Mr. Poker Face’s Sweetheart By Lee Dubois -
Chapter 7
Chapter 7
The woman’s patronizing tone was full of disdain.
Judging from her bag and the necklace on her neck, Giselle could tell that this woman was a wealthy dame.
“Mrs. Clarks, I’m sorry, but we’re required to serve every guest. We will try only to do business with suitable customers in the future.”
The salesperson’s reply was also a mockery. However, he mocked Giselle implicitly, which gave her quite a pique.
“Don’t let these poor people come in. Their poverty even polluted the air, I hate having to stay in the same place with the poor”
Amy Clarks glanced at Giselle, then continued to select the jewelry she liked while muttering unrelentingly, “Young couples nowadays have no self–knowledge at all. They believe they can get whatever they want by wandering around, but the truth is, they might never get it.”
The salesperson smiled flatteringly and said, “You’re right. There are always a lot of ignorant people. They should go back to reality instead of dreaming about something impossible.”
Giselle didn’t know why this customer mocked her so wickedly because she had never offended this woman.
However, Giselle knew this woman was too rich to be offended. Even though Giselle wanted to argue with this woman, she knew she couldn’t bear the
consequence.
“Hymes, let’s go.” Giselle forced a smile and wanted to pull Hymes out of the store.
However, she was too weak to make his strapping figure move.
Hymes took Giselle to Amy’s side.
Amy was an elderly woman. Although her attire was luxurious, she was pretty chubby. Her face had so many wrinkles that they couldn’t be concealed by her heavy makeup.
Giselle wore a floral dress that revealed the outline of her perfect figure. Her makeup was light, and her skin was flawless, making her seem even
brighter
Amy’s face became gloomier after Giselle came up to her, which exposed that she jeered at Giselle only because she was jealous of her beauty.
Giselle’s beauty was like the sunshine in June: bright, lively, and shining. Her appearance alone was more precious than any luxury in the world.
“Keep her away from me! I told you that I hate being close to the poor!”
Amy scolded viciously. The salesperson had no choice but signed Giselle to walk away, saying, “Sir, madam, please keep a distance from my customer. She doesn’t like staying close to the others.”
“Why?” Hymes asked expressionlessly as he stared at the salesperson sharply, “You don’t have a rule that forbids the customers from standing at a certain spot, do you?”
“Uh… no,” said the salesperson.
“Stop talking nonsense with him! A customer is someone who can afford your product. He’s too poor to be a customer! Drive them out now!”
Amy’s acerbity made her anile face even uglier without alerting her.
Hymes looked down at her and asked sternly, “If I can afford to be a customer, can you get lost and leave us alone?”
“You? Huh! You must be joking! I just saw this 30–thousand–dollar bracelet. Can you afford it? And there’s also a 20–thousand–dollar ring! You can buy
if you want. If you do…”
“If I buy it, you will immediately apologize to my wife and leave this store.”
Hymes‘ tone was harsh. He stared at Amy coldly, making her scared for no reason.
But Amy’s fear soon disappeared. She thought, “Why should I be afraid of a brat?”
After all, she believed Hymes was just a poor boy who would never spend so much money buying a ring.
But the next second, Hymes took out a bank card and said without hesitation, “I want this one.”
He pointed at the sunflower diamond ring that Amy had just mentioned. Hymes had taken a fancy to it just now, thinking that it would suit Giselle perfectly.
“Hymes!” Giselle became panicked. “What are you doing? It’s too expensive! Don’t waste your money on this!”
Giselle thought Hymes was being impulsive because his dignity had been challenged and humiliated.
Giselle could also afford this 20–thousand–dollar ring, but she was never willing to spend so much money on jewelry.
Chapter 7
She was sure that Hymes would definitely regret his decision after he came back to his senses
But no matter how anxious Giselle was, Hymes seemed determined. Then, he bought that diamond ring under the salesperson’s shocked gaze.
He even thoughtfully told the salesperson Giselle’s ring size.
Giselle said, “Hymes, it’s not too late to get a refund.”
Amy sneered, “Huh! I’ve seen loads of men like you. You value your dignity more than your financial condition. Why did you pretend to be rich when you’re so poor? How ridiculous!”
Hymes hooked a comer of his mouth. “Ridiculous? I don’t care. I only know that you should apologize to my wife right now and get the hell out of
here.”
Amy slapped the table and snapped, “Do you know who I am? How dare you ask me to leave!”
Hymes replied calmly. “I’m not interested to know who you are.”
Amy yelled angrily, “You…”
The salesperson hurriedly told Hymes, “Sir, don’t argue with Mrs. Clarks. You can’t afford to offend her!”
Hymes refused to give in. His strapping figure seemed extremely oppressive, and Amy flustered when she saw a trace of murderous intent flash across Hymes‘ face.
Then, Amy saw Hymes twist his neck, and the cruelty in his eyes made him seem like a demon.
Hymes‘ gaze was so brutal that Amy could even smell blood in the air.
She suddenly felt uneasy, thinking that this man wasn’t as weak as she had expected.
Amy even thought that Hymes‘ hard fist would meet her face if she dared to disobey.
Her chubby body shivered, and she instantly ran out of the store, completely forgetting how arrogant she had been.
The salesperson was shocked.
“And you,” Hymes looked at him fiercely and ordered, “apologize to my wife.”
Seeing that Amy had been scared away, the salesperson didn’t dare to say anything more and apologized tremblingly, “I’m sorry, miss. I apologize for my attitude…”
Giselle shook her hand and said, “It’s okay. I can forgive you. But can you help me refund this ring?”
“Uh…” The salesperson hesitated.
Hymes knocked on the table and said, “Don’t mind her. Bring me the ring.”
Then, the dazzling diamond ring was put on Giselle’s fair finger.
This unique sunflower ring brought Giselle’s beauty to a whole other level.
“Gorgeous,” said Hymes sincerely.
Giselle liked the ring very much but still thought it was a waste of money.
However, her rejection was blocked by Hymes‘ broad palm.
Giselle seemed to detect a faint scent of tobacco on his skin.
Hymes took over the receipt and packaging. Then, he pulled Giselle into his arms and left the store, completely ignoring her struggle.
Giselle finally broke free after they left the mall, her face reddened by anxiety. “How could you be so reckless? This purchase is not worthy at all!”
Nobody had ever Called Hymes a reckless man. He smiled and lifted Giselle’s finger to rub the ring slowly. “Who said it’s not worthy? It’s worthy as long as I believe so”
Hymes only stroked the ring, but his move made Giselle shiver for no reason.
Giselle instantly retracted her hand and stammered, “You… You can’t do this again.
“If you don’t want to get a refund, I’ll keep it for now. If you want to give it to your loved one in the future, I’ll give it back to you.”
Giselle thought she was generous and considerate. However, the words were no sooner out of her mouth than Hymes‘ face darkened instantly.
