Chapter 57
Chapter 57
After talking with Tyler, Nora came out of the oflice and immediately noticed Jenny glaring at her with a resentful look.
Nora didn’t care about Jenny at all and went straight to Giselle’s seat, saying with some pity. “Did the company really assign you such a position?”
Giselle remained calm. “I just follow the company’s arrangements. What do you want?”
“I just had a good talk with Tyler, but I made a request.”
“What is the request?”
Nora smiled. “If I sign with your company, will you be my agent?”
Even the usually composed Giselle looked shocked. “Nora, are you crazy? Asking me to be your agent?”
Given the conflicts between them, if Giselle really became Nora’s agent, there must be some clashes in the future.
It would affect the work and could even lead to deeper conflicts.
However, Nora seemed to think it was only natural. “What’s the problem? I think you’re quite capable, so I want you to be my agent.”
“I’m sorry. I don’t have time.”
“Tyler said you only have two clients right now. One more wouldn’t be too much, right?”
Giselle sighed. “I can’t handle you.”
Thinking of Giselle’s husband’s background, Nora was angry but had to swallow her words. “Think about it. If you don’t agree, I won’t sign with your company.”
Ignoring Giselle’s refusal, Nora left.
Jenny gloated from her seat. “This is a great opportunity. You’d better seize it!”
Naturally, Jenny wanted to see Giselle reluctantly agree and then be troubled by Nora.
Jenny also noticed that although Nora was hostile toward her, she didn’t have a good relationship with Giselle either.
So Jenny was especially looking forward to seeing Nora causing trouble for Giselle.
However, Giselle hit back calmly. “You should prepare yourself too. After all, Nora once pursued Mickey. Who knows what she’s thinking now?”
As expected, Jenny’s smile froze, and she shut her mouth.
Jenny definitely needed to be on guard against Nora. She didn’t want her to join the company, fearing she might attract Mickey’s attention.
As the saying went, “If you have ever been in a relationship with someone who was cheating, you might be afraid of being cheated on in the future.”
Jenny had once been a mistress using underhanded means to snatch Mickey away from Giselle.
So she worried and feared that someone else might use the same tactics to steal her loved one.
Moreover, since Mickey had cheated before, it meant he might do it again. So Jenny had to be on guard all the time.
Giselle knew what Jenny was afraid of, so she deliberately hinted to make her panic.
With Jenny meddling, signing Nora wouldn’t be easy, and Giselle wouldn’t have to work with Nora.
Giselle didn’t know what Nora was up to, but there was no way she had worked with someone who clearly had a bias against. her. She had no intention of inviting trouble….
At the end of the workday, Giselle finished her tasks and immediately went downstairs upon receiving a message from Hymes.
Seeing Giselle leave in a hurry, Jenny secretly followed her and saw Giselle get into an ordinary–looking car in front of the company building.
Jenny carefully observed the car’s logo and realized that the person picking Giselle up seemed to be Giselle’s husband.
Seeing this scene, Jenny felt superior once again.
How could Giselle’s husband compare to Mickey?
Giselle had no idea that Hymes had bought a car until Jenny pointed it out to her.
She climbed into the not–so–famous but reasonably priced and highly–rated SUV, her eyes shining brightly, “So this is the new car you bought?”
“Yep.” Hymes‘ strong hand with prominent knuckles gripped the steering wheel, a smile playing on his lips. “You’re the first passenger in this car.”
Giselle gave him a thumbs–up. “You are really effective. I thought it would take you a long time to buy a car, but you’ve done. it in just a few days.”
“It was just some simple paperwork. There’s no big deal.”
“Luckily, your parents bought a car early. Today’s price is higher than before.”
Hymes laughed and suddenly patted Giselle on the head. “From now on, I’ll drop you off at work in the morning. In the afternoon, I’ll pick you up if I’m not too busy.”
As the boss of a large company, Hymes wanted to ensure his freedom as much as possible, but there were always some schedules he couldn’t avoid.
So he tried his best to free up time in the afternoons.
Giselle smiled. “It’s okay. I can take the subway. It’s fast.”
As they drove, Hymes suddenly told Giselle, “Take a car sticker from the drawer in front of you.”
“What car sticker? Following Hymes‘ instructions, Giselle opened the drawer and found a sticker inside.
The words printed on it made Giselle blush.
“Isn’t it better not to put this on? What if your colleagues ride in the car someday? It might be awkward…”
Hymes‘ usually stern features softened. “From now on, no matter who wants to ride in my car, the front passenger seat is reserved for you.”
Giselle’s cheeks grew even warmer. She hadn’t thought much about the online discussions about the ownership of the front passenger seat for boyfriends or husbands, and didn’t think it was a big issue.
Anyone could sit there. It wasn’t exclusively reserved for one person.
But Hymes had considered this for her and wanted her to place the sticker, which read “Wife’s Exclusive Seat” in front of the passenger seat.
Giselle felt a bit embarrassed. “Won’t it be bad if your colleagues see this?”
Hymes immediately countered, “What’s wrong with that?”
“They’ll think I’m a diflicult person, being so picky about just a front passenger seat. They will think I’m definitely not easy to get along with.”
The corners of Hymes‘ mouth lifted. “I’ll tell them that it was my request because I want this seat to be
yours.”
Giselle’s heart began to beat irregularly, faster and faster. A simple sentence from Hymes could move her so deeply.
Giselle hesitated. “Should we just forget about it?”
“Trust me, okay? It’s fine to put it on.”
Hymes showed a gentle but firm stance.
After much deliberation. Giselle finally made a decision. “Alright, let’s put it on!”
