Chapter 10

A scream echoed throughout the entire mansion.

Slap!

A crisp slap sound followed.

Xylia’s reaction was completely instinctual, and she immediately slapped Magnus.

Magnus, who was completely unprepared, was hit squarely in the face.

He hissed in pain.

“You’re crazy!” Magnus couldn’t help but blurt out in anger.

Xylia’s face was somewhat pale, as she felt turmoil inside her body. That palm strike she had just received indeed caused her considerable injury.

She curled up in the corner, tightly covering herself with a blanket, and warned, “Don’t come any closer, or I will never forgive you!”

At that moment, she felt like she had fallen into the hands of a demon.

Upon seeing this scene, Magnus was both annoyed and amused. “What on earth do you want to do?”

“What do you mean by ‘what do you want to do“? You asshole, you are living in my house and yet you dare to hit me!” Xylia said, feeling more and more wronged, her eyes gradually turning red.

Magnus was speechless for a moment before he retorted, “You have the nerve to cry? You are the one who came to my room late at night. Don’t you think I can report you for breaking into a private residence?”

Xylia tried to bluster and said, “I, I…”

She didn’t dare to say that she wanted to monitor him and was momentarily at a loss for words.

“What do you mean by ‘I‘?” asked Magnus. His tone softened a bit, he waved his hand and said, “Come here, let me take a look at your injury.”

“No!” Xylia immediately refused and then defiantly said, “Let me tell you, if it weren’t for my carelessness, you wouldn’t have been able to hurt me.”

“Carelessness?” Magnus scoffed.

Just now, if he hadn’t held back, he could have killed this woman with a single slap..

However, he didn’t feel like arguing with Xylia anymore.

Xylia saw Magnus willingly step aside, and despite her injuries, she quickly escaped.

Magnus shook his head helplessly.

After Xylia returned to her room, she could no longer hold back, and large tears streamed down from her eyes.

Asshole, how dare you hit me! Humph, after Captain Watson brings you to justice, just watch me hit you back!” muttered Xylia to herself.

The sound of knocking on the door rang out.

Xylia immediately wiped away her tears and then cautiously opened the door.

Magnus stood at the door, holding a box of medicine in his hand.

“These are Trauma Pills. Take two of them, or don’t blame me for any internal injuries left behind…” said Magnus.)

Xylia carefully opened the door with a crack,

She didn’t see Magnus, but there was a medicine box on the ground.

Xylia picked up the medicine box and quickly closed the room door with a bang.

The next day, early in the morning, Magnus was still sleeping when his phone on the bedside table started to vibrate.

“Hello.” He didn’t even check who it was and answered the call with his eyes closed.

“Brat, you are still sleeping!” said Benedict.

“What’s gotten into you so early in the morning, old man?” Magnus sald Irritably.

“I just wanted to ask you whether you handled your task properly.” Benedict wondered.

Magnus yawned and replied, “It’s done!”

Benedict laughed and said excitedly, “Great, it seems like I have to come out of obscurity now.”

Upon hearing this, Magnus suddenly lost all trace of sleepiness.

“Old man, what do you want to do by coming out of obscurity? You once swore that you would never come out of obscurity unless it was the end of the world. You must not break your oath,” reminded Magnus.

“What a joke! If Benedict came to the city, would I still be able to enjoy my good days?” thought Magnus to himself.

Benedict chuckled and said, “Oaths are just things to deceive others. I don’t believe in them.”

Magnus interrupted, “Everything is fine, right? So why do you want to come out of obscurity? Is the air in the mountains not fresh or something?” asked Magnus.

“How could I not attend your wedding as your master?” replied Benedict.

Benedict suddenly shouted discontentedly, “What’s wrong? Are you disdaining me? Are you afraid I’ll embarrass you?”

Magnus was confused. “Who was getting married?” he asked himself.

‘It seemed that Benedict had no other pupils besides me.

But… When did I say I was going to get married?”

Magnus couldn’t make heads or tails of it. He was puzzled and asked, “Old man, did you drink too much? When did I say I’d get married?

“Brat, didn’t you just say that you had handled everything I asked you to do?” Benedict said, annoyed.

I have taken care of it. I called off the Thompson family’s marriage arrangement…” said Magnus.

“What did you say?” shouted Benedict..

Before Magnus could finish speaking, Benedict interrupted loudly, “I told you to marry that girl, and you actually went to call off the engagement?”

“Old

man, ‚listen….. It’s the new century now and that’s cliché? Nowadays, people prefer to choose their own romantic partners. A forced relationship will not bring happiness…” Magnus earnestly advised.

On the other end of the phone, Benedict was furious and sneered, “Fine, after all these years, you have really become too complacent… Just wait. I’ll come out of obscurity, and if I don’t teach you a lesson, then I’m not Benedict!”

“Please, old man, leave me alone!” begged Magnus.

Magnus said speechless, “I was wrong. Tell me, what do you want me to do?”

Although so many years had passed, the memory of Benedict whipping him with thorns was still vivid.

He was really scared!

“Fine, as long as you manage to win over the Thompson family’s daughter, I’ll forgive you!” Benedict relented.

Magnus knew he couldn’t avoid this matter any longer.

He sighed and said, “Can you give me some time? At least let me catch a movie, have a meal, and develop some feelings first.”

“Alright, I am a reasonable person. How about giving you six months?” Benedict said.

Upon hearing this, Magnus secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Although six months wasn’t a long time, it was enough for him to get mentally prepared.

Magnus chatted with Benedict for a while before hanging up the phone.

Magnus had a worried look on his face.

“I just told her that everything between us has been dealt with yesterday. What should I say now?” muttered Magnus.

‘Should I just say, “Just kidding. Don’t take it seriously?”

Or, “I was joking. Let’s get married anyway?”

What would Kristin think?

That I’m treating her as the least valuable object?

If I think I want her, then I will go for it and if I think I don’t want her, then I will refuse herl‘

“Ugh, damn that old man!” Magnus muttered under his breath.

‘Out of nowhere, he arranged a ridiculous marriage arrangement for mel

Is he that afraid of me being single?‘

It might be annoying, but life had to go on. Magnus certainly didn’t want Benedict to come out of obscurity and look for him!

When Magnus finished washing up and came out of the room, he saw Xylla sitting at the dining table having milk and bread.

Magnus walked over, feeling a bit awkward, and asked, “Did you take the Trauma Pills?”

“Humph!” Xylia pouted and didn’t even glance at him.

However, Magnus could tell from her complexion that she most likely had taken them.

This bread is not bad!” said Magnus as he chuckled and picked up a piece, stuffing it into his mouth.

After having her breakfast, Xylia went upstairs to change into her uniform and then came to the garage, ready to go to work.

Magnus followed behind.

“Why are you following me?” Xylia said irritably.

“Hey, I want to hitch a ride with you. I hope you don’t mind?” asked Magnus and, without waiting for Xylia’s agreement, sat in the passenger seat.

“You…” gritted Xylia before asking irritably, “Where to?”

“Take me to Hovalt Group,” Magnus said with a laugh.

Huh? Upon hearing this, Xylia’s beautiful eyes narrowed. “What are you going to do there?”

Magnus scratched his head and casually said something noncommittal, “I work there…”
