Mr. Webb Make Your Move! by Tammy Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Zara’s colleagues were sincerely looking out for her. “Zara, have you made the calculations? Your contract will expire in a month. If you don’t come back to the headquarters, Mr. Webb might not renew your contract.
“It’ll be automatically terminated when the time comes, and that’s it for you. Even if you want to call it quits, you should wrap things up at the headquarters. It’ll make your resume shine.”
Zara had not been thinking about that, but she figured that she should go back and see things for herself.
The day Yosef was due to visit the branch, she put on a full face of makeup and slipped into a crisp white dress. She waited right at the company’s front door.
Ten minutes ticked by, and then three sleek cars rolled up. They came to a smooth stop at the foot of the steps.
The moment the car door swung open, Yosef stepped out. Zara’s smile was just about to bloom when she caught sight of someone else stepping out from the other side of the car.
Beatrice.
Seeing was indeed believing. Yosef really did bring her along wherever he went.
Zara’s feet paused for just a second, but she pushed forward and called out with respect, “Mr. Webb.”
Yosef glanced at her for just a moment and did not say a word. He marched up the steps and disappeared into the building with the manager of the branch company.
Zara looked at his back. He had a preference for black suits. They were tailor-made to fit his body shape, showing off his broad shoulders and long legs. The guy was a knockout.
Beatrice hurried over to Zara, greeting Zara in a soft voice, “Ms. Lowry, it’s been ages.”
She blinked, looking cute and innocent.
Zara gave a small nod.
As the lead on the project, it was her job to spearhead the presentation to the president.
There were international clients in attendance, but Zara spoke with easy confidence, switching between French and English as needed. She peppered her talk with light-hearted jokes that had everyone chuckling along.
Her presentation went on for 40 minutes, but no one found it boring. When she wrapped up, the room erupted in applause.
Yosef also joined in the clapping, though he kept a poker face. Zara could not tell if he was genuinely impressed or just being polite.
With a modest smile, she gracefully took a bow and stepped down from the stage.
Yosef was at the head of the table. As Zara walked by, she pretended to accidentally bump into the table corner and murmured a soft ‘oops’. She then bent over.
Her chestnut curls that smelled of gardenias lightly grazed the man’s hand on the table.
When Zara straightened up, her eyes locked with Yosef’s.
His gaze was deep and dark, ever so attractive.
She pursed her lips and straightened up before walking past him.
Her seat was fifth down the line, right past Beatrice, who was busy scribbling notes with her head lowered. Her hair hid the side of her face, and her expression could not be seen.
Once the meeting ended, Yosef was the first to leave, and the others trickled out after him. Zara took her time packing up. It was not until the meeting room was empty that she grabbed her documents and headed for the door.
That was when someone walked in.
The guy was towering, standing at six foot three. With him just standing there, he seemed to block the exit entirely.
Zara leaned back with a relaxed smile. “What brings you back, Mr. Webb? Forgot something?”
“I did leave something behind…” Before she knew it, Yosef had swept her up in his arms and set her down on the meeting table. His body was positioned between her legs, his hands on the table’s edge. She was completely trapped in his arms.
Their proximity was electric, their light scents mingling in the air, telling tales of a reunion long overdue.
“You’ve been away for business for two months. What have you been learning here? Have you kept yourself busy mastering the art of seduction?” Yosef’s voice was a low rumble, sultry and alluring.
Zara tugged at his tie, her voice a whisper. “It sounds like you’ve already come to your judgment, Mr. Webb. So why should I bother saying anything?”
Yosef lowered his gaze. “You weren’t wearing perfume when you arrived at the company, but by the time the meeting started, you were. You can’t tell me that wasn’t on purpose.”
Zara’s smile was coy. “You’re keeping a close eye on me, aren’t you, Mr. Webb?”
Before she could say another word, Yosef’s kiss silenced her.
