reviewing the marketing section. "Come in," he said, giving permission. A moment later, Leo walked in with broad strides. "Oh? Mr. Leo? Couldn't you have sent your secretary to my office?"
"I wanted a discussion, actually," Leo laughed. "Busy, huh? I haven't seen Tasya since earlier. I thought she was running late. Turns out she's not, huh?"
"She's on vacation, sir," Nathan responded to the laughter with a wide smile. "Have a seat, sir. It just so happens I need your perspective on the financial side if we want this plan to materialize."
"The one we discussed in the meeting yesterday?"
"Yes, sir."
Leo placed the report he brought on Nathan's desk. After that, many hours were filled with discussions, mainly focused on the project in Subabaya.
"This grand plan of yours, Mr. Nathan, is actually quite good," Leo said, pausing for a moment. "I also understood from yesterday's meeting that Mr. Nathan's direction was quite clear. Many people are in agreement." "I've also contacted some investors to come back to Faldom. Just pray, Mr. Leo, that my plan succeeds."
"Always, sir. I'm also working hard for Faldom."
Nathan chuckled. Leo's effort for his late brother's company was no joke. Noah Sinclair used to say that Leo was a responsible and highly dedicated guy. Nathan initially regarded their casual conversations during their leisure time as a way to unwind, usually after Nathan had returned from sailing, where there were always exciting stories to share.
"However, you need to know that our financial situation is affected by Mr. Farhan," Leo says.
Nathan understands that.
"So if possible, we need to tighten our belts a bit so that everything can be manageable."

Usually, Nathan has lunch with Tasya. Rarely does he have lunch alone, except when he meets his stress-relief date. That, too, happened a few months ago. Unfortunately, due to his reckless behavior, he got involved with a woman he used to date.
One of them is Bonnie, who is now sitting in front of him, casually enjoying her meal. Nathan deliberately accepted this woman's invitation. He couldn't talk in the office, especially since Faldom had just faced the fallout from Farhan's actions. Nathan wanted to restore a conducive atmosphere at Faldom. He didn't want Bonnie's arrival to raise more questions about him.
"Aren't you going to eat?" Bonnie asks with a charming smile, her bright red lipstick adding to her allure. Her hair is neatly arranged, and she's dressed quite provocatively.
Usually, Nathan would have liked it and said, "You look incredibly sexy."
But unfortunately, Nathan's usual pleasant demeanor is nowhere to be found this afternoon. That's okay; Bonnie can be patient. After all, there's something inside her that can make Nathan yield. He won't be able to get rid of it easily. If she's offered a lot of money to terminate it, Bonnie has a hundred and one ways to trap Nathan.
She'll definitely do that.
"This is delicious," Bonnie says as she takes a piece of meat covered in sauce and places it on Nathan's untouched plate. Nathan has been busy with his phone all this time. Sometimes he has a broad smile on his face, other times he looks grim. It's as if his phone is more interesting than his surroundings.
"Just eat," Nathan says curtly. "Fill your stomach. Who knows, your baby might be hungry."
"Why like that?" Bonnie is surprised. "This is your baby too, Nathan."
Nathan's thin smile and sharp gaze change drastically. He's ready to make calculations about this woman. Her arrival has already thrown him off balance. Not because of the news of him impregnating her. Not at all. He's more afraid that Tasya will distance herself. He hasn't even received a hundred percent forgiveness from her yet. He can't afford to make any more moves that might push Tasya further away. Not at all.
"Is that really my baby?"
Nathan isn't fond of carrying bags, especially ones filled with work documents and a laptop. But this time, he's willing. Inside the bag is the authenticity letter Bonnie once showed him. In addition to the two pregnancy tests she handed him, there's also a document stating that Bonnie is expecting.
"This is fake," Nathan says calmly. "There's no clinic license on the paper you gave me."
Bonnie's eyes widen. "Don't deny it, Nathan!" She quickly sets aside the spoon she's been holding, making a loud noise that catches the attention of some waiters in the restaurant. Fortunately, the restaurant Nathan chose is intentionally private, to protect his reputation and anticipate Bonnie's erratic behavior.
"Deny what?" Nathan laughs. "The document clearly states that the clinic where you had your pregnancy test is fake. Besides, you can't fool me."
"I'm pregnant!" Bonnie emphasizes. "And it's your child!"
"I even specifically requested the CCTV footage from the hotel room where we were together. Well... the video is quite nice. Your moans were really sexy," Nathan chuckles. "But it all reminds me of what I did with you, including using a condom."
"It could have leaked!"
Nathan laughs again. "Is the tip of mine so sharp that it can cause a leak?" He shakes his head in disbelief. "Anyway, maybe you're really pregnant, congratulations. But don't point fingers at me and demand responsibility. You willingly spread your legs. I paid you according to the rate, even more. I checked my bank statements."
"I don't need your money!" Bonnie shouts in frustration.
"Then what?" Nathan rests his chin on his hand, looking at Bonnie with intimidation.
"Responsibility, Nathan." Bonnie's voice trembles as she holds back her emotions. Her hand grips the edge of the table tightly. She must keep her emotions in check so that Nathan's words don't push her further down. Her goal hasn't been achieved yet. She won't give up easily. "I can make sure this child is yours."
"I won't doubt the presence of a child if it's truly mine, Bonnie." Nathan leans in slightly. "Unfortunately, I know what your intentions are." He whispers half-conspiratorially, "Don't let me drag you to jail for defamation and conspiring with Farhan."
Bonnie's eyes widen in disbelief.
"I know what you're hiding, Bonnie." Nathan leans back in his chair. His gaze shifts to the untouched lunch in front of him. He pushes aside the piece of meat Bonnie placed on his plate and signals to a nearby waiter. "Could you please bring me the same menu? I'm hungry."
"Sure, sir."
Nathan returns his gaze to Bonnie, who looks pale in front of him. "Do you still want to be in front of me, or are you ready to drop the act?"
