91 The King Is Dead

Lord David POV

As soon as Jasmine scurries off, I make my way out of the mansion. I only have an hour before my pr*ck of a brother shows up with his happy little family. I still can't believe my father chose to pass his title to him. We were born mere minutes apart, but because our

mother pushed him out first, he gets to be King. It's ludicrous that the only qualification to becoming ruler of our kind is birth order. I should be king and if everything goes to plan I will

I step in front of the disgusting shabby cottage. My skin crawls every time I set foot in this disgusting place, but the seer refuses to leave. She believes that these walls not only hold her memories but strengthen her ability of sight. I knock once, pushing the door open. "Come inside, my Lord. I've been expecting you" she says. She stopped offering me to sit on her disgusting couch long ago.

"What can you tell me of the rogues' mission" I say, not wanting to spend any longer than I

have to in her presence. "I can no longer feel the child's power or essence. It seems the

mission was a success," she says. A victorious smile spreads across my face that soon I will have everything that should have been mine.

"Good, once my brother, his mate, and my nephew are dealt with, I will take my rightful place

as the Elven King." Her eyes turn white and I take a step back damn near tripping over a chair.

When her eyes return to normal she gasps. "What the hell was that?" "I've had a vision my Lord. If you include your nephew in your plans the council will discover your involvement in killing the King and Queen," she says.

It takes all my control not to rage and destroy this sh*thole. I stalk toward her ready to choke the life from the old b**ch. "You told me I would be King. All I had to do was get rid of that little wolf brat and my brother. What has changed?" "The fates are never wrong, Lord. If you include the boy in your plans, you will never become king," she says. A sinister smile spreads

across my face.

"Fine, I may not be able to kill him, but that doesn't mean he won't suffer every day for being born to take my crown. As for my brother and his bride, they should enjoy what little time the have left in this world." Without another word, I leave the run-down shack heading back

toward my home.

When I step inside, Jiselle is lounging in the sitting room in a dress that barely covers her. She jumps up when she seems me and I can't stop myself from rolling my eyes. The b**ch is 1/4

worse than a dog in heat. I do enjoy using her for my pleasure, but she forgets her place. She

goes to wrap her arms around my neck but I step back from her. "What do you think you are doing," I ask my voice laced with irritation.

"My King, I have missed you. I just wanted to show you how much," she says, taking another step toward me. I look up, noticing my beautiful wife on the stairs turning to leave. "Jasmine, join us. I need to say something to your sister, and you should hear it as well. She moves

quickly down the stairs and comes to stand at my side.

I pull her close to my side, wrapping my hand around her hip. She looks amazing, and I want

nothing more than to take her to our room and show her who she belongs to, but we won't

have time before a**hole arrives. Jasmine's eyes are cast down while Jiselle glares at her. "My Queen, you are above this b**ch in every way. I never want to see you drop your gaze in her presence again."

Jasmine immediately lifts her head staring at her sister. "Let me make something perfectly clear Jiselle, you are nothing to me. Jasmine is my Queen and the woman I love. Don't mistake me using your body for pleasure as anything more than it is. If I ever hear from my

staff again that you plan to hurt my beautiful wife, I will snap your neck without a second thought. Am I clear" I say.

Her eyes widen before tears start to roll down her cheeks. "David" she starts to say, but I quickly cut her off with a slap across her face. "Do not ever let my name pass your lips again. You will address me as Lord or King. Only my wife may same my name." The door opens and two of my guards step inside. "Take Jiselle to the cell for threatening to harm my wife. She is

to receive ten lashes. "My King, please don't do this" she pleads as they drag her away.

A few minutes later my brother, Carmen, and Drake are led into the foyer. I hate to see Jasmine bow even though I know it's proper protocol. "Jasmine, I have told you that isn't necessary. We are family now," Allister says. Jasmine nods and I pull her to my side. "Brother, I am so happy you three could join us for dinner. It's been some time since we were able to

catch up with the recent issues of the kingdom.""

As we sit across from each other at the table during dinner, all I can think about is the day I can stand over this pr*ck while he gasps for his last breath and whisper that I am King. "Brother, I'm glad to see you happy. I feared it would never happen for you, but the goddess has blessed you with an amazing bride," he says. If he only knew the truth he would have forbidden me from claiming her. Everything is falling into place.

Two Months Later

I'm in my office when a loud knock sounds on the door, startling me. My head guard pushes 2/4

the door open and the look on his face sends a shiver down my spine. "Where are they now?" "They are halfway between the Werewolf and Elven kingdom. The guards are all dead, but we don't have much time. All three were hurt, and the King is unconscious' he says. "I am the

f**king King," I say, standing to open the portal.

When I step out, bodies lay about the ground and Carmen is frantically trying to wake my brother and nephew. When she spots me, relief flashes in her eyes. "David, thank the goddess. We were attacked by rogue wolves. They drove the car off the road. I can't wake up Allister and Drake's leg is broken." I move closer, reaching my hands toward Allister but quickly grab Carmen before she realizes what's happening.

The snap of her neck is less satisfying than I thought it would be. I drop her body to the ground just as Allister's eyes fly open. His hand grabs at his chest as he suffers from the breaking of his mating bond. "Brother, Carmen" he manages to gasp out as tears fill his eyes

"Don't worry brother she didn't suffer. "I bend to whisper in his ear as I pull the dagger from its

sheath. "It's unfortunate that she was a casualty of all this. I rather liked your wife."

His eyes get big, but he has no time to react as I drag the blade across his neck. His eyes

don't leave mine as the life begins to drain from him. "I am the Elven King" I say. Now that was much more satisfying. I wave away the blade in my hand. When I pick up my head, I notice

Drake is staring at me with tears running down his cheeks.

"Mommy, daddy" he cries. I grab his cheeks and begin to chant the Elven veil spell. I watch as he tries to speak but no sound will come out. I heal his broken leg for now. Not because I care,

but he'll need two legs for what I have planned for him. I open my mind calling for the Elders. I

conjure up a few tears as the three Elders step through the portal. They rush toward us as I fall

to my knees. "My brother has been killed by wolves, "I manage to croak out.

I watch as Elder Samuel pulls Drake from the back of the SUV and holds him close. "I will take

him to the hospital" he says. "No, he is my nephew and he is my responsibility. He is all I have

left of my brother. I will take him." Guards are taking care of my brother and Carmen's body. "I'm so sorry for your loss, David, but I'm sure you realize that you will need to put the kingdom first despite your loss. At least until Drake is of age to become King," Elder Samuel says.

"Of course, I will need to grieve, but my brother would want me to care for our people in this devastating time." I reach for Drake, but he holds tight to Samuel. I try to keep the anger off my

face. "Drake, I know you are scared and sad, but you must go with your uncle. He will take

good care of you." This time when I reach for him, he comes willingly. He will pay for that little slight, but for now I have to be the dutiful uncle. He will never be king, and he will suffer by my hand every day for the rest of his pathetic life..
