Mr. Poker Face’s Sweetheart By Lee Dubois -
Chapter 122
Chapter 122
“Humph… If I had known earlier, I wouldn’t have agreed to borrow this dress.”
Indeed, Giselle had become the limelight, but only she could feel the pressure.
The more Giselle thought about it, the more worried she became.
Hymes leaned close to Giselle’s ear and whispered, “Don’t worry. Since you have already borrowed it, you should enjoy the envy of others tonight.”
“I don’t have the mood to enjoy it now. I just want to protect them well…”
The annual meeting had some established procedures, such as speeches from leaders and outstanding employees.
Giselle did not have any tasks this year, so she just stood with Hymes and applauded on the sidelines.
And this time, the outstanding employee was Jenny.
As a newcomer who had only been in the company for a few months, everyone knew that there were some hidden relationships behind Jenny being chosen.
But Jenny seemed proud of herself.
However, after Jenny finished her speech and walked down from the stage, Giselle smiled and reminded her, “Don’t forget that fifty thousand dollars must be transferred to the account tonight. Otherwise, I will call the police.”
Jenny gritted her teeth secretly and snorted disdainfully, trying to pretend that she didn’t care, “It’s just a small sum of money. Only poor people as you care about it so much!”
“You are the daughter of the Clarks family. Of course, you won’t lack money. So why don’t you transfer the money right now? What are you waiting for?”
If Jenny had the money, she would naturally transfer it.
But now, Jenny didn’t have much more than an ordinary person in her account.
So Jenny could only lie to her, “My bank card has reached its limit. I will transfer the money later.”
Seeing Jenny strutting around again, Giselle disgustedly pouted, “If it weren’t for her family’s money, a person like her, who is so arrogant, would have been taught a lesson by society long ago!”
Hymes caressed Giselle’s hair lightly and said meaningfully, “It’s not eternal for that. Maybe they’ll go bankrupt one day.”
“That’s true, but it seems like Jenny’s family is rich… It shouldn’t be that easy for them to go bankrupt.”
Hymes laughed, “I hope her family’s business will be able to persevere.”
Giselle tiptoed and asked Hymes, “Are you cursing Jenny?”
“It’s not a curse.”
Hymes thought to himself it could be considered his ultimatum to them.
In the end, Jenny had to ask Mickey to compensate them for the fifty thousand dollars.
And her excuse was that she had recently spent too much, and her bank card had reached its limit.
Mickey was confused. “Did you spend a lot recently? I don’t remember you buying anything…”
Jenny blinked uneasily and said, “Well, I bought that bag which cost me a lot of money, so my limit is reached this month…”
“Is that so? I didn’t know that.”
“Just help me pay for it now! I will transfer it to you as soon as my bank card regains its payment function…”
“Okay.” Mickey patted Jenny’s head and pretended a gentle expression again, “I’ll pay for you.”
“Thank you, Mickey. I love you!”
When saying these cheesy words, Jenny didn’t notice the cold smile appearing on Mickey’s face.

Chapter 122
Obviously, everything Mickey did now was to get benefits from the Clarks family after marrying Jenny.
Jenny lowered her eyes to hide her worries and fears.
She did not dare let Mickey know how bad the situation of the Clarks family business was and that they might go bankrupt at any
time.
Although Mickey and Jenny looked very sweet together on the surface, they were each calculating something in their hearts.
The annual meeting was nothing more than those settled procedures. In the end, Giselle was a little sleepy.
The company arranged for accommodation for them. There were not many employees, so they had their own rooms in the villa.
When Giselle was about to take Hymes upstairs, Hymes suddenly grabbed her hand and said, “Come with me.”
“Where are we going?”
“Follow me.”
They quietly slipped out of the banquet hall and found the car just was parked outside.
Hymes didn’t drink tonight, so he could drive.
It was already night. A moon hung in the sky, and Giselle was a little excited. She smiled and asked, “Where are you taking me?”
With a hint of coquetry in her voice, Giselle asked, “Can’t you let me know first?”
“What’s the fun of knowing it first?”
Hymes decided to keep Giselle in suspense and stopped the car after a few minutes of driving.
The villa was located within a holiday resort, and Domino Media had only rented the largest building. There were still plenty of leisure areas within the whole resort.
Hymes took Giselle’s hand and led her out of the car. They walked along the side of the road until they crossed a small path and suddenly saw a magnificent sight.
The moonlight was shining on the ground. In front of Giselle were endless roses, which were blooming brightly at this moment.
Giselle widened her eyes in surprise. Hymes suddenly pulled her into his arms from behind and whispered, “Do you like it?”
Giselle could hardly express her amazement. “These are roses…”
“Yes.”
“But it’s not the season for roses to bloom…”
Most roses would have withered by now.
“They were just transplanted from the greenhouse.”
That was why these roses were in the most beautiful state right now.
“How long will it take to transplant so many roses?”
“Just hire someone to do it. It won’t take long.”
Money could get you anything, but true romance could not only depend on money.
What mattered the most was Hymes‘ intention.
Giselle was excited beyond words. This was a much bigger surprise than receiving a bouquet of roses.
Giselle had always liked flowers, and there were all kinds of flowers in the vase at home all year round.
Hymes had also noticed her little hobby, so he had specially chosen to give her this gift on Valentine’s Day.
Beside the rose garden stood a swing set. Hymes took Giselle’s hand, leading her to sit on the swing, and he pushed her gently from behind.
The evening wind blew gently, and the heat of the summer night seemed to dissipate.
Most importantly, on this special evening, Hymes was by her side and brought her an unexpected level of romance.

Giselle had always thought that Hymes was an extremely calm and steady man, so he probably wouldn’t do so many romantic things as some other men.
Giselle didn’t mind. She just wanted to live a peaceful and sweet life with him.
But receiving a romantic gift like this made Giselle realize that women are always touched by heartfelt actions like today.
“Thank you. Hymes.”
“You still call me by my name,
huh?”
Hymes whispered, “Should you change the way you address me?”
Giselle turned her head slightly, locking eyes with him under the moonlight. She said something that had been hard for her to say before. “Honey…”
The voice was sweet and soft.
Hymes‘ eyes immediately darkened, and he regretted asking her to call him by that at this moment. He should have waited until they got back to the hotel.
