Mr. Poker Face’s Sweetheart By Lee Dubois -
Chapter 51
Chapter 51
“The most straightforward and effective way to deal with someone who questions other people’s marital status for no reason is to involve a lawyer. Neville said with a chilling expression. “Ma’am, do you have any doubts that need me to clarify for you?”
Nora fell silent, not daring to speak, feeling guilty and nervous.
She felt incredibly embarrassed.
Giselle finally regained a bit of composure and grabbed Hymes‘ wrist. “I have nothing more to do here. We can talk more when we get home…”
Hymes interrupted solemnly, “I know, Gigi. I didn’t mean to disturb your dinner with your friends. I just wanted to say
hello.”
Everyone could clearly sense the air of luxury that surrounded Giselle’s husband.
His cold and assertive demeanor had a fatal attraction for women, and Nora couldn’t take her eyes off him.
Her recently gained pride was instantly crushed, and she wondered why Giselle had married such a handsome and wealthy man right after her breakup.
Although Nora had no idea who Hymes was, she could tell from his demeanor and the friends around him that her bragged–about boyfriend might be nothing compared to Giselle’s husband.
Nora’s nails dug into her palm, the pain finally sobering her. She tried to explain, “We’re just having a college reunion today. and we were joking earlier. We used to be good friends…”
Hymes didn’t even spare Nora a glance or respond. He simply reminded Giselle, “Call me when you’re done, and we’ll go home together.”
“Okay, I got it.”
Hymes‘ tone was cold. “If anyone bullies you, tell me, alright?”
“I will… And you?”
“I have a meeting with some business partners tonight, so I’ll go ahead.”
Hymes gently touched Giselle’s face, whispering, so only they could hear, “Don’t be mad at me anymore. Contact me first if anything happens. Don’t bear it alone.”
“L… I’m not mad.”
Giselle wanted to deny it, but under Hymes‘ penetrating gaze, she had nowhere to hide and simply nodded. “Alright.”
Nora bit her lip, still unwilling to give up, and asked, “Which room are you all in? Why not join us here?”
Hymes replied calmly, without any emotion, “We’re at the Lakebar room.”
He then ignored Nora, focusing on Giselle, and reminded her again, “Remember to call me.”
“I have some business to discuss, so I won’t bother you and your friends here.”
“Alright… You go take care of your stuff, and I’ll call you when I leave.”
“Okay.” Hymes‘ eyes were warm and gentle only when looking at Giselle.
After saying goodbye with a polite distance, Hymes left with another man who had flirtatious eyes and a carefree demeanor,

waving at Giselle. “See you later.”
Giselle could only respond politely. “See you next time.”
Hymes glanced coldly at Andy, who shrugged, laughing, and left.
Their arrival was swift, as was their departure, but even in that short time, their impact was astonishing.
The moment he disappeared, the whole room erupted in excitement. Even Margot and Jose came over, asking Giselle excitedly. “What does your husband do? He seems extraordinary…”
“What kind of collaboration are they discussing that they can talk about it in the Lakebar room? That private room isn’t available to just anyone!”
Nora’s face turned pale.
Giselle shook her head. “I don’t know what they’re talking about specifically. I just know that those people are his business partners.”
Giselle felt puzzled, but not suspicious, thinking that those people were probably Hymes‘ clients.
Although it seemed unusual, Hymes sold insurance, so maybe he targeted high–end clients.
Giselle had heard that wealthier people were more careful about insurance planning, so maybe Hymes had gained this opportunity due to his outstanding work capabilities.
That was good. At least, Hymes was working hard, which comforted Giselle.
Without Hymes explaining, Giselle had already reasoned away her confusion.
As for what Hymes said about the lawyer, she assumed he was just helping.
Now, Nora stood there like a clown.
She thought she knew better, wanting to introduce a boyfriend to Giselle. However, the reality was that Giselle’s husband was far more impressive than the best men Nora could ever know.
That was a social class Nora couldn’t even imagine, and she was jealous.
Nora sarcastically said, “Giselle, your husband is really good at showing off. He always wants to replace a lawyer… I can’t even tell if that person is actually his lawyer!”
“He is a lawyer.”
Kila, who had been silent since Hymes and others arrived, finally reacted.
Kila suddenly grabbed Giselle’s wrist and exclaimed, “Oh my! Your husband knows Neville!!”
Giselle asked, “Who is he?”
“Neville is a jóp lawyer with a 100% success rate in recent years!! I’ve never seen him lose… Our teachers used to use him as a case study in class. He’s definitely the most promising young lawyer!”
Nora couldn’t laugh anymore.
Kila was a lawyer herself, and her excited expression showed that she wasn’t lying…
Giselle was quite surprised. “Is he that amazing?”
“He’s incredibly amazing. The law firm Neville works for has such high standards. I wouldn’t even qualify to work there. Maybe if I work hard for another ten years, I might have a chance…”
