Chapter 41

The next day marked the beginning of classes, and Sandra, Deborah, and Natasha had breakfast at the school restaurant. Natasha insisted on paying for their meal, feeling sorry for them and considering herself privileged to have joined the university on time, despite coming from a middle-class family.

While Natasha believed that their family situation had delayed their start at school, Sandra declined her offer, saying, "No, let us pay for this meal. Consider it our gift to you as a gesture of our meeting."

After settling the bill, they headed to their respective classes. Along the way, many students couldn't help but stare at them, particularly Sandra. Her beauty and the air of intimidation she carried seemed to create a distance between her and others.

Until they reached their classes, no one dared to avert their gaze from Sandra. Observing the attention, Deborah commented, "Thank God my brother isn't around. I don't know what he would do to these people." Sandra couldn't help but inquire, "Why would you say that?"

Deborah explained, "Because ever since we were young, you are the first person my brother has fiercely defended in front of the entire family. He even threatened them on your behalf."

"That shows his willingness to be with you, and I know that you'll be targeted by the entire family, especially the second branch, as they've always been against my brother," she added.

Natasha overheard the students' complaints but chose to ignore them, even though she couldn't help but wonder if Sandra's marriage was arranged. Deborah, on the other hand, fell silent as they entered the classroom. All eyes turned towards them, the unfamiliar faces, as the students exchanged curious glances.

Sandra led the way to the back of the class, followed by Deborah and Natasha. They took their seats without sparing a glance for anyone else in the room. They seemed to regard their classmates as mere background noise.

As they waited for the teacher to arrive, the students couldn't contain their frustration. "Can you believe the nerve of these people? They just waltz in here and treat us like we're invisible. Class F has always been about friendship," they complained.

Just as the voices grew louder, the classroom teacher entered. She greeted the students and questioned the reason behind the commotion. Reminding them that if they wished to be exchange students at the capital university, they needed to perform better academically than they currently were. "Instead of shouting, why don't you review your work from last semester?" she suggested.

The entire class fell silent, realizing the truth in their teacher's words. They, too, harbored dreams of studying at the capital university. The opportunity for exchange students from City A University had been presented, but it required them to achieve higher grades and meet the university's GPA requirements. Their dreams were within reach, but they needed to work harder to attain them.

After the teacher scolded the class, she turned her attention to Sandra, Deborah, and Natasha. She welcomed them to Class F and encouraged them to introduce themselves to their fellow classmates. Natasha, feeling nervous, mustered the courage to speak first. "I'm Natasha Davidson, and I was in Class A last semester. I transferred to this class, so please take care of me."

Deborah followed, saying, "Hello, I'm Deborah Anthony, and I'm new to this university. Thank you all, and please take care of me."

Sandra, in her usual cold manner, introduced herself simply as Sandra Smith and sat back down without saying another word.

Teacher Abby couldn't help but sigh inwardly, realizing that Sandra was not one to be taken lightly.

With the introductions complete, the class began. The classroom teacher went through the subjects they would be studying that semester and introduced the respective teachers. He emphasized the importance of hard work and looking out for one another as classmates.

As the bell rang, signaling the end of the class, the teacher bid them farewell.

The class monitor, Kevin, approached Sandra's desk and introduced himself. He offered his assistance, saying, "Hello, I'm Kevin, the class monitor. If you need anything or any help, please feel free to let us know. We consider everyone in the class as family."

Sandra simply replied, "You're welcome."

Observing her reluctance to engage further, Kevin excused himself and returned to his own desk.

His desk mate asked him, "What's she like?" Kevin responded, "She seems fine, but she's definitely not one to speak many words."
