My Fiance Ran Away On Our Wedding Day -
Chapter 1
Chapter 1
It was another day of May in Misty Bridge City.
The clouds were low and the weather was stifling.
As soon as the typhoon passed, the air was filled with moist mist and a breeze blew into the roomthrough the window.
The clock ticked, slowly pointing to eight o'clock sharp in the morning.
A soft sound came from outside the door.
After receiving Anika's response, Sara walked into the hotel's main suite in her professional attire.
Sara Bradley works at Merbeil.
It was the industry's best-known wedding company and it specializes in high-end clients.
Of course, the services provided were utterly accommodating and meticulous, assuring that the feeswere worthy of a million dollars.
Two months ago, Merbeil was entrusted with a lavish wedding.
Because Sara performed excellently, she stood out from all the other employees of Merbeil and sheofficially took over the planning of this grand wedding.
Sara just arrived at the front door of the presidential suite.
The suite located on the top floor of the SIMO Hotel had a simple and elegant style but the details wereluxurious.
Even the casual cups on the coffee table were custom-made by the famous Queen W.
Sara entered the room and saw Anika, the bride, silently standing by the window.
"Miss Meyer, it's still early.Would you like to take a rest first?"
She asked thoughtfully with a proper smile.
Anika turned around after hearing Sara.
She laid her bright and innocent almond-shaped eyes on the wedding planner.
Anika was charming with her chestnut hair, red lips, palm-sized oval face, exquisite facial features,swan-like shoulder neckline, and fair skin.
Though the bride was only wearing a loose bathrobe, she was so stunning.
Even Sara, who was also a woman, was so stunned that she almost couldn't move her eyes away.
The beautiful woman fixed her gaze on the wall clock, then smiled faintly and asked softly, "Is it stillearly?"
Her voice was very low like she was just talking to herself although she was talking to Sara.
This made Sara somewhat confused.
After all, it was just past 8 o'clock and according to the wedding procedure, President Jenkins wouldnot come until two hours later.
As the person in charge of wedding planning, Sara naturally had some understanding of the bride andgroom.
The Jenkins Family was one of the few prominent celebrities in the country.
Kayden, the bridegroom, was the current leader of his family's company.
Kayden had always proved that he was worthy of the Jenkins surname.
He was born with a golden spoon and went to a famous school.
While he was studying abroad, start-ups successfully went public.
After he inherited the family business, his company promoted the largest medical merger in theindustry.
Despite his accomplishments, he was always the topic of a scandal.
There was quite a bit of gossip about him saying he had something going on with Lucy Cooper of theentertainment industry.
This made Sara naturally curious.
However, she did not doubt the President after personally witnessing his care for his fiancee, Anika.
Besides, Lucy was incomparable to Anika because the bride was more beautiful inside and outcompared to Lucy.
According to some sources, Anika got into A University with her scores in Liberal Arts in Misty BridgeCity and then went to Lawton Business School to study.
She was a respectable dedicated student.
She was a distinguished daughter of respected family background, not to mention her excellentresume.
Moreover, she was a very affectionate and down-to-earth person.
Because of this, Sara had become a loyal fan of Anika Meyer after two months.
On the other hand, Lucy had some negative news swirling around her.
Although unpleasant news about her was already deleted, Sara still heard from her scriptwriter friendsthat Lucy was used to putting on airs when filming.
‘As long as President Jenkins wasn't blind, how could he not like Anika, his fiancee who was asbeautiful as a heavenly immortal, and treat her like a gem?’ Sara thought.
Sara felt that perhaps the scandal was just a rumor, but the netizens were still hunting for clues.
Meanwhile, Anika did not know what Sara was thinking.
She just looked down at her phone and closed the window to sit on the sofa.
"Sara, I remember that you are from BY City.Have you calculated how long it will take for you to arriveat the Misty Bridge City from BY City?" Anika asked.
"It's less than two hours by plane. But today is quite different.I have a friend who wants to come to MistyBridge to play.I originally booked today's flight, but just now, it was said that many flights in BY Cityhave been canceled."
Misty Bridge City and By City were both coastal cities.
There were many typhoons this season, and flights were occasionally delayed by the weather.
Just as Sara finished speaking, two of her colleagues pushed the hanger with the wedding dresshanging on it and walked in.
Anika Meyer leaned on the sofa and nodded casually.
There was a separate closet in the presidential suite, and Anika Meyer went in to change her clothes.
Anika’s wedding dress was a personal design brand customization of her friend Nataly Morris.
Her dress was full of layers of pure white gauze pendants, pearls, and broken diamonds.
All were inlaid with hundreds of pieces, flickering with a faint light.
The shoulder-length design of the gown highlighted her sexy and exquisite collarbone as well as thegraceful and charming posture of the body.
It had to be said that this wedding dress matched Anika Meyer perfectly, and everyone called itbeautiful.
At this moment, Jessica, the executive assistant of the wedding party, walked over to help tidy up thehem of the skirt.
The Meyer Family had been inferior to the Jenkins Family for many years, but they were both famousfigures in the Misty Bridge City.
Most importantly, Anika was about to marry into the Jenkins Family and officially become Mrs.Jenkins.
Jessica wanted to flatter Anika, so she tidied up her wedding dress and said good things at the sametime.
"Miss Meyer, I've met many clients before. This is the first time I've met such a handsome groom likePresident Jenkins.President Jenkins said that you two have known each other since you were 16 yearsold. In the event that you need me to say it, the sentiments you have for one another are the most true."Jessica said.
Jessica was teasing and courteous but Anika was still distracted.
