Mr. Poker Face’s Sweetheart By Lee Dubois -
Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Mickey dared not make a move as he was in full view of the audience. Mickey knew very well what the consequences were if he acted out his action.
Mickey was just merely trying to scare them.
However, Mickey underestimated the threatening power of the man beside Giselle. With Hymes staring down at Mickey with his dark and dreadful gaze, it was enough to scare Mickey and freeze him on the spot.
Mickey lost his guts and simply shouted, “Only uneducated and rude folks will want to fight. I just wanted to warn her to stop using those nonsense to pretend her life is good! My life with Jenny is improving, so you guys can just watch and be
envious of us!”
Mickey turned around and pulled Jenny, “Let’s go. We shouldn’t fall to the standards of uneducated people like them!”
Hymes saw through Mickey’s actual thought, and the corner of his mouth lifted into a smirk, but he did not expose Mickey.
Hymes was like a ready beast, pretending to be napping while watching the poor prey trying to escape, yet everything was
still in his control.
Jenny usually would not give up so easily, but today she had lost the upper hand and could not wait to escape from this place.
To run away from the strange stares of the surrounding customers.
Jenny hurriedly replied, “Fine. For your sake, I won’t argue with them anymore. Let’s go and drink at another bar!”
When the other colleagues passed by Giselle, they apologized, “Hey, sorry, Giselle. We’ll take our leave now…”
Giselle showed little reaction, and there was no need for her to give them any reply.
This was their choice, and Giselle would not interfere.
However, Giselle had seen through their true colors and would be more careful when she worked with them from now on.
Kila stared at Mickey and Jenny’s sullen retreat and commented proudly, “Giselle, you are the best! Mickey is scared of you
the most!”
“I’m not as good as you, Barrister Bradley. Those remarks you throw at them make them speechless and angry, yet they couldn’t do anything about it!”
With the teases from Giselle, Kila raised her eyebrows, “I’m not a lawyer for nothing. Just that I didn’t perform to my proper level for today!”
After seeing the cheating couple fleeing, Kila happily pulled Giselle back to the colleague’s booth and said, “To celebrate our victory, let’s have a few cups of drinks. Since you guys are here, don’t just leave without celebrating, all right?”
Giselle looked at Hymes with uncertainty.
After they married, Giselle only noticed that Hymes did not smoke or drink and had surprisingly good habits.
Even though Hymes looked like someone who would smoke, drink, and do all sorts of unhealthy things.
But the truth was Hymes led a healthier lifestyle than Giselle could have imagined.
Hymes noticed her gaze, and the previously chilling aura had abruptly dispersed.
“Do you still want to stay here a little longer?” Hymes asked Giselle softly.

Chapter 26
“Well, since it’s still early and tomorrow is the weekend. Let’s hang out here and have fun for a little while longer?”
“Sure. Hymes pampering increased the pace of Giselle’s pounding heart uncontrollably.
Giselle quickly turned her head to Kila and answered. “We’ll stay here for a little while longer.”
“Cool! All right! I’ll order a few more drinks. Tonight is on me!”
Kila’s colleagues joked, “Well done for winning a big case. You’re so generous after gaining the victory!”
“Of course! How can I be stingy when treating my best friend and her husband for drinks tonight?”
Kila was happy and ordered plenty of cocktails. Giselle usually did not drink much, but she would drink a little more at this
time.
After all, Giselle inevitably had to socialize like this because of her job. Although they simply cut straight to the point to discuss the work most of the time, when Giselle was required to drink, she would directly drink without hesitation.
However, Giselle was still very concerned about Hymes, “Are you sure you can drink?”
“Yes” Hymes nodded. His large hand picked up a glass of whiskey on the table, and the cool light reflected on Hymes‘ face, adding more charms to his already fascinating features.
Upon seeing this scene, Kila and her colleagues could not help but suck in a breath of cold air.
They saw such a good–looking man for the first time in their lives. Even Giselle was uncontrollably impressed by Hymes.
Although Giselle was an Internet celebrity and saw plenty of good–looking guys, compared to the man in front of her, they were simply a boy.
Hymes masculine features and strong, sharp brows easily made others go weak on their legs when being stared upon by Hymes.
Even when it was clear that Giselle was sitting next to Hymes and both were very close to each other, plenty of women still dared to approach him.
“Hey, handsome, I’ve lost a game and need to ask you for your contact. Do you mind helping me? Please consider it as doing a kind favor for me, pretty please?”
A very pretty woman who was dressed voluptuously approached Hymes and asked for his contact.
However, Hymes did not even bother to look at her and simply turned his face to the side and whispered into Giselle’s ear, “Do you mind helping me to settle such trouble?”
The tone of Hymes instantly made Giselle shiver and blush.
Giselle could only tilt her head and answered the woman, I’m sorry, but my husband doesn’t give his contact to random
strangers.
As Giselle spoke, the diamond ring on her finger sparkled brightly.
The woman saw the ring and still did not believe Giselle, “No way… How can he be your husband? He didn’t even wear a wedding ring
After buying the diamond ring for Giselle that day, Hymes had completely forgotten about himself.
Therefore, Hymes had not worn any wedding ring
Sensing that Giselle was slightly embarrassed, Hymes replied. “I’ve spent all my money on the ring for my wife, and my wife is the most important
Chapter 26
“It’s unbelievable that a man like you would spoil your wife so much. Forget it. I wish you two a happy marriage!” The woman said sarcastically.
When the woman left reluctantly, Kila, who was sitting next to them, was grinning from car to ear, “Hymes, you are so funny. How could you spend all your money on the diamond ring for Giselle but forget about your own?”
Hymes smiled, “It can’t be helped that Gigi is the most important.”
Giselle was shy and trying to hide away. As of just now, Giselle subconsciously spurted out some intimate words to dismiss
that woman
But it seemed like no big deal after getting used to saying it.
Of course, Giselle did not dare to address Hymes as her husband again, so she could only pretend that nothing had happened just now,
Giselle raised her glass of whiskey and clinked it with Hymes, “Thank you”
Hymes‘ eyes deepened. Thanking me for what?”
“Thanking you for being by my side when I needed you the most.”
Although their marriage was an accident, in Giselle’s opinion, it was purely coincidental. But was this not a kind of fate too?
In short, Hymes appearing in Giselle’s life played a more significant role than she could have imagined.
Also, there was more to it.
Giselle calmed down her emotions and was very clear that she was happier now than ever.
The music muffled Hymes low and hoarse voice, I’m the one who should be thanking you.”
Giselle did not hear Hymes clearly and asked, “What did you just say?”
Hymes lips curved upward, “Nothing.”
