My Mate Is An Omega
My Mate Is A Virgin Chapter 4

Jasper

POV

"I really hope you don't intend to leave me alone in the freezing snow again."

My mate's words hit me like a bucket of ice cold water. Why couldn't I ever get anything right? I shook my head before I started re-thinking everything. Despite how anxious I was, I had come here exactly to earn Andromeda's forgiveness, and I wouldn't quit until I had it. I might have a lot of flaws, but if anything, no one could match my determination; when my mind was set on something, I knew not to give up until I got it.

After talking to Caitlyn, I realized I had to face the consequences of my past choices before it was too late. There was a snowball of mistakes rolling down the hill behind me, and if I did nothing to stop it, it would crush me along with my future. So, I decided I would man up for once and bite the bullet. Once I left my room, I followed Andromeda's scent to a guest suite on the first floor of the pack house and invited her for another walk. Not the best option considering how our previous one had gone, but it still offered us more privacy than staying inside.

"I don't. I apologize for the way I behaved earlier, your Highness," I finally replied, staring at the ground. From the corner of my eye, I noticed how imponent Andromeda's posture was. She stood up straight and tall, shoulders pulled back, and head held high. How on Earth did someone like me end up with her?

"You don't need to be so formal around me." Her sweet voice sounded like the sweetest melody to my ears, but her sharp tone still made me shudder.

"I'm sorry. I've never been around a princess before." I smiled apologetically, trying to lighten the mood.

"Well, you better get used to it!" She finally turned to look at me, her blue diamond eyes piercing my soul. "Because I'll rip your head off before you reject me."

"Reject you? No!" I freaked out. Moments earlier, I was dead set on breaking your bond to spare her, but hearing her say it out loud made me realize I'd never have the strength to go through with my stupid decision. "I-I mean... if you wish to accept me, your H-" "Just call me Dree." She rolled her eyes impatiently.

"For f**k's sake you blockhead, get a hold of yourself!" Phoenix scolded me. "And just get to the point already!"

Okay, he was right, but this s**t was harder than it seemed. I straightened my posture and took a deep breath, mentally preparing myself. Andromeda was surprised when I suddenly stopped, but I didn't give her time to think. In a swift movement, I took her hand in mine and brought it up to my lips. Breathing in her exotic scent made me relax. Touching her made all of my troubles disappear. With my mind clear, I stared deeply into her eyes.

"Dree..." Goddess, why did it feel so good to say her name? "I know I made a terrible first impression, but can we start again?"

For a while, there was silence between us. She seemed confused at first, almost as if she couldn't tell whether I was being serious or not. In the end, she just furrowed her brows, pulling her hand away from mine to place it on her waist.

"That's it? That's all you have to say after the humiliation you put me through earlier?" She scoffed. Her reaction was all it took to make me start cursing at myself again. Stupid, stupid, stupid! But then, something unexpected happened. She relaxed her shoulders and looked at me with curiosity. "Alright, I'll join your game. Let's say I'm willing to forget what you've done and start anew. How would you rewrite our first meeting?"

My eyes widened in shock. I couldn't believe she was actually willing to forgive me, but I knew I couldn't miss the opportunity. I slowly snaked one arm around her waist, pulling her slightly closer to me. Her body was stiff, her eyes carefully studying me, but she didn't complain. Bringing my free hand up to her face, I moved a strand of her golden hair behind her ear. She seemed so calm around me, while my heart seemed like it was going to explode inside my chest. However, I remained strong.

"I would take your hand, offer to show you around the lands I grew up in, and treat you the way you should be treated... my princess," I whispered before delicately pressing my lips against her forehead. The sparks that erupted from our contact were unlike anything I had ever experienced before, and judging by the way she shivered underneath my touch, I knew she could feel it too. My grip around her tightened instinctively, as every fiber of my body urged me to have her closer. Impossibly closer. "I would start by getting to know you."

"Not as interesting as your first approach, but I'll take it." The corner of her lips turned up in a subtle smirk. "What would you like to know about me, runner boy?"