In the end, she curled her lips politely and did not respond.
Jessica was a little embarrassed.
Fortunately, Anika's phone rang at the right time.
The call allowed Jessica the opportunity to change the theme.
She smiled and teased, "President Jenkins is so considerate.
He still made a phone call now.
Seeing that Anika frowned slightly, Sara thought that she did not like Jessica's behavior.
She raised her voice and said, "Alright, don't disturb Miss Meyer.Let's go over the wedding procedureagain"
After all, Sara was in charge of the wedding.
Although Jessica had some backers, she did not dare to openly disobey Sara, so she only bit her lipsunwillingly.
The three of them quickly left the room.
After the room quieted down, Anika walked to the window and picked up her phone to answer Kayden.
The man's voice was gentle and quiet, "Anika, I'm sorry. The flight had been canceled and I can't makeit back in time.” Anika rubbed her eyebrows, as if she had anticipated this, and said calmly, "Yes, Iknow.’
Her voice was as gentle as ever, making her fiance at the other end of the phone feel relieved.
Then Kayden's voice suddenly became steady and unperturbed and his manner of talking was like hewas settling a business.
"It's still early. The wedding can be changed to tomorrow.I have already called Connor. He will inform theguests later.Don't worry.’ Kayden said.
‘Don't worry?’ Anika thought.
She couldn't help but laugh because of what she heard.
Yesterday, when Kayden said that the branch had some errands to accomplish and rushed to BY Cityovernight, he used a gentle and calm tone to reassure her that he would rush back and it would notaffect the wedding.
"Ah Kay, I know that Lucy went to the hospital last night. Are you in the hospital now?" She asked.
Kayden did not expect that she already knew the reason why he had come to BY City, so there was amoment of silence over there.
Anika's eyes darkened, and her eyes were stained with self-mockery.
She clearly said, "Perhaps, you're in Lucy's apartment?"
Kayden paused and whispered, "I'm sorry, Anika.I didn't tell you yesterday because I was afraid thatyou would misunderstand me."
"Afraid of my misunderstanding? But look, even though you knew I might misunderstand, you stillwent."
Her tone was indistinguishable from her emotions, adding a hint of mockery to her tone.
"Anika, I know you have some prejudice against Lucy, but she is your cousin. You and I can't ignore herinjuries." He said.
The man's obvious care for Lucy caused Anika’s knuckles to shrink slightly.
She breathed a sigh of relief and lowered her eyes quietly, "Yes, Lucy is my cousin.’
She was also Kayden's ex-girlfriend and they were teenagers back then.
Lucy and Kayden were close friends.
Lucy moved to the Meyer's residence with her mother when she was six years old.
She was truly the childhood sweetheart of Kayden.
Just now, Anika didn't say anything when Jessica wanted to laugh, because Kayden’s new feelingsdidn't belong to her.
"How is she now?" She asked.
The two of them had too many arguments because of Lucy, so Kayden didn't want to talk about itanymore.
He simply replied, "She's already been discharged from the hospital, so she's fine"
"Is that so?" She replied.
Although she had expected this, Anika heaved a sigh of relief.
Anika's grandfather had been in poor health for the past two years.
If Lucy had played a trick, her grandpa probably wouldn't be able to withstand the blow.
However, when she received the photos of Lucy just now, Anika already understood that Lucy probablywasn't really in trouble.
The man said slowly, "Anika, I didn't think carefully about coming to BY City before the wedding, but Ineed to make proper arrangements for tomorrow's wedding, okay?"
Because Lucy was injured, he temporarily canceled the appointment, so he had to postpone thewedding.
Anika realized something from the moment Kayden proposed to her.
The weight of this wedding in their hearts was different.
She looked out of the window with a calm expression.
The city was bustling with noise and high-rise buildings.
Perhaps the room was so cold that she stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window with one arm foldedaround her hand looking down at the surging traffic.
Despite all of this, she could not feel the slightest bit of reality.
It was like going back to when she was 16.
After a long time, she said again, "Ah Kay, I remember that when I first returned to the Meyer's residence .Lost the lucky charm bracelet that the dean gave me.I couldn't replace it for a long time and hid inthe attic crying alone.Later, you found me hiding in the attic and didn't tell anyone else. You secretlyhelped me replace the bracelet.”
Her voice was soft and ethereal.Kayden could not help but fall into recollection with her words and hisheart softened.
After that, he smiled and said, "At that time, I thought, how could you hide and cry because you just lostsomething? But seeing that you were crying too seriously, I can only help you replace it.’
Anika smiled.
She knew that Kayden had not found her lucky charm bracelet.
However, he was taught during his childhood to help someone when he saw them crying.
So he tried to replace the same-looking bracelet that can calm her down and stop her from crying.
"Why did you suddenly mention this?" Kayden asked.
"I just suddenly felt that losing that lucky charm bracelet wasn't that sad." Anika replied.
After saying that, most of the emotions in her heart dissipated.
Back then, the reason why she cried was more because she had received all kinds of gazes from thesurroundings when she first returned to the Meyer Family, suppressing too many emotions.
Later on, he went abroad to get admitted to A University and listened to many outsiders flatter him andpraise him.
At that time, the lucky charm bracelet Kayden bought for her had also disappeared.
However, she did not seem to feel anything.
Time will soothe everything in the end.
Nothing was unchangeable.
‘So what have I been obsessed with all these years?’ She thought.
It was as if she had considered a matter for too long and had finally made up her mind at this moment.
"Kay, the marriage ends here"
"Let's break up"
