Avery’s pov
Xade’s eyes narrowed. ” Who?”
Henry wiped the blood from his brow and shrugged. ” As much as I would want to tell you now, I rather have your father here so he can tell me if I am right about it or not,” he looked around. ” And besides, I kind of need medical attention don’t you think?” he says sarcastically as he points at the gash above his eyebrow.
I am thankful that he was at least clothed, however, I could see the blood seeping through the shirt and pants which reveals that he was wounded a lot. Xade’s jaw ticked in irritation.
I squeezed his hand. “Have him looked at first. This can wait until your dad gets here?”
Xade’s eyes soften when he glances at me and he nods. ” Fine,” he nudges the hunter who now had a defiant look in his eyes, glaring at Xade and me.
“Get this bastard in the dungeon,” he looks at Xaden and Henry. When Dad gets here you better tell us everything you know.”
Henry throws a hand over his chest in feigned hurt. ” You know it hurts that you don’t trust me after everything I have done not only for you but your brother,”
Xade rolls his eyes and tugs me toward the house. ” Go get checked up Henry,” he said sarcastically. When we got inside, I looked at him in question. “Do you not trust him?”
Xade looks at me, his eyes a lot warmer than it had been outside when he was glaring at Henry and the hunter. “It’s not that I don’t want to, but Henry is part of the council. His only loyalty is to Alister the council’s leader. ”
That’s not entirely true,” A soft voice came from the living room area and Kaylee appears in front of us suddenly. “He went behind Alister’s back to save me from being killed. He may be loyal to Alister but he’s a good man who sees right from wrong. If he wasn’t on your side he would have already involved Alister.”
Xade rubs the back of his neck and sighed, nodding. ” You’re right, but it’s not as easy to trust someone from the council,”
Kaylee nods. “I understand but Henry has shown you loyalty many times. He saved us from getting killed back there. He deserves a chance.”
Kaylee is right,” Xaden’s voice comes behind us as he opens the front door and closes it. “Henry may be annoying but the guy hasn’t gone behind our backs yet. He’s part of the council and his job was to not have you get close to Avery. But he let it happen and even saved Kaylee. He could have also been killed back there because of saving our asses. You should go easy on the guy,”
Xade’s jaw ticked. “We’ll talk about this later when Dad gets here,”
“When I get here to discuss what?” The door opens and Xadeon and Eloise step in, both looking tired.
Xade and Xaden looked at each other and then at their parents. Seeing that both did not seem to be on the verge of telling him, I decided to. Henry helped us escape the hunters in the woods. However he brought a hunter back here,”
Xadeon grows stiff and Eloise’s brows joins into a furrow.
“He showed us a tattoo,” Xade continues.” He said you should be very familiar with it.”
Xadeon takes a firm step forward. ” Is the tattoo an axe on the collarbone?”
Xade and Xaden look at each other before Xaden nods. “It was. Why? Do you know something?”
Xadeon’s jaw ticked and his hands fists at his sides, eyes storming. Where is the hunter?”
I have placed him in the dungeon. What do you know?” Xade demanded, looking frustrated to be left in the dark.
Xadeon turns around and snarls under his breath. ” Of course it’s him. I should have known.”
“Who?” Xade demanded, rushing over to Xadeon who was already making his way out of the house.
“My sister’s mate!” Xadeon roared. “I should have known it was his group.”
