Mr. Webb Make Your Move! by Tammy Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Zara’s interest fizzled out in an instant.
No matter what Yosef did or how many times he tried, she just could not feel a thing.
-Raised right, old–school, not big on ‘doing that kinda stuff‘ before marriage.
What was that supposed to mean? Was he planning to put a ring on Beatrice’s finger?

Zara returned to Azure Cloud’s headquarters for work. She was still Yosef’s secretary, but she had been silently bumped down from chief secretary to just general secretary.
Her old desk was now Beatrice’s, and Zara was relegated to the desk Beatrice used to sit at as an assistant.
It was next to the door and in a corner–as inconspicuous as it could be. As no one had sat here for a long time, the table was full of clutter. Zara’s return caught everyone off guard, and the admin team had not gotten around to clearing up the desk.
The whole thing was pretty awkward, but Zara kept her cool. She did not bother the admin team and took care of things herself.
As soon as Beatrice arrived at the office, she zoomed over. “Ms. Lowry, I’m so sorry. I wanted to get here earlier to clean up, but I got stuck in traffic… I’ll pack my things and return your desk to you right away.”
Zara used the rag to wipe away the dust on her desk. “The stuff here belongs to the company, not to me. Mr. Webb says that’s your seat, so you take it.”
Beatrice bit her lip, looking all apologetic: “Then… let me help you with that.”
Zara did not give her the time of day, so Beatrice volunteered to move the items to storage.
On her way back, she swung by the restroom to wash up. She had not even stepped inside when she heard two female employees inside taking advantage of the minutes before work to gossip while putting on makeup.
“Guess who’s back in town? Ms. Lowry,” one whispered.
“Yep, caught wind of that yesterday. She tagged along with Mr. Webb from Feria. Bet she’ll be clocking in today.”
“I knew it. Mr. Webb just can’t let go of Ms, Lowry.“‘
Beatrice froze mid–stride.

“Ms. Lowry’s a whiz at her job, no doubt about it. But when it comes to other things… Mr. Webb’s got Beatrice, right?”
The other colleague shushed her. “Shut it! Remember the person from the marketing department who got fired? Don’t go around saying things like that!”
The first employee shrugged it off. “Chill, it’s just us here. If you don’t say a word, who will know?”
Fair point. The second employee chimed in, “I think Mr. Webb likes Ms. Lowry more.‘
“Totally. Ms. Lowry has been by Mr. Webb’s side for three years, and they’ve gone through thick and thin together.”
Makeup done, the two employees strutted out. They almost jumped out of their skin at the sight of Beatrice.
Beatrice greeted them while looking natural, “Good morning.”
It looked like she had just arrived and missed their entire chat, so they forced an awkward smile at her. “Morning! You’re here early.”
With that, they scurried off.
Come noon, Zara and Yosef were off to meet a client. Beatrice was also called to join.
Rumor had it that Yosef never met a client without Beatrice by his side. It was to train her with the intention of making her his chief secretary.
As they strolled to the car, Zara was briefing Yosef on the agenda. She informed him of the people in attendance and what needed to be paid attention to.
Beatrice was not able to get a word in. She jogged a few steps ahead to open the car door for them. Before she could even open the door, however, she winced.
Yosef noticed it. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing,” she said. She then pulled the door open with both hands, acting as if her hand
was injured.
Yosef’s brows were furrowed, “What happened to your hand?”
“Just a small twist, maybe from lifting something heavy,” Beatrice said as she massaged her
elbow.
Yosef appeared displeased. “Lifting what, exactly?”
“Ms. Lowry’s desk was cluttered, so I helped move some stuff to storage. I think I accidentally
in a low voice.
“Look at your thin arms and legs, you’re not built for heavy lifting. Don’t be so quick to take action next time. There are others to do such things.”
He then glanced at Zara. “Go ahead and meet up with the client. I’ll take her to the hospital to get her hand checked.”
Beatrice was quick to wave her hands in rejection. “Really, it’s fine, Mr. Webb. After meeting the client, I’ll swing by a pharmacy later and get some ointment.”
Zara watched the exchange with a cool gaze and chimed in, “The client came a long way, Mr. Webb. It’s not a good idea to skip the meeting.”
Yosef revised his plan. “Alright, you go to the pharmacy to get some ointment for Beatrice. We’ll head on to the meeting.”
Beatrice said, “Sorry to trouble you, Ms. Lowry.”
They hopped into the car, which zoomed right by Zara without stopping.
