Chapter 5

As Ocean Group, a large financial conglomerate, made a move on its rival, Hovalt Group’s shares in the stock market, the business world of Clusia exploded with speculation.

Many people witnessed the power of an international financial group for the first time. With funds easily exceeding 1,500 million dollars in each transaction, Hovalt Group was powerless to fight back.

Nestor Zinn sat in his office, his face extremely gloomy.

Originally, he wanted to take over Hovalt Group, the succulent prey. Now that Ocean Group had made a move, he wouldn’t dare snatch the prey from the top predator.

“Find out for me why Ocean Group is targeting Hovalt Group,” said Nestor.

“Right away!” replied his assistant.

The assistant respectfully left the room.

Just then, the phone on the desk rang. It was Martin calling.

“Hello,” said Nestor.

“Nestor, you must help me!” Martin cried.

As soon as the call connected, Martin’s pleading voice came through.

Nestor said irritably, “Are you crazy? They’re an international financial group! I can’t do anything.”

After saying that, he hung up the phone immediately.

What a joke! Even if he put his entire Zinn Corporation on the line, he still wouldn’t be qualified to wrestle with Ocean Group!

Meanwhile, in Hovalt Group, Martin regretted his actions from earlier.

He really didn’t expect that such an unremarkable young man would be so powerful!

Magnus returned to Kristin’s office from the securities department. At that moment, he was leisurely sipping his coffee, while Kristin was on pins and needles beside him.

“Young man, stop it,” pleaded Martin.

Martin no longer had any of his previous momentum. All that was left in his tone was desperate begging.

Magnus playfully looked at him and said, “Too late.”

Upon hearing this, Martin’s heart sank.

At that moment, he thought of the words his father had once said. “Benedict’s pupil carried himself like a king. We are the inferior ones riding on his coattails if Kristin were to marry him…”

Thinking of this, Martin looked at Kristin and said, “Kristin, please, beg him! Or else our company will be gone!”

At that moment, he was like a drowning person grasping for anything to save himself, placing all his hopes on his daughter.

Kristin snapped back to reality, and a bitter smile appeared on her lips. She shook her head at her father.

In an instant, Martin seemed to have aged more than ten years. He could only leave weakly.

“Why didn’t you ask me to stop?” asked Magnus as he stared curiously at Kristin.

If this woman had spoken up, he might have let Hovalt Group off the hook.

“Actually, it is quite good that the company is gone. I don’t have to marry that scumbag, Shawn. I can live a normal life, too, said Kristin as she forced herself to smile.

After she finished speaking, she suddenly felt incredibly relaxed.

For some unknown reason, upon hearing these words, Magnus‘ heart ached for her Inexplicably at that moment.

Kristin then asked, “Why haven’t you left yet?

Magnus was at a loss for words.

Magnus raised an eyebrow and said with a dry laugh, “This company will soon be mine. Why should I leave?

Kristin stuck out her tongue.

It seemed like he had a point in what he said.

“Just now you said you came to call off the wedding. I agree with it. So, things between us are settled now, right?asked Kristin intently

Magnus nodded and said, “That’s right. We’re even now,”

“Phew…”

Kristin exhaled a breath of relief, stood up, and began to pack her things.

“What are you doing?” asked Magnus, frowning.

Kristin rolled her eyes at him and said, “Just taking my things and leaving. The company will be yours soon, so why would I still be here?

“What do you plan to do in the future? Will you start your own business or work for someone else?” asked Magnus curiously.

Kristin shook her head. “I haven’t decided yet. I might go on a world tour to relax and enjoy myself first.”

As they spoke, she had already packed her things.

She glanced at Magnus and said, “Goodbye. Oh no, scratch that. Let’s not meet again.”

After saying that, she took a step and was about to leave.

“Stop!” shouted Magnus authoritatively.

Kristin stopped as requested, turned around, and asked, “Is there anything else?”

“How about I hire you to be the CEO?” asked Magnus with a meaningful look.

Kristin’s eyes narrowed as she asked, “You want me to work for you?”

“That’s right. I can hire you with a high salary. How about a monthly salary of 15 million dollars?” offered Magnus earnestly after thinking for a

moment.

Kristin’s eyes widened.

She thought in disbelief, ‘A monthly salary of 15 million dollars!

Even if it was a Fortune 500 company, its CEO couldn’t possibly have had such a high salary!

That’s incorrect.

Hovalt Group’s net profit for a month is just over 15 million dollars!

This person is almost giving away the entire company to me!”

Kristin swallowed nervously and asked, “You’re not joking, are you?”

Magnus stood up and walked over. Gently lifting Kristin’s chin with his hand, he said with a faint smile, “Do your best. I believe in you.”

After saying that, he immediately stepped away and left,

Kristin was feeling a bit disorganized.

From last night until now, she felt as if she had been in a dream!

From the moment this man appeared, everything had changed, yet it seemed like nothing had changed.

“Who exactly is this person?” wondered Kristin.

Meanwhile, Magnus had just left the Hovalt Group building.

Immediately, more than twenty strong–looking men approached him, each holding a weapon in their hands.

At a glance, it was obvious they didn’t approach him with good intentions.

Magnus glanced around and spotted Shawn in the crowd.

Brat, tell me how you want to die,” said Shawn as he looked at Magnus furiously.

Magnus sneered, wanted to ask you the same question.”

No sooner had the words been spoken, than he took action.

With a wave of his hand, Shawn specifically instructed, “Catch him for me, and I want him alive.”

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Magnus charged into the crowd like a tiger hunting a group of sheep, moving extremely fast.

Every time Magnus threw a punch, someone would fall down.

In just a moment, more than ten people were lying on the ground in all directions.

There were still ten or so people surrounding Magnus, but no one dared to approach him carelessly.

Shawn looked a bit flustered, but he still insisted, “Hurry up and get him…”

Magnus‘ lips curled into a cold smirk. He moved so fast that only an after–image was left.

In the next moment, he had broken through the encirclement and went straight to Shawn.

“Hey! What’re you doing?” shouted Shawn as he stood there, so frightened that his legs felt slightly numb.

Snap!

That was the sound of bones breaking.

Following that, heart–wrenching wails echoed all around.

Magnus had stepped on Shawn’s left leg and broke it.

Just then, someone shouted, “Stop! Stop what you’re doing!”

Not far away, Zane quickly rushed over with a few of his team members.

Magnus had already noticed that someone was secretly watching him, so he wasn’t surprised.

He gripped Shawn’s neck with one hand and looked coldly at Zane as he asked, “What? Are you here to stop me?”

“Calm down, please. You should know that this isn’t a foreign country!” advised Zane kindly.

Magnus‘ face turned cold, and he snorted, “Are you threatening me?”

“No” Zane had not finished his sentence before another sickening sound resounded all around.

Magnus struck again, breaking Shawn’s right leg.

Shawn screamed in agony and then passed out from the pain.

A layer of cold sweat appeared on Zane’s forehead. He hadn’t expected that even after he had stepped in, Magnus would still dare to hurt someone.

Everyone knew that Shawn was Nestor’s only child.

If Nestor found out that his son had become disabled, he would go crazy!
