Chapter 3

At Hovalt Group, Magnus confidently strode into the building.

His towering figure, bronze skin, and distinct yet profound facial features made his appearance genuinely attractive.

Wherever he went, he attracted a lot of attention.

“Oh my goodness! That man is so handsome!” exclaimed a female employee quietly.

If it hadn’t been for her colleagues being around, she would have definitely approached and asked for his contact information. She would then spend an unforgettable night with him.

Magnus approached the front desk and said with a slight smile, “Beautiful lady, I’m looking for your CEO.”

The receptionist politely asked, “Do you have a reservation, sir?”

“No, but…” said Magnus. He then leaned in, lowered his voice, and added, “You can tell her that her fiancé is here.”

“Fiancé?” wondered the receptionist.

The receptionist frowned and said, “Sir, you’re not joking, are you?”

“Do you think I’m joking?” asked Magnus, somewhat taken aback.

“Sir, everyone in Yiefmery knows that our CEO is getting engaged to Mr. Zinn next month!” said the receptionist.

The receptionist was somewhat speechless.

She saw that Magnus was handsome and initially wanted to make an exception to help him out. However, she didn’t expect him to be so clueless!

“What did you say?” asked Magnus as his face turned cold.

He was disgusted by the outdated practice of arranged marriage, and his purpose for coming today was to call off the engagement.

However, upon hearing what the receptionist said, it seemed that Kristin was secretly engaged to another man behind his back!

The nature of this had completely changed.

“Who is Mr. Zinn?” asked Magnus.

“Our CEO has arrived, and the person next to her is Mr. Zinn…” replied the receptionist.

As the receptionist finished speaking, Magnus looked up.

In the next moment, Magnus was completely stunned.

He recognized that his so–called fiancée was the woman he had wild sex with the night before!

At the same time, Kristin, who walked in from outside the building, also saw Magnus.

The two of them looked at each other.

“How could he be here!” thought Kristin.

Kristin suddenly was at a bit of a loss.

Kristin, I bought a new ship. Shall we go out to sea and have fun tomorrow?” asked Shawn Zinn.

Shawn was still trying to please Kristin with an obsequious expression on his face. He was completely unaware of the change in Kristin’s expression.

Magnus wore a playful expression and stood right in front of the two people.

“Hey, man. Are you blind? Get out of my way!” said Shawn very boldly.

Smack!

A crisp slap echoed through the hall.

“You have ne right to speak here,” Magnus spoke coldly.

In an instant, everyone’s gaze was focused on the three of them.

“I can’t have seen it wrongly, right? That handsome guy actually hit Mr. Zinn!” whispered someone.

Has he gone mad?” questioned another person.

What a pity! The handsome guy is done for now…” lamented someone else.

Who was Shawn?

He was Yiefmery’s top notorious young scion!

Once, a waiter at a restaurant accidentally spilled soup on him, and he imprisoned the waiter.

Every day, he cut a piece of flesh from the waiter’s body and then bandaged his wound properly.

He cut up the waiter for twenty–six consecutive days.

The waiter didn’t die, but by the end of it, he had gone mad!

However, now, someone had actually slapped Shawn in the face.

If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, they really wouldn’t have dared to believe this was actually happening!

Shawn touched his burning face. At one point he started doubting whether he was dreaming or not.

He could not believe someone dared to hit him in Yiefmery!

“Sean, I want him to suffer!” roared Shawn hysterically. He was consumed by rage and was no longer able to maintain a gentlemanly demeanor in front of the person he liked.

Four or five bodyguards quickly rushed in from outside the building and aimed straight for Magnus.

Bang!

Several consecutive sounds of collision could be heard.

Before Shawn and Kristin could figure out what was going on, all four or five bodyguards were lying on the ground.

“Ouch!”

The bodyguards all wailed in pain.

Magnus raised his hand and slapped Shawn again.

This time, he increased his strength. He sent Shawn flying, and the latter landed on the ground.

“Ugh!” Shawn spat, and a front tooth came out of his mouth.

“If you dare to speak again, I’ll smash your mouth!” warned Magnus.

Upon hearing this, Shawn became frightened and quickly covered his mouth.

It seemed as if a voice inside was reminding him that the guy in front of him was not joking.

After he got up from the ground, he ran away without even thinking!

All of this seemed tengthy, but the entire process took less than five minutes.

“Come with me!” said Kristin.

Seeing more and more people crowding around to have a look, Kristin pulled Magnus into the elevator. They went all the way to the CEO’s office.

Kristin stared at Magnus and asked, “What are you here for?”

At that moment, in her eyes, there was nothing but shock and confusion.

She couldn’t understand how Magnus knew her identity, and she was even more puzzled about his purpose for seeking her out.

“Can it be that he came to ask me to take responsibility? Oh, please! As a woman, I hadn’t even asked him to take responsibility. Is he really that thick–skinned to come and ask this of me?” Kristin pondered.

Kristin subconsciously thought the other person just wanted to sponge off her!

However, Magnus‘ response almost made her jaw drop.

“I am your fiancé, so why can’t I come?” claimed Magnus.

“What did you say?” asked Kristin.

Kristin thought there was a problem with her hearing.

Magnus grinned and reiterated, “I said I am your fiancé.”

Kristin sighed and said helplessly, “Don’t say such baseless things. That piece of trash you just beat up is getting engaged to me next month.”

“Yeah, describing that guy as trash is indeed quite fitting,” Magnus agreed while laughing.

Kristin added, “I reminded you to pretend that last night’s incident never happened-”

“What if I say no?” interrupted Magnus directly.

Kristin became even more astonished and said, “What on earth do you want to do? I’m telling you; Shawn is not an ordinary person. I advise you to Leave Yiefmery Immediately.”

It was not an exaggeration to say that in Yiefmery, the Zinn family reigned supreme!

Even if Magnus was someone with great power, he could not defeat the local overlord and should just keep his head down.

“Let me ask you. Who is Charles Thompson to you?” asked Magnus suddenly.

That’s my grandfather. Why are you asking?” questioned Kristin.

“Tell him to come see me!ordered Magnus.

“My grandfather passed away three years ago!said Kristin, frowning.

“Passed away?” thought Magnus.

Magnus then asked, “Didn’t he ever tell you that he had promised you to me long ago?”

Kristin listened in bewilderment.

“Your grandfather made a marriage agreement with my master, promising you to me,” said Magnus.

Magnus briefly explained the whole story from beginning to end.

After finishing, he stared at Kristin and said in an unfriendly tone, “Now you should explain to me; what’s going on between you and that piece of trash?”

Kristin didn’t respond to him but quickly took out her phone and dialed a number. She asked, “Dad, I’ve something to ask you. Did Grandpa ever arrange a marriage for me?”

On the other end of the phone, Martin Thompson hesitated for a moment, and then anxiously asked, “What’s going on? Has someone come looking for you?”

“Yes! Someone named Magnus came looking for me, claiming to be my fiancé,” replied Kristin.

“Wait for me. I’m coming over to you now…” said Martin.

The phone call ended.

Kristin turned around and stared at Magnus with doubt and uncertainty.

“Are you really my fiancé?” asked Kristin.
