My Father’s Friend – Chapter 23

Cauther was completely insane, the red-haired girl speculated. He had to understand that holding her against her will was a crime, why did he insist on getting himself into such unnecessary trouble?

-You’re a fake, a traitor, you deceive everyone, but especially my father, who has helped you a lot. If it weren’t for him, you wouldn’t be where you are. If you think I’m going to stay here until you want me to, you’re very much mistaken.

-You will marry me, Casey Monroe,” he announced in an arrogant tone.

Had he heard correctly? Because it sounded to him like he was hallucinating, or that the breakfast contained some kind of hallucinogen. It wasn’t possible that the famous and discreet Cauther Lance Acrom was proposing to her… that inner voice objected, that wasn’t a marriage proposal, it wasn’t even close.

-Is that an order, Mr. Acrom? -She crosses her arms.

-You will.

-Then, if it is an order.” She looked at him angrily, how dare he impose such a command on her.

-If you want to take it that way, so be it.

Cauther turns away, leaving her with more questions than ever… but she wasn’t going to let him, she needed a lot of explaining.

-Wait a minute,” she takes him by the arm, stopping him immediately, “I’m not going to do anything you’re ordering me to do, I have no intention of marrying you and even less after buying me in that place, what can I expect from a man who goes once a month to buy a woman in a bar where innocent girls are kidnapped?

The CEO looked at Casey’s delicate fingers on his jacket and got a strange kind of tingle inside him that confused him a lot. He turns around to confront her once and for all.

-Do you think it’s going to be a real marriage?

-What? -she asks dumbfounded.

-It won’t be, Casey. So if you were making a happy family movie, you were wrong.

-But what…

Wait a minute! What did she just say? It wasn’t going to be a real marriage. So, not the two of them… he mentally denies, pushing those thoughts out of his head.

-What do you mean?

-I mean…” He moves closer to her, coming within inches of Casey’s lips. We’re getting married out of convenience.

Interest? He just wanted to use her, but for what purpose? What did he want? And just then he understood… he wanted all the share of his father’s company.

-You’re a bastard,” she angrily shoots back, “You want to take over my father’s company at my expense.

Cauther half smiles, he thought. At that, the CEO notices Casey’s lips, so full and appetizing. The truth is, he was itching to k**s her again until her lips were swollen, then he thought, why not, after all, he was going to make her his wife.

Watching Casey’s brow furrow, Cauther closed the little space between them, taking her lips with fury and speed, more like a stolen k**s. Well, one of the many he’d already stolen from her… he wasn’t surprised to receive the k**s back, so that gave him the confidence to hold her around the waist as he devoured her tongue with fiery passion.

There was something about this woman that made his b***d run hot and made him not want to let her go, it certainly confused him, but he didn’t care much about that, as the heat in his body was far more powerful than reason. So he grabbed her buttocks and pulled her up to his waist. Automatically, she wrapped her legs around his body and pressed him against her chest.

Neither of them cared that they were in the middle of the dining room, they were devouring each other like a couple of teenagers. As if there was no tomorrow, the chemistry between them at that moment was so powerful, and the fieriness inside them didn’t allow them to think clearly.

Especially Casey, her brain was blank, after complaining to Cauther about his cheekiness, he just walked up and kissed her. He was making a habit of kissing her without warning, and the worst part was that she was allowing him to do it, but the young woman couldn’t replace an answer, as the man’s tongue almost reached her throat and with that she lost herself in a black hole, letting out a long m**n that only encouraged Cauther to hold her tighter than normal.

-We can go ahead to the wedding night, after we’re married we’ll have to consummate the marriage,” the CEO commented in a faint whisper.

That comment was like the trigger for Casey to snap out of her depraved musings, did that fucker intend to f**k her on the wedding night? Did he really mean for her to marry him, the bastard was kidding. And she as the idiot herself, responding to his f*****g k****s and seductive charms.

Filled with rage, Casey pulled away from Cauther violently. There was surprise in her eyes, but also defiance.

-I won’t marry you, I won’t give you the luxury of keeping my father’s company entirely. Whatever you do, you won’t get me to marry you Cauther. Let alone lay a goddamn finger on me.

And with those words Casey turns to leave, he thought. He was such a self-serving jerk, he couldn’t even make an effort to make a better marriage proposal, maybe he would have thought about it and….

-What? -She stops. “Thought about it? Am I crazy, like, thought about it… I have nothing to think about. That idiot will never become my husband, let alone pretend to sleep with him.

As Casey came up the stairs ranting who-knows-what, Cauther let out his breath.

-That woman is a case,” he takes out a cigarette and lights it. But it’ll be interesting to make her my wife, maybe it won’t turn out so bad after all.” He looked at the time on his watch, realizing he had to go to a meeting. Ahs!

-You’ve been looking like an idiot since the stupid new girl left, forget about her. I’m sure she’ll be dead in a couple of days,” Serena thought to herself.

-Erika, the envy shows from a distance.

-Are you crazy? Do you think I want that guy to buy me and kill me?

-Well, it seems like it, every time he buys one of the girls you always have something to say about it.

-I don’t want a maniac to buy me,” she replies, pinching her food. But I recommend that you forget about that girl, by now, she probably couldn’t even stand that guy.

Serena ignored her, still staring at her plate without much desire to eat. She thinks about the words said by Erika, on one hand she was right, probably that girl already… she denies, she kept a little bit of hope that Casey was still alive.

-By the way, someone has been with the same man for nights in a row,” Lucilda whispers as she looks sideways at the brunette.

All the girls watched Serena slyly, but the girl didn’t look up. It was the last thing she wanted to happen, to attract the attention of the girls.

-You seem to have done your job very well,” Erika, who was Mark’s favourite, spoke up. She’s not asking me anymore, now she’s asking you, are you this week’s new boy toy?

Serena didn’t want to hear any more bullshit from that woman, or any of the girls. She wasn’t about to tell them anything about what she knew about Mark, if any of them found out that she knew his real name, and the way he touched her, or the freedom he gave her to express herself during and after s*x it could cause some inconvenience.

The best thing to do was to keep her mouth shut, and act as if nothing was going on behind the doors. The brunette stood up, taking the tray in her hands. She knew she was the centre of everyone’s attention, but she didn’t give a shit what they speculated.

-As always, she kept to herself,” Lucilda replied, returning her gaze to her plate.

But the only one who didn’t look back at her plate of food was Erika, who was scowling at her and couldn’t take her eyes off her. She didn’t like the fact that this customer was changing her for another one, of all the men who attended the bar, this was the only one she liked and the reason was because he was the most attractive and youngest of them all.

If he continued to pick Serena every time he visited, she would be stuck with the slimy dirty old men she hated so much.
