My Formidable Husband -
Chapter 63
Chapter 63 Can You Afford My Dress
Fury surged in Christopher. He ran over, squatted down, and gently massaged Erisa's swollen cheeks. How could she hit a child?
Erisa's tears started rolling down when she saw Christopher. She choked up and said between sobs, "Christopher, I stood still, but she knocked into my lollipop and hit me."
"Hey, brat. How dare you bite back when you dirtied my dress in the first place?" a woman in sunglasses bellowed in anger and turned to Christopher. "Are you her father? Is this how you teach your child?" After comforting Erisa for a while, Christopher stood up and said icily, "How I teach my child is none of your business. We can always pay for your laundry since we accidentally stained your dress, but how could you resort to violence? Is that how your parents taught you?"
"Sh*t! How dare you! You think you can solve the problem by paying for the laundry service? I just bought this new dress a while ago!" the woman exclaimed in frustration.
"Fine. Even if you don't want us to pay for the laundry service, we could still compensate you. Why do you have to hit the girl?" Christopher asked while shooting daggers at the woman.
The woman was taken aback at first, but she was not a pushover. After regaining her composure, she retaliated, "So what if I hit her? You want to compensate me? Do you know how much my dress cost? Sixty thousand! You're probably a peasant, right? I don't think you can afford to pay me back even if you and that brat save up all the money for a year!"
The woman with heavy makeup became increasingly furious.
She could tell from Erisa's old clothes that she was poor. She also thought the same about Christopher because of how ragged his clothes were.
More and more people gathered around the mall and turned their attention to the drama. Erisa might be an elementary school pupil, but as someone who grew up frugally in a single-parent family, she knew how much sixty thousand was.
"Christopher, am I in trouble?" Erisa cried even louder.
"It's okay, Erisa. I'll take care of this," Christopher consoled her.
The feisty woman snorted with disdain. "You want to take care of this? How? I might forgive you if you kneel before me and beg me." Christopher held Erisa's hand and turned to the woman with sunglasses. "Where did you buy this dress? Let's get you a new one."
"You like to play the hero, huh? Fine. That's the store. You should be able to replace the same dress there. You really think you can afford it? I, Lulu Larson, will kneel before you if you can pay for the dress!" the woman scoffed.
Christopher said nothing in response. He grabbed Erisa's hand and started walking. Lulu panicked as she thought they were running away. She grabbed Christopher by the hand and yelled, "Hey! Tired of playing the hero, huh? Don't you dare run away!"
"Who told you I'm running away?" Christopher brushed her hand off and brought Erisa to the store.
The sales assistant was aware of the commotion, and she could tell Christopher and Erisa were not wealthy.
She was afraid that her manager would reprimand her if the two damaged the luxury goods in the store.
"Sir, we're a luxury boutique, so please don't enter our store. I can see you have dirt on your hands, and God knew how many germs there are. It would be a disaster if you dirtied my clothes. Why don't you jus apologize to this lady?" the sales assistant said indifferently.
"Did you hear that? I know you're broke, so I'll let this slide if you bow before me," Lulu sneered when she learned that the sales assistant refused to let them enter the store.
"Christopher..." Erisa started bursting into tears again. Christopher stroked the girl's head and took out her phone. He then scanned the QR code of the store and keyed in the numbers.
"Are you done acting? Let's see if you have the money to make the payment." Lulu snorted when she saw the old domestic phone in Christopher's hand. Where is this broke lad going to get that sixty thousand?
Even the sales assistant despised him. She said, "You're a man. Why can't you get down on your knees and apologize to her? Mind you, that dress costs sixty thousand!"
"Yeah! Come on, man up! You can do better than this!" The crowd did not believe that Christopher could come up with sixty thousand.
