Chapter 16 Nancy, You Were Jealous
Nancy stumbled, turned around, and ran away quickly.
She didn’t dare to look at the rest of the scenes.
She would have never opened that door if she could regret what she had just done.
Nicholas, do you know how cruel you are?’ Nancy leaned against the wall, breathing heavily.
Her heart ached, and she had no choice but to endure it.
It would be as if numbing the heart would stop hurting.
Suddenly, her stomach churned, and Nancy rushed to the bathroom, throwing up violently.
In the end, Nancy had vomited everything from her breakfast. By the time she finished, nothing was leftin her stomach but bitter bile.
Nancy couldn’t remember how long she had been vomiting, but she found herself hunched over thesink. Her black hair was messy on her face, her face was so pale, and she looked utterly disheveled.
At that moment, a knocking came from outside the door, “Nancy, open the door.”
It was Nicholas’ voice.
He had followed her.
They had already kissed, so why was he still following her? Was he going to hurt her even more?
Nancy leaned against the door, her tired body slid down, and she didn’t want to respond. She tried topretend she hadn’t heard anything.
But Nicholas’ voice grew firmer, “I know you’re in there. I’ll give you three minutes. If you don’t open thedoor, I’ll break it down.”
In the end, Nancy was frightened by this threat. She stood up in the last few seconds and turned thedoor lock.
“Why did you lock yourself in?” Nicholas frowned as he looked at her messy hair.
I’m not in a good mood!” she replied.
At this point, there wasn’t anything worth hiding.
Just because she hugged mer

“Just a hug?” Nancy raised her eyelids, looking at him coldly. “I saw you kissed her. Are you going totell me something is wrong with my eyes, or are you two just in the wrong position?”
Who would believe such a clumsy lie?
She wasn’t a three-year-old child anymore.
“Are you jealous?” Nicholas gazed at her eyes deeply-
Nancy had been trying to hold back, but she suddenly felt overwhelmed by his question.
She stepped forward, put her head on Nicholas’ chest, and used her delicate fingers to poke his chestplayfully. In a heart-wrenchingly soft voice, she said, “Nicholas, you can’t treat me like this.”
“I know you want a divorce from me, but we haven’t divorced yet. I’m still your wife, and you shouldremember your identity.”
Indeed, she was mad.
It seemed jealousy was a natural trait for women.
Even if the person she loved wasn’t him.
“Don’t you not love me? Why are you jealous?” Suddenly, Nicholas asked.
Nancy was furious. She reached out and grabbed his tie, her expression resembling that of an angrylittle wildcat, “So, according to you, since you don’t love me, I can go out and have some fun and replace abunch of young and handsome guys. After all, you don’t care, right?”
“Don’t you dare!”
Nicholas was instantly infuriated, gritting his teeth, “Remember your identity, Nancy, we haven’tdivorced.”
“You should remember your identity too. If you keep getting close to Madelline like this, I’ll go tonightclubs and replace some young and handsome guys,” Nancy answered confidently.
“What are young and handsome guys?” Nicholas frowned.
Nancy pouted, “Well, they’re not like

you.”
“You!” Nancy looked at him. Her heart skipped a beat, but she quickly put the panic away and said,“You are the level of an uncle, and compared to them, you have no market competition”
“Repeat it!” Nicholas was a bit angry. He pinched Nancy’s car with one hand.

Nancy’s ears were sensitive, and being pinched like that made her heart skip a beat, and her earsturned red instantly.
She licked her lips and said, “Young guys are youthful and have good stamina but tend to beunreliable. Older men are better, gentler, wealthier, more handsome, and more considerate. They arethe top choice for all women.”
Unfortunately, older men often already had someone in their hearts, so what was the use of beinggood?
Nancy didn’t say this out loud. It was hidden deep in her heart.
Nicholas’ expression softened considerably, and his gaze toward her became gentler.
“Why did you come to replace me?” Returning to the main topic, Nicholas asked.
Remembering her purpose, Nancy immediately said, “Grandpa said he wants us to return to themansion for a few days and spend more time with him. I’ve already agreed to have dinner with. himtogether.”
“Alright, wait for me.”
“Okay.”
After turning the corner, Nicholas walked into Madelline’s ward while Nancy waited outside the
room.
Initially, she thought it would be settled in a few minutes. When Nicholas pushed the door and cameout, Nancy thought everything was settled.
“Madelline wants to see you.”
Nancy clenched her fists and furrowed her brow. After a moment of hesitation, she gathered thecourage to speak, “But I don’t want to see her.”
At that moment, Madelline’s voice came from inside the room, “Nancy, I have no ill intentions. I want tosee you and apologize.”
Apologize?
Forget it. That would never happen.
Besides, it was clear that this was all just an act for Nicholas to see. Why should she cooperate?
Suddenly, a warm hand touched her, and Nicholas held her tiny hand, leading her to Madelline’sbeduide

the person who hit me so quickly if it weren’t for you. I also want to sincerely apologize for whathappened yesterday. It was my mistake. The property division is your and Nicholas’ matter. I shouldn’thave interfered.”
“So, I’m sorry.”
Nancy didn’t want to hear these hypocritical words.
To end the conversation quickly, she responded reluctantly, “Let’s put this matter behind us. Take careof your health.”
“In that case, have you forgiven ine?” Madelline looked surprised, and her expression was full ofexcitement.
“Yes, Nancy replied with a lack of enthusiasm.
When she thought the conversation was over and she could leave, Madelline suddenly spoke again.
“Nancy, I have an unpleasant request since you’ve forgiven me. When you return to the old house thistime, could you retrieve your marriage certificate from Grandpa?”
Huh!
Nancy’s heart sank. She knew Madelline wasn’t that kind-hearted after all.
After talking for so long, this was what she wanted all along.
It made sense. Without the marriage certificate, Nancy couldn’t be officially divorced from Nicholaseven if she had signed the divorce papers.
Madelline was quite thoughtful, doing her best to hurry Nancy away.
“I’m sorry,” Nancy refused directly and decisively this time. “This decision depends on Grandpa, notme. I won’t force him. Besides, he’s not in a good condition now. So, I will respect whatever decision hemakes.”
With that, Nancy pulled away from Nicholas’ hand and left.
As they rode back to the mansion, the atmosphere inside the car was tranquil. It was so silent that theycould have heard a pin drop.
“How did she know our marriage certificate is in Grandpa’s hand?” Nancy looked at Nicholas andcouldn’t help but ask.
