Jessica

“So, I’ll pick you up in the next hour?”

“Yeah, I can’t stop you even if I say no, can I?” I teased, looking at him in his dark designer jeans and fitted collared shirt which shows off his strong arms perfectly, begging me to run my fingers to them. I gazed at my handsome man, I can’t believe I was even with him.

“You can’t, I’ll see you later, call me if you finish early.” His reply took me back to the current situation.

He pulled me in for a k**s before I headed to the lobby of my psychiatrist’s building. She was surprised seeing me, saying that I looked happy and that she had never seen me that happy.

“Dr. Sheridan, please…”

“You’re practically glowing, Jess.”

“Tell me, what has been happening?”

“I love him,” I giggled blurted out the words as if I was talking to my thirteen-year-old girlfriend on a sleepover talking about boys.

She laughed and told me that she’s happy for me, that I’m making very good progress.

We talked until my hour is up and I was scheduled for another meeting.

“Let’s try a thirty minutes meet next time?”

“Why? are you getting busy with your schedule?”

“Oh no, Jess. It’s you…you’re getting better. And much as I like taking your payment, I want you to be more confident with yourself…”

She explained to me about the why, and less than half an hour later I was leaving her office to meet Tyler. He was already in the lobby, busying himself by ordering coffee.

“Wow, you looked like you just aced your exams…so?”

“She’s cutting me back on my hours, I’m making progress!”

I smiled brightly at him finally rewarded myself by touching his strong arms and greeted him with a k**s, making him pull me closer for a deeper one.

“You need to learn how to k**s me properly.” He smirked and give me his coffee.

“What? sharing is caring.”

I was too happy to even commented on his words. We were about to have lunch when his mom called panicking telling him that his dad broke his arm when he fell in the bathroom.

“Where? mom, the hospital, where are you taking him?”

I tensed when I hear the words, but said nothing when Tyler grabbed my hand and hurried ourselves walking to the parking lot.

“She’s panicking she hasn’t even called an ambulance…”

He was telling me to call one while he was busy driving his car, avoiding dense traffic roads to arrive at his parents.

The man asked when he realized I hit Rebecca’s number on my speed dial and gave his parents’ house address.

“I thought you’re calling an ambulance?”

“I told her to call one, but just in case she will surely be there faster.”

He nodded, didn’t asked anything further when he speeds up and we finally arrived at his parents within moments. I relaxed when I saw Rebecca getting out of her car.

“Please come inside…” he leads after opening the front door. The house was quiet and Tyler was leading us straight to the master bedroom, and that’s when we heard it.

Rebecca must’ve seen my face when she told me to go wait for the EMTs downstairs.

“They should be here any moment, good afternoon Mr. Richardson, my name is Rebecca, I’m a doctor, friend of Jessica. I’m going to check on your arm and your vitals. Tyler if you can help me hold him to sit up? Mrs. Richardson, would you like to wait for the ambulance with Jessica?…”

Her words and professional demeanor were calming everyone down in a matter of seconds. And I was out the door walking towards the driveway. Rebecca knows that she didn’t want the incident to trigger my panic attack and she was right to send me to wait for the EMTs.

“Thank you for bringing your doctor friend, I’m such a mess. Alan had always been the fittest man I know, even in his older years…”

“Nancy, I’m so sorry,” I hugged her, knowing that she needed it more than she thought she would.

“…but I know Rebecca will take very good care of your husband. She will refer him to the best specialist in the country,”

We were talking, I was taking her hand and she finally relaxes when we saw the ambulance entering the driveway.

From there everything was hectic, and I didn’t realize that Tyler was taking me to the hospital asking me to be with his mom while he goes with Rebecca and his dad.

I nodded and smile at him then back to be with his mom the moment we arrived at the hospital.

Then I cursed on the inside when we arrived at the same hospital where I usually go to back then. I just wished no nurses and doctors would recognize me sitting in the waiting area. But as usual, my luck preceded me when the older nurse and Dr. Hayes greeted me.

“Ms. Robinson, are you waiting for the emergency doctor? I don’t believe we have an appointment.”

His face was telling it all, the worry, the pity when he takes a seat to my side while nurse Maggie was looking around as if trying to replace the nurse in charge for me.

“I’m fine Dr. Hayes, Maggie, please…I’m with…I’m accompanying Mrs. Richardson, her husband is being admitted. He broke his arm…”

“Jessica?”

And my luck just kept on getting better, I know how it looks like when the handsome doctor was taking my hand in his and Tyler was looking at us with a questioning look.

I pulled my hand instinctively, I know he loves me, I know I was his and somehow being caught holding hands with another man was taking me back to when I was Troy’s little sister and he saw me when Brodie MacMillan was touching my hand. That night he broke my wrist making sure that Brodie won’t touch it again.

“Tyler, hey…how’s your dad?”

His mom who was watching me, all that time didn’t say a word then she was to Tyler’s side demanding the latest update on her husband.

“Mom, he’s okay, he’s being treated, they’re going to put a cast on his hand.”

Dr. Hayes stood up and was about to excuse himself when Tyler look at him and asked him if he was my doctor.

“I was, Ms. Robinson was referred to me for her psychological evaluation.”

Tyler nodded but his eyes were on his name tag and thanked him for treating me.

“I’m her boyfriend, Tyler Richardson, and yes I’m aware of her previous visits to this hospital.”

Dr. Hayes nodded and Maggie the older nurse gave me her sweetest smile when Tyler was to my side and rubbed my shoulder gently.

“Dr. Hayes, your one o’clock should be waiting for you. Let me get the files for your next patient, and Mrs. Richardson, would like me to escort you to see your husband?”

Dr. Hayes and Maggie shared a look and he nodded then dismissed himself to his next appointment. While his mom hugged Tyler and walked with nurse Maggie to see her husband.

“I know your look just then Jessica, are you seriously afraid of me when you pull your hand away from him?”

“Tyler…”

“I can be a jealous and possessive man, would never, ever beat you, you know that right?”

He looked really upset, but then he pulled me in and I rest my head on his warm chest, I was feeling the comfort that I always feel whenever I’m in his arms.

“I know, I’m sorry, I’ll work on it.”

“I love you, I’d never hurt you. I promised.”

He finally let me go and we decided to get some coffee and tea for his mom.

“So, we’re back to boyfriend?”

“Yeah, I don’t know about man-friend, and partner seemed too business-like,”

I smiled and let him kissed the top of my head when he draped his arm around my shoulder.

“Oh, I don’t like Dr. Hayes,”

I drink my tea and feel the calmness of the hot beverage in my system. Then smiled knowing that he was stating his jealousy for the good-looking doctor.

“He’s married and his wife is super hot.”

“Okay, I can tolerate him then.”

I slapped his chest playfully and let him lead us to the elevator.

“Come on let’s get to your dad, I really don’t like being in hospitals.”

“Okay.”

The hospital visit lasted for three hours until his dad was finally cleared under the condition that Rebecca will do a house visit since he was supposed to be staying one night for observation.

His mom thanked me again for bringing Rebecca and having her arranged for Alan to be cleared.

“I think mom is starting to like you.”

“What’s not to like about me?” I kissed him and let him be with her mom and dad while I rest back at his place.