"Aw, mate already had a nickname for you! And it fits!" My wolf laughed at me. This time, I just ignored him; I was too focused on redeeming myself.

"Everything," I replied with sincerity. Her playful expression turned into a surprised one when she realized I was being serious.

"Alright. Let's start from the beginning."

As we crossed the main parts of the territory, I listened attentively to every detail Andromeda felt comfortable enough to share with me. My knowledge regarding werecats was limited to what I needed to know in order to establish political relationships with them. I knew they were led by Kings and Queens instead of Alphas and Lunas, and that their communities were mainly composed of females. It was fascinating to learn even the basics about my mate's species, but I have a feeling it was because every sort of glimpse I had of her life made my heart skip a beat.

I refrained from touching her during our walk, satisfied about simply listening to her. The more she told me about herself, the more I started questioning how we ended up as mates. I was a stray who happened to be thrown into a position of power; a position that shouldn't even have been mine. And she was... perfect, really. She was confident, fierce, and apparently very forgiving, considering she didn't hold what I did earlier against me. She told me about how excited she was to become Queen after training for an entire life. It was impossible not to question if I was truly good enough for her, but if I weren't going to reject her, I guess I would just have to try my best to be the man she deserved. However, there was still one more detail I had to reveal before she officially accepted me. As we headed back to the pack house, I started gathering the courage to tell her about my past. But she was faster.

"Now that I played your game, I think I deserve an explanation. Are you ever going to tell me why you ran away from me earlier?" There it was - the million dollar question. "Please don't tell me you were afraid of me."

"Should I be afraid of you?" I joked, failing at trying to mask my nervousness. "To be honest, I was afraid of... of what you would think." "About?"

That was it. The moment of truth.

No going back now, Jasper. Just face it.

"When you told me you had never had s*x before, I..." I closed my eyes, sighing briefly before deciding to rip it off like a band aid. "I'm not a virgin anymore, Andromeda. I haven't been for a long time." "Okay?" She arched an eyebrow at me.

I couldn't help but look into her eyes. It felt as if I was confessing my sins before the Goddess. "I've been with a lot of women... And I don't mean like a handful. In fact, I wouldn't be able to tell you how many females I slept with because I don't even know. It's more than I could count anyway." The silence between us was torture, but at the same time, it was better than hearing what she probably would have to say. The shame I felt was eating me alive, but I had to go on - just to lengthen the time where we live in a world where she hasn't rejected me yet. "It's something I thought I was proud of, but I recently learned that I'm not. I hate what I did, and I hate that I kept doing it. And when you told me you were a virgin, I-"

"That's it?" When she interrupted me, I froze. There didn't seem to be any hint of anger or displeasure in her semblance. Actually, she seemed kind of...relieved? "Hell, I thought you were scared about being mated to a princess! You wolves are so f*****g weird!" She laughed amusedly as she continued her walk. When she turned back to me and noticed I was still frozen in my spot, utterly confused, she said the last words I expected to hear. "I don't care, Jasper. You could have f****d your entire pack for all I care." Now she made my jaw drop in disbelief. "Cat shifters are highly s****l, especially because males often have multiple mates."

"But you...?"

"No one ever seemed interesting enough." She shrugged. I had the feeling she wasn't telling me the whole truth, but I was too shocked to question her. "You're my mate; regardless of how you used to live before you met me, the Moon says you are made for me, and I believe it." A silly smile lit up my face. I had to agree with her; even if I couldn't completely understand it yet, she had to be made for me. "Besides, I've been waiting for eighteen years. I don't think I can wait any longer."

Once again, I froze. The smile immediately left my face as I felt my heart sink.

Did she expect me to mate with her anytime soon? And why did the idea of having s*x suddenly scare me so much?

Whether I was being irrational or too self-conscious, it just didn't seem right. If I simply do the deed with her now, without barely even knowing her, how would she be different from any of the women I had previously laid with? No, I couldn't afford this. The very reason why I decided to start sleeping around was because I refused to let the first girl I had become someone special. I wanted her to mean nothing, just like everyone that came after her.

