My Father’s Friend – Chapter 33

At that moment, everything his father had told him came to mind. The reason he decided to stay in that house, and next to Cauther… Casey sat on the edge of the bed clasping her hands together as she listened to the shower faucet being turned on.

-Casey, what Cauther does isn’t what you think,” Rafael began to relate, capturing the redhead’s attention. As you know, his father messed with the wrong guys and because of him his wife and daughter died, what you don’t know is the real story behind that story you know. They were part of the debt that Cauther’s father was tied to. Unfortunately, both were unlucky and didn’t make it out of that deal alive.

-Dad, what are you talking about?

-They were taken to that place where you were, they were sold night after night, and… well Cauther’s mother decided to take her own life and because the daughter couldn’t tolerate the loss of her mother and being in that place she followed her down that dark path. The father of this boy ended up being killed because they were no longer alive, while Cauther managed to run away when he was only 15 years old and that’s when I found him and gave him my protection.

-No, that can’t…

-He grew up, he made a huge fortune, power and… although I asked him again and again not to enter that life, he didn’t listen to me. He said that he was going to replace the guy who dragged his mother and sister to that place and pushed them to the edge. Of course, his father was to blame for everything, but someone pushed the man into that world. And that’s who he’s been looking for for many years.

-But what about the kidnapped girls? The ones he’s been buying. In that place he has a very bad reputation, everyone is afraid of him, they say horrible things about him.

-It’s the reputation he has to earn to stay in that world, he’s been buying girls for years. But he has his reasons for doing so.

The red-haired girl was more than surprised, Cauther’s past life was so sad and gloomy that it made her heart shudder and squeeze deeply. Now she was very curious to know more about him. And all those dreadful things he had said to her, she now felt so terrible and so guilty.

-What are these motives, father?

-It would be better if he told you himself, child. Well, if you like.

-Father, tell me once for all. I have been living with him in this house, do you remember?

-Listen to me, don’t judge him by what he does. I asked Cauther to get you out of wherever you were stuck, he didn’t know you were in that place. By the time I asked him to look for you, in a couple of days he called me to inform me that he had found you. I offered him a lot of money to pay for your freedom, but he refused and paid it all.

-Why did he do that?

-I don’t know… then he told me that, before I asked him to replace you, he was already doing it,” Casey’s heart began to rumble frantically in his chest at that fact.

-Why did you give him my hand, father? You know that if I marry him, my little share in the company will be his, too. Cauther would be the owner for more percentage, father.

-I did it to protect you.

-What?

-Cauther put this condition on me, if he wanted you to stay alive he needed you to become his wife, being under his protection you’d be safe from whoever kidnapped you. Believe it or not, he has much more power than I do. Being his wife, no one would touch you.

-For God’s sake!

Something wasn’t right, she could smell it from a distance… her father was leaving out something important.

-Daughter, your abduction was no accident. Someone wants to hurt you very badly.

-What? -She knew, there was something else… -She stands up.

-He knew you wouldn’t be safe at home, so he brought you to his. That’s why he won’t let you leave, or call, it’s best that you stay here until he replaces out who’s behind all this. But it’s up to you whether or not you want to go through with this plan.

-Should I marry him just so he can protect me?

-That was his condition. I still don’t understand why, he knows I don’t agree with this union. But I would do anything for you. After all, when all this is over, you will be able to separate from him.

Separate? Is that what he would want to do next? Her father had cleared up a lot of doubts, but on the other hand, he filled her with more. At least it made her see that Cauther had a good reason for doing what he was doing, after thinking he was a villain, it turned out he could be the hero, or more or less. For he was still an arrogant bastard.

-Well, daughter, will you stay, or will you go home with me? -She looks at her father carefully.

-I will stay, father, and be Cauther’s wife.

-All right,” the man replies sadly. When all this is over, I’ll release you from that marriage.

It was obvious that her father disliked the idea of his daughter marrying a guy who had a stormy life and was twice her age, but he was just a father who cared about his only daughter. Still, the fact that he said he would annul the marriage made the red-haired girl uncomfortable. But she would not contradict her father.

-All right, father.

-I must go, child,” he strokes her cheek. I’ll be anxious for you to come home….

When Raphael left the house, she stayed in that desolate mansion to wait for Cauther to notify him of her decision. But she didn’t expect him to treat her so coldly.

The red-haired woman let out a sigh as she looked down at her hands. Now she was in such a mess, she wasn’t sure whether to stay in the room or leave. If she stayed in the room, it would mean a lot, like she had feelings for Cauther. If she left, then it would prove that this idiot friend of her father’s had no power over her whatsoever.

Of course the second option was the most appropriate, and it was certainly the one she should choose. She stands up making a decision… at that moment the bathroom door opens and Cauther emerges, with a towel wrapped around his waist which covered very little, hundreds of drops of water dripped from his hairy chest and with another towel he dried his hair.

Seeing her still in her bedroom, he looked rather surprised.

-Well, if you’ve decided to stay in my room, let’s get some sleep,” she walks towards the bed, Casey blinks, but doesn’t move from her spot. Come on Casey, I’m really tired.

She turns and swallows as she watches the man strip off his towel and climb into bed like God sent him into the world, did he intend to sleep like that? Her cheeks flushed instantly, suddenly her legs turned to jelly and it was when a hand closed over her wrist that she snapped out of it. In seconds, she was lying on the bed with that man behind her and she didn’t even realise it.

-Turn off that lamp,” Cauther orders over her ear.

She obeys with her nerves on edge, only to feel him settle on her side of the bed. What the hell was he doing there then? The girl bites her lips as she blinks, unfortunately, all sleep was lost and thanks to the guy next to her.

-Sleep now.

-Don’t control my dream,” she objects. Stop controlling everything.

-You’ll get bags under your eyes, close them at once,” she adds irritably.

And how the f**k does she know his eyes were open? I hadn’t even felt him move.

-If you don’t go to sleep, I’ll replace a way to make you sleep.

-What are you talking about? -She turned her face to look at him.

-I’ll make you mine all night if possible. Would you prefer that or sleep?

-I’ll sleep! I’ll sleep! -He answers hastily, feeling angry, for it was not what he wished to answer her.

Cauther lets out his breath, he really would have preferred her to challenge him. But the coward chose to sleep… what a pity, because he was certainly dying to make love to her. If just coming out of the bathroom and replaceing her still in the bedroom turned him on so much, she amazed him, first he replaces her at home that night, and then, he gives her the option to sleep in another room, but she chooses to sleep in his bed.

It was a lot for one night and especially for his poor member, who had long been restless to take this woman next to him. It was unbelievable, he had a beautiful woman sleeping so close to him and he could do absolutely nothing to her. Cauther put his hands behind his head as he listened to Casey’s breathing, she was still awake.

Hell… he’d be a complete idiot if he didn’t make love to that woman that night.
