My Daughter -
My Daughter 2
Chapter 2
I stared at Ken in disbelief, but he remained anxious, unable to meet my eyes. I placed my daughter on a chair and grabbed Ken’s arm.
“Where’s the money? That was for Diana’s
surgery! Are you insane?”
Ken looked at me coldly and shook off my hand.
“I’m not insane. Hannah has cancer. The doctor said she needs surgery tonight!”
“And what about our daughter? Don’t you know if she doesn’t have surgery tonight, she’ll die?” I lunged at him, shaking his arm violently.
Ken frowned, pausing for a moment. “Cloris! Stop it! Even if you hate her, you shouldn’t curse

your own daughter like this.”
Ken glanced at Diana’s frighteningly pale face, his eyes void of any emotion. “Do you think I’d believe our daughter is pretending to be sick, Cloris? Do you think I’d fall for these tricks again?”
When I pursued Ken, I once fell seriously ill and
needed his care. But Hannah had poisoned his mind with lies, making him believe I was faking it. Then he coldly accused me of faking my
illness to toy with him, creating a rift between
- us.
“Money can be earned again, but Hannah’s life is irreplaceable!”
Ken’s grip was stronger this time, throwing me

to the ground.
“Ken, you’ll regret this!”
All he left me with was his indifferent back. A
wave of bitterness filled my heart.
Tears streamed down, falling onto Diana’s small face. Because of the illness, her once round, fair
cheeks were now gaunt and pale.
“Diana, we…might not have the surgery today. Daddy doesn’t want us anymore…”
“Mommy… Mommy…”
I choked, my heart aching, unable to speak.
“Mommy, don’t cry. Then no surgery… let’s go

home… I’m not in pain.”
Seeing my red eyes, Diana forced a smile on her pale face, a smile more heartbreaking than
tears.
At five, she might not understand everything, but at that moment, I felt she understood too
much.
I held her, her tiny body frail and bony.
I’ll never forget that night.
“I won’t leave you, Mommy. I want Mommy to always be happy.”
I could never forgive Ken. And I could never forgive myself.
