Chapter 150

Chapter 150 Finding Nancy (2)

“Yes, it’s him,” Linda confirmed, blinking her eyes. “You know, it’s a small world, isn’t it?”

“Indeed, it’s quite small,” Nancy agreed.

It was astonishing how the person they were searching for not only belonged to the same social circlebut was also a close friend.

Suddenly, the sky burst into a dazzling display of fireworks – vivid reds, radiant yellows, and vibrantgreens, creating an incredibly beautiful spectacle. They sat on the beach, gazing up at the fireworks in

awe.

“Nancy, do you think they’re beautiful?” Linda asked.

“Yeah. They’re beautiful.” Nancy knew that Linda probably set off these fireworks specifically to lift herspirits, helping her forget her sorrows and troubles and rediscover happiness.

However, no one expected that by the end of the evening, both of them would be engulfed in sorrow.

Later that night, the two women sat on the beach, drinking beer. Without any food, they held beerbottles and drank as if they were quenching their thirst. The bottles piled up, and Linda, being thefastest drinker, was the first to succumb to the effects of alcohol.

Linda tilted her head and leaned on Nancy’s shoulder, her voice filled with vulnerability. “Nancy, do youthink Luke will ever marry me? I have a wedding dress that I really love. I dream of marrying him! inthat dress, but deep down, I know he’d never agree.” She continued, “Sometimes, I wonder if I canmatch his status once I’ve amassed a fortune and become a wealthy woman.”

Nancy didn’t say anything. She just looked up and took a big sip of her beer.

In this city, there were three prominent aristocratic families-the Foster Family, the Sallow Family, andthe Gray Family. The most exceptional among them was the Foster Family, a storied and influentialaristocratic lineage with deep roots, extensive influence, and a network of connections. It was reputedto have thrived for centuries, with each successive generation attaining a prestigious status.

The Foster Family adhered to a strict rule that stipulated any woman marrying into their ranks must hailfrom a prestigious family. This rule had reportedly remained unbroken for centuries. Regardless of theindividual involved, be it someone who initially resisted, struggled, or refused, they all eventuallyacquiesced.

Each one dutifully forsook their supposed true love and instead married a woman from a prestigiousfamily, thereby raising the entire family to greater heights. The question loomed-could Luke escape thispredetermined destiny?

When Nancy turned to look, Linda had already fallen asleep with her head drooping on Nancy’sshoulder. Nancy understood that it was an incredibly challenging and almost impossible situation forLinda.

Back then, the reason Nancy was able to marry Nicholas was not only because Jacob was an open-minded family head but also for an irrefutable reason-her mother had saved Jacob and Albert’s lives.

Without this connection, she would have been just part of an ordinary family. Marrying into the SallowFamily would have been almost impossible, let alone the Foster Family with its strict rules and heavy

barriers.

“Linda, we both loved the wrong person!” Nancy murmured. She raised her head and, after muttering, proceeded to down several cans of beer in a row. This time, there was no hesitation. She tilted her

head and downed one can after another. Even though she had cautioned herself not to think about thatman, he persistently intruded into her mind, running back and forth.

She simply wished not to dwell on it. All she wanted was a good night’s sleep, and she believed thatthe best way to achieve that was through alcohol. So, she continued to drink, hoping to get drunk andreplace

solace.

In the end, someone escorted Linda and Nancy back to the hotel. Their carefree departure had turnedinto a drunken return.

Fortunately, Linda had called her manager. After receiving the call, Jennifer immediately dispatched afew reliable people to pick them up. Jennifer had been anxious, fearing that someone might captureLinda in her inebriated state and create a scandal, so she waited nervously at the hotel entrance.

Suddenly, a black luxury car pulled up at the hotel entrance. Almost simultaneously, Luke and Nicholasstepped out of the vehicle. These two equally striking men, with their long legs and undeniablecharisma, instantly became the center of attention.

Jennifer had been anxiously waiting, primarily concerned with whether Linda’s car had arrived. However, her focus suddenly shifted as her gaze landed on Luke. Luke? Her heart began to raceinstantly, and a flurry of questions flooded her mind. Why did he come here? How coincidental that hearrived just when Linda was drunk. His timing is almost unbelievable.

Jennifer Dalton, an experienced manager, had some knowledge of Linda and Luke’s relationship. Still, she never anticipated the unexpected twist of events-not only had Linda not returned, but she hadended up with Luke.

Despite her years of experience in public relations, she couldn’t help but feel a touch of nervousnesswhen faced with a powerful figure like Luke. The situation had caught her off guard, and sheinstinctively turned her back, trying to come up with a plan on the spot. For the time being, she justwanted to navigate this predicament and avoid any unwanted attention. She knew that he had givenher a stern warning after Linda got drunk at a previous party, instructing her to ensure Linda didn’t drinkso much in the future.

Now, both Linda and Nancy were thoroughly drunk, leaving Jennifer in a state of panic. Jennifer silentlyprayed that Luke wouldn’t notice her presence at that moment.

However, her hopes were short-lived as Luke’s voice resounded from behind her. “Jennifer? What areyou doing here? Is Linda back yet?”

“Uh… Linda is still on set, and she’s expected to return later. Mr. Foster, what brings you here?” shereplied, her smile unwavering

He nodded and inquired, “In which room is she staying? Can you take me to her?”

Jennifer hesitated briefly, then replied, “Mr. Foster, it may not be very convenient today. Linda’s bestfriend has come to visit, and they’re sharing the same room.”

A slight furrow appeared on Luke’s brows, and he turned to Nicholas for input.

Nicholas stepped forward and calmly stated, “I will arrange for a separate room for Nancy and retrieveher luggage. Take me to Linda’s room, please.”

She wore another polite smile but was still uncertain. She spoke, “Mr. Foster, this decision was madewithout Linda and Ms. Nancy’s consent. What if they replace out?”

Nicholas assured her, “I will handle the explanation.”

Jennifer was feeling extremely flustered by now. She hadn’t anticipated such a complicated situationwhen leaving for the hotel. Dealing with one tricky scenario was one thing, but now she found herselfentangled in a bigger issue. One problem was already challenging enough, and now she had themisfortune of confronting two simultaneously. Both of these men held significant influence, andoffending either of them would have severe consequences, especially when considering Linda’s future.

Luke sensed Jennifer’s unease and spoke directly to her. “Are you uncomfortable with this situation,Jennifer?”

She forced a polite smile and replied, “No, not at all. I’ll take you to her.”

The group then walked towards the elevator.

Unexpectedly, a voice called out from behind. “Jennifer, I’m back!”

Jennifer immediately stopped, her mind racing. I’m in trouble!

As she turned around, she noticed that both Luke and Nicholas had turned as well. Their attractivefaces quickly became serious upon seeing Linda and Nancy, who were barely conscious, struggling tostand, and unable to open their eyes due to being intoxicated.

A tense atmosphere surrounded the two men.

Luke took Linda into his arms and looked at Jennifer with a piercing gaze, asking, “Is this your idea of‘filming? What is happening here? Is this a drunken scene?”

Meanwhile, Nicholas had picked up Nancy in a bridal carry and proceeded towards the elevator ahead.
