My Fiance Ran Away On Our Wedding Day -
Chapter 75
Chapter 75
After editing her message on their group chat, Anika clicked ‘Send’ while Zac was watching her.
After she sent it to her friends’ group chat, he removed his gaze because he didn't want to read thereplies anymore.
He only silently gave her approval.
He then packed up the biscuit packs on the table while she was in a good mood and went to thebathroom to take a bath.
Anika was still jet-lagged, and it was already dawn in the country Not long after, her friends started toreply to her message telling her that they liked it.
In their Viber group, Alena was the first one to send a message.
Alena: [@Anika, didn't you tell me a few hours ago that you were in a dilemma? What's this all about?]
As she recalled her thoughts, Anika couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed.
She pursed her lips and typed with a smile.
Anika: (Probably, there's always something unexpected bound to happen in life.]
‘For example, Zac confessed unexpectedly’
Alena: [So?]
Anika: [Let's just say that I had caught up with him]
Although he was the one who confessed, the result was the same.
Speaking of which, the two of them were already married, and there seemed to be an additional layerof protection between them now that they confessed their feelings.
‘This feeling was quite...marvelous’ Meanwhile, Nataly texted.
Nataly: [What do you mean by this? Did you finally replace your prince charming unintentionally? At thewedding, I felt that something was wrong with Zac.He didn't have a plan, did he?]
Seeing these comments from her friends, Anika frowned and fell into deep thought.
‘I wasn't even prepared to marry another man, so of course, it couldn't be Zac's plan’
‘But then ..’
As she thought about it, the sound of running water in the bathroom stopped.
Zac had just come out of the bath when he saw Anika raise her head and look at him thoughtfully.
"What's the matter?"
He raised his hand and wiped his wet short hair with a thick towel, then turned his head to look at her.
Anika paused slightly and shook her head, "I'm fine."
It was just a sudden guess, and if she were to ask now, it would seem that she was suspecting him.
Relaxing her mind, she smiled at the man and said, "You can sleep on the bed tonight: He was tall andcramped on a sofa.
‘His legs couldn't stretch straight, so how could he sleep well?’ Zac's eyelids slightly sagged as heglanced over, "Are you trying to sleep with me?"
Although he was secretly fluttering for a second, he didn't think that Anika's words contained malice.
Anika pursed her lips and said, "I'll be the one to sleep on the sofa”
When she finished speaking, she could not help but explain to the man’s calm eyes, "It's just that...Ithink I won't be able to sleep soundly and might disturb you."
Anika's voice was shallow.
In the past, Alena would always leave her apartment to replace her on weekends.
Once Anika noticed someone by her side in her sleep, she would wake up in the middle of the night.
She had also seen a psychiatrist who said it could be a reaction to being abducted and sold as a child,so much so that she would subconsciously be on guard when she slept.
Especially in an unfamiliar environment like the hotel.
It was better in the orphanage.
Even if she woke up occasionally, she would still fall asleep quickly.
But when she started living with the Meyer's, even if she slept alone, she would often open her eyesuntil dawn.
Anika often felt that her personality was not perfect enough.
Even Nataly and Alena did not know about some of her flaws.
Thinking of this, she whispered, "I'm sorry”
She didn't want to reveal her flaws, but she didn't want him to misunderstand anything.
Zac stood up and walked over.
He sighed and rubbed her head, "Idiot, why are you apologizing to me?"
"The sofa is fine. It’s not like I haven't slept.I'm a grown man. It's the same wherever I sleep.Go to thebedroom and sleep early. You have to leave the island tomorrow.’
His words contained an attitude of a casual demeanor.
Anika breathed a sigh of relief and paused for a while.
She did not argue anymore and nodded as she walked towards the bedroom.
Just two steps away, she suddenly turned around and shouted, "Zac.’
"Huh?"
"Good night"
Zac smiled, "Good night.”
It was a simple good night but it made Anika's heart flutter.
After taking a shower, Anika laid on the bed and looked in the direction of the door.
Then, she covered herself with the blanket and closed her eyes.
She didn't know if it was because she had experienced intense emotional ups and downs in anunfamiliar environment.
That night, Anika had the dream that she used to have when she was young.
The narrow trunk was pitch black.
Her tiny body was squeezed into the sweltering heat of the surroundings, and her mind was dizzy.
After an unknown amount of time, she was picked up in a daze and was handed over to anotherperson.
The strange smell on her body made her struggle subconsciously.
However, her short arm didn't have any strength at all and could only be fastened in the arms of others.
The unfamiliar mountain path gave her a little more fear for no reason.
She stretched out her hand to grab something and pulled it to a nearby tree trunk.
Smelling the familiar smell of pinewood, Anika's tightly knitted eyebrows spread out and graduallyrelaxed, but she did not let go of the tightly clenched hand.
Zac silently lowered his eyes and saw the hand that she was holding tightly.
He smiled helplessly and wiped the thin sweat off her forehead with his other hand.
The next day, the sky gradually brightened and the sunlight scattered into the room.
On the soft bed, the woman still hugged the man's arm tightly, and the two of them snuggled togetherintimately.
Two seagulls flew over from the distant coast, circling a few spirals in the azure sky and landing on thebalcony railings facing the sea.
After a few shouts, they both flew off the balcony.
However, it woke Anika up.
She rubbed her eyes, opened a crack, and was dazzled by the strong sunlight outside the window.
Only when she regained her senses did she realize that something was wrong.
She turned her head and saw the familiar and handsome face of her husband appeared in front of her.
His eyelids were closed and his eyebrows were stretched.
His usual cold posture was gone.
Anika did not know why Zac appeared on the bed in the bedroom, but what concerned her more wasthat she was actually hugging the man’s arm tightly.
One of her hands was still pressed down by his hand.
She tried her best to calm down and carefully moved, trying to pull back the arm that was holding him.
"One, two, three."
Just as she was about to finish speaking, the man's thick eyelashes suddenly trembled, and then heslowly opened his dark and deep eyes.
He looked straight at Anika.
Zac glanced at her movements and smiled.
"What? You said that you couldn't sleep well, but you hugged me as soon as you fell asleep?"
Yesterday, he just wanted to see how she was sleeping, but Anika grabbed him.
He was afraid that he would wake Anika up if he resisted, so he just let her be.
This time, no one could blame him.
Anika was a little guilty while Zac gazed at her.
After all, she had indeed said this seriously.
The dream from last night had long dissipated.
She lowered her eyes and looked at the hand holding her arm.
Her beautiful eyebrows knitted slightly.
She was also very surprised that she had hugged his arm and slept until now.
"Probably, you are an exception."
Anika frowned and murmured, "I might have liked you too much, so even ina dream, I didn't want to letgo?"
Her expression became more serious.
"I, I like you so much’ Hearing this, Zac raised his eyebrows and repeated it over and over again.
The corner of his lips curved into a faint arc, and then he quietly asked, "Oh? Then what was going ona few days ago?"
He was asking about Anika's evasive attitude a few days ago.
Even though she had already spread her cards, he still had to understand why she was like this.
"How sure are you that you're the one who fell in love first?"
Anika muttered softly.
Then, she closed her eyes and explained hesitantly, "I was just afraid that you would be tempted tomarry me.I didn't want to cause you any trouble.”
She had seen a child with a bad temper adopted and soon sent back to the orphanage in the name of‘too much trouble’.
She had also seen the old man who often delivered fruit to the children in the orphanage in the orchardnext door. After being picked up by his son who went to the big city, he was sent back by his daughter-in-law in the name of ‘trouble’.