But not Andromeda. I would make sure she was my first in a way; my first real love.

"Dree, I-"

"Nice! You're finally back!" Lance's slightly anxious voice suddenly caught my attention. When I lifted my head up, I found him standing at the entrance of the pack house with Caitlyn in his arms, and Queen Nymeia right beside them. "Dinner is ready. Come on before the food gets cold!"

The princess took my hand, showing me a nervous smile as she led me inside. I could feel her mother's eyes on us, and it didn't take long for her to address us.

"I see you too have...reconciled. Good." The older woman held her head higher. "Gamma Jasper, we must announce you as our King as soon as possible, and Andromeda can't take the throne until you mate and mark her. I expect you to do so by tomorrow." Tomorrow?!

Andromeda POV

Eighteen years.

For eighteen years I had turned down other males because none of them could sweep me off my feet, and when I finally replace someone who does, he acts like a scaredy cat!

After my mother's very direct message, all my mate did was bow his head at her before we headed to the dining room without giving her a definitive answer. In fact, he didn't utter a word throughout our entire meal. I could sense how nervous he was during our walk, but I thought he would relax a little once we had discussed the issue that seemed to have been bothering him. Instead, he acted even more awkward during dinner, and as soon as we were done eating, he dragged me to his room to tell me he couldn't mate with me yet.

My mate - the man who seemed to have had no problem f*****g every creature that had a v****a - simply refused to touch me!

"Why?!" I didn't bother masking my anger anymore. This wolf was testing my patience, and I was slowly losing every last drop of it. "I'm certainly hotter than any female you could possibly have had before." I stated point-blank, gesturing at my body. He seemed shocked at my directness, but how else was I supposed to get anything through that thick skull of his?

"There's no doubt about that. But that's also the reason why I can't do this." He tried to approach me, but immediately stopped when I stepped away. I was done playing nice, and I almost felt proud when he sighed in defeat. "Dree, I want to prove to you that you're not like every other girl I slept with. You're special."

"I'll spare you the trouble and take your word for it," I suggested annoyedly, but judging by the pain that flashed in his pale blue eyes, I realized he wasn't buying it. His sadness almost made me feel sorry for him. Almost.

He lowered his head, staring at the floor. "I can't. I'm sorry."

Goddess! How could I feel so much lust towards this man, and yet hate him deeply?

Although I intended to not mention that I needed to be mated and marked to become Queen in order not to scare him, he now knew about it. He knew how badly I wanted to take the position, to finally be able to lead my clan. I didn't even expect to meet my King so soon, but now that I did, why couldn't everything just be easy? He said he would treat me the way I deserved to be treated, yet he refused to follow a simple request!

"I replace it rather exciting, if you ask me," Guinevere chimed in, her short tail slowly wagging from side to side.

"How?" I frowned at her. "To me, it's just frustrating."

"Think about it, Dree. Winning him is a game; a challenge. Doesn't it make things a lot more interesting?"

After thinking for a bit, I realized she was right. "You have a point. Everything has come to us so easily..." A mischievous smile lit up my face. "But we'll win him in the end. In fact, we'll make him beg for us."

"Now that's more like it!" She grinned, clearly pleased.

"Dree?" My mate's voice pulled me back from my thoughts. His voice wasn't sweet and melodic like most cats'; it was deep, a little hoarse even. I loved hearing him. "Are you mad at me?" He was unbelievable. Yet, something about him drove me crazy.

"Of course I am!" I rolled my eyes at him, but the way his face fell made me feel a pinch of pain. Stay strong, Andromeda, I reminded myself. You have to put him in his place. "But I'm not the type to beg. You don't wanna mate? That's fine. Don't say I didn't warn you though..." As I headed towards the bathroom, I stopped right beside him, whispering into his ear. "Jasper Stray."

A low growl reverberated in his throat the second his name left my lips, and a satisfied smile appeared on my face. His body tensed up, and he clenched his fists as he tried to fight the beast inside of him. I knew he wouldn't be able to keep it in for long though - after all, I never lose.
