Brandon placed his hand on Artemis’s shoulder before speaking, “I know Caro hid a lot of things with you from you, and that was your understanding with her. But being her father, I don’t want to stay in the dark, not when everything is getting official, and with this, two families are getting together as well.”

“Umm… I understand your concern, dad. But.. Mom is not hiding anything. She is just a mere human, an orphan to be exact, who lost her parents at a young age.” Artemis said. “There is nothing that Mom is hiding, and I have known her for my whole life; she is not someone who can be dangerous to anyone,” he assured.

“What is your maternal grandparents’ name?” Brandon asked, all of a sudden. Artemis opened his mouth to answer it but had no answer to this question. “What is the surname of your mom before her marriage to your father?”

Artemis again had no idea about it. For the first time, he felt like someone had shown him a mirror. He wanted to dig Caroline’s background back then, and hell, here, he didn’t know a thing about her mother except for her first name. Hell, he didn’t even know anything about her.

“Did she has a sibling? Your maternal uncle or aunt of yours?” Brandon asked a lot of questions, and with each question, he felt Brandon was kind of right. “I’m not telling you that your mother is an evil person. I can see the result of her upbringing in front of me. All I’m concerned about is WHO SHE IS. Because I can’t replace anything about her past.”

“I… I will ask these questions with her.” Artemis said in tension. “Our wedding is still happening, right?” he questioned next because unknowingly, Brandon found a little, tiny but important point to stop the marriage for a while.

“No,” Brandon replied. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t want the answer to this question.”

“Mom!! I talked with Sarah’s father.” Artemis said.

“Great. How was his response?” Sila asked, getting happy.

“He is also convinced except for the part that… he wants to know about you. I mean, he did a background check on our family and found nothing about your past, which made him slightly suspicious of you. He said that you’re hiding something.”

“But… but I don’t understand why he wants to know about me? Caroline has to stay with you, not with me.” Sila reasoned out.

“Maybe that’s the reason he doesn’t have any problem with the fact that who is my real mother because he knows everything about Megan Rossi. All he wants to know about you because he doesn’t want to stay in the dark. And he is not the only one who wants to know the answer to this question, even though I want to know the answer to this question. Who are you, Mom? What was your surname before your marriage?”

“Okay!! I will answer all your question when you’re here.” Sila responded instead of following Artemis because he wasn’t a kid. “No, in fact, I will be coming there with your father and will talk about it with everyone. In that way, we will also meet Caroline’s parents.” She added.

“Yes.”

“Who are they? And why did they leave her?”

“Neither do I know who they are and why did they leave her, but I saved her life, sacrificing mine because I would have died years back if her father wouldn’t have saved my life from groups of clan witches. In return, I was ready to give them anything but all he asked him to bless his child who was in his wife’s womb then.” Helena Morgan replied before adding, “I thought the baby was just a normal human child, but she wasn’t.
