My Father's Friend
My Father’s Friend – Chapter 41

Cauther watches Casey take the decision in his hand, he remained serious and firm, but his heart was bursting. He would just wait for her to sign and then he would sign and get the hell out of there.

The black-haired girl bit the inner flesh of her lips, feeling a strange stinging at the corners of her eyes, was she going to cry? Was she really? Her heart was pounding so hard she thought it would burst out of her mouth. She felt so much pressure from all those eyes on her.

The sensation of looking up was so strong that she couldn’t stand it, as soon as she looked up, like a magnet her eyes connected with Cauther’s intense gaze. And that’s when she knew, she didn’t want to divorce him and the reason was that she had fallen madly in love with her father’s friend.

They looked at each other, but she saw nothing in Cauther. His gaze was so cold, so expressionless. In those moments she wished she knew what he was feeling. Then out of nowhere, the black-haired girl stood up and became the centre of attention of everyone present.

-I can’t do it,” she says, dropping her pen.

-Casey! -Her father sniffs.

Without taking her eyes off Cauther, she walks to the exit and leaves the boardroom, leaving everyone with their mouths hanging open.

-But what happened, Rafael? -asks one of the lawyers.

-I don’t know… Cauther, do you know what’s going on?

The CEO was looking at the glass door through which she had left, he wasn’t paying attention to his partner’s words, he was only thinking about what she had done. And without thinking too much he followed Casey, more or less suspecting where she was going…

As he opens the door to the roof, he sees her back to him… Cauther puts his hands in his pockets and slowly walks towards her.

-You know it’s very dangerous for you to lean on that railing? -He warns her.

-I’m so sorry, I couldn’t do it.

-Why?

-I needed to know something before I signed.” He turns away, allowing the strong breeze to ruffle his short hair.

-What is it? -Cauther stares at her.

Afraid of possible rejection, Casey walks towards Cauther. She was afraid, but she was determined to confirm if he really had absolutely no feelings for her.

Standing inches away from him, Casey lets out the breath she’s been holding since she saw him enter the boardroom.

-I’ve fallen in love with you, really fallen in love with you. I couldn’t sign because I want to know if these feelings are reciprocated. I need to know, please.

She was shaking like a flan, waiting for an answer and she wasn’t sure if it would be positive. Maybe she would only be exposed to this man, but she preferred that to getting divorced without knowing Cauther’s true feelings.

Suddenly her waist was wrapped around one of Cauther’s arms, and with that, he pulled her close to his body, almost pressing their lips together.

-Have I told you it’s dangerous to be near that railing?

-Hell, Cauther, that’s not what I’m talking about. This is very serious.

-Of course it is,” he smiles broadly.

And that’s when her mouth drops open, he’s never flashed her a smile like that before. Which throws her off a bit.

-Lucky for me you didn’t sign that paper.

-What? The red-haired girl’s heart went wide from one moment to the next.

-I didn’t want to sign it either, Casey.

-Cauther! -She exclaims in surprise.

-I love you.

Those two words were all she needed to hear from his lips, she would have made a terrible mistake if she had only listened to her father. Cauther was in love with her, as she was with him. They truly loved each other.

-What should we do now? The red-haired girl asked.

-We can go to the house and make love, I think that’s a good option,” she smiles.

-I think it’s a good idea, but I’m talking about my father and his lawyers.

-I’ll deal with them later….

-Then, yes, let’s go home.

[…]

After explaining his reasons to Rafael that neither of them intended to divorce, Cauther took his wife home. Against the old man’s complaints, the CEO didn’t give a damn. Casey was his wife, and she wanted to be with him. No one would take her away from him, unless she wanted to leave herself.

And no sooner did he get home, Cauther made love to his wife with such passion that the walls of his room shook from the screams coming from his wife’s throat, he made her enjoy it so much that her legs trembled… exhausted, the CEO looked at her with those red cheeks and all covered in a thin layer of sweat.

-I have a surprise for you.

-Oh, yeah? And what is it?

-You’ll have to get dressed and come with me.

-At this hour?

-Come on,” he encourages her to stand up.

During the drive Cauther didn’t mention anything to her, she was biting her nails, but she had to be patient. A few more minutes of driving, they both entered an impressive mansion. Not as big as the one she lived in with her husband, but impressive nonetheless.

-What are we doing here? Whose house is this?

-Mia.

Cauther gets out and she does the same, but as she does so a flurry of girls she knew very well came out of the house at the same time. She sees all the girls, but only one catches her eye.

-Serena! -she shouted.

-Caseyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!” the brunette screams running towards her.

They both hug each other tightly holding back tears, Casey had no idea that Cauther had lent one of his houses for the girls to stay in.

-Are you okay?

-Yes, and you?

-We’re all fine, congratulations because we’re going back to our lives.

The girls were up to speed on what had happened with Otto, and the guy who kidnapped Casey. Santino went about explaining to all of them that they could go back to their families.

-But not you,” the red-haired girl stopped his words. Stay with me, you can stay. I’d give you a job in my father’s company, so we’d be together.

-You’re very pretty, Casey. But I have to make a life for myself, don’t worry. I’ll know how to get ahead. But I promise I’ll always visit you, you’re my friend.

-All right. -When are you leaving?

-Tomorrow, we’re all leaving tomorrow.

Casey looks sideways at her husband, who was standing away from the group of girls. He talked to Santino, but glanced at her from time to time. Casey felt much more love for the man, even though she didn’t like strangers invading her space, she allowed those girls to have their home.

-He’s a great man, I think we all owe him an apology.

-It’s not necessary for them to do that, I think he’d get in the car and leave them with their words in their mouths. I’m sure he knows how grateful you all are.

-I’m sorry for how badly I treated you, but I’m sorry, it was a lot of years locked up in that crappy place,” Erika excuses herself.

-Don’t worry, the important thing is that they’re all getting back to their lives.

After the goodbyes, Casey and Cauther returned home that night. Santino informed his boss that he would take them home one by one. The black-haired girl was reassured by that, but not so much, as she was left worrying about her friend.

-Your friend will be fine, I’m sure she’ll pull through.

-I hope so.

-I can help her without her knowing, I think you’d feel more at ease.

-No, it’s better if we stay out of it. If she found out, I’m sure she’d be very angry with me.

-As you wish. So, home?

-Yes. -She smiles at him.

I wanted to thank her, but it was better if I didn’t say anything. He didn’t seem to like that kind of affection, but she knew other kinds of thanks without him knowing they were thanks.
