My Mate Is An Omega -
My Mate Is A Virgin Chapter 11
Andromeda POV
The next morning, my mate left early to go to training. I had to go meet Wade at the pack's library to get the reports of our clan, but I wasn't really paying attention to the words coming out of his mouth. Although I was physically there, my mind was elsewhere entirely. My thoughts were all over the place. The previous day had been a wild ride, full of ups and downs that truly messed me up. Firstly, my attempt to push my shy prince a bit further in hopes of encouraging him to hurry up backfired completely. Excluding the stress of the whole situation I ended up causing, it was kind of cute to see him so concerned about his singing skills, and it was nice to explain a little bit more about my world to him.
I knew he saw my guard as competition from the moment the two of them met, but it was the first time he acted straight up jealous. I won't lie, I did like the feeling; it caused him to give me the most attention he'd ever given. What I wasn't expecting, though, was to get a taste of my own medicine mere seconds after our first argument was over.
Honestly, I was still trying to figure out what had happened. I had never been in an actual serious relationship before; all I did was share a few kisses with random guys from other clans. Who knew I'd be the jealous type?
Multiple mates were a common occurrence among werecats. Even my mother had shared my father with other females of our clan. It was a reality I was familiar with, and I used to think I was cool with it. If I were mated to another lynx, I would most likely be only one of his fated - or chosen - partners. I was okay with the fact that Jasper had had countless women before replaceing me, and I meant it when I said his past didn't bother me. So why did the thought of him being with another now affect me so much? The inability to understand my own reactions was driving me mad, but there was something else imprinted on my mind - the feeling of having Jasper's hands traveling up and down my body, brushing and squeezing my most sensitive areas. No one had ever touched me like that before, and it was... It was more amazing than I had dreamt of. I was usually in control of everything, but in that moment, I let my guard down. In fact, I barely knew how to react. I just stood there, melting underneath his touch. However, it didn't take me long to regain focus. I remembered what I wanted, and I might have succeeded if we hadn't been interrupted. If only-
"Dree? Dree! Are you still listening?" Wade's voice pulled me back from my thoughts. He was the one who linked me last night, both to check up on me and to let me know what time we should meet to go over the reports. I was still a little annoyed at him for his inconvenient timing.
I had to blink a few times to get my head back in place. "Yeah, sorry. I just zoned out for a moment."
"That's not like you. You're always so focused." He raised an eyebrow at me, folding his arms across his chest. "Is your scaredy-pup troubling you?"
"Very much so," I confessed with a heavy sigh, forcing a smile soon after. "But you know me - I always get what I want."
"That's true." He stepped closer, carelessly bending over the table I was seating at to stay at eye-level. "But why put in the effort when there are others who would give you what you want without a second thought?" He lowered his voice, never breaking eye contact as his hands sneakily reached for mine. "Why work so hard when you could just have me? All you have to do is say the word. I'll mark you here and now."
I kept staring at him for a while longer, but as soon as I realized he was being serious, I couldn't hold back my laughter. He frowned, the change in his expression turning slightly offended, but it wasn't my fault. As I stood up from my seat, pulling away from him, I thought he would let it go, but the look on his face told me he was still expecting an answer.
"Come on, Wade. You know there's no way we could ever be more than friends," I reminded him for the thousandth time.
"We could, though. You were supposed to take me as your chosen mate...before the stray came along."
"Don't call him that." I hissed, not appreciating his tone. "Jasper is your future King."
"You really think he has what it takes to lead our clan? Be rational, Dree." The guard inched closer again, but I remained still, standing my ground. He was starting to get on my nerves. "All you have to do is reject him, and-"
"I will not reject him. He is my mate," I stated assertively, holding my head up higher. I'm pretty sure there were flames dancing in my eyes as my powerful aura expanded, causing Wade to unwillingly back off and bow before me. I took a step in his direction; he was a strong warrior with a huge frame, but he seemed so small as he knelt on the floor. He managed to lift his head to look at me though, and I took it as an opportunity to deliver one last message. "I'm serious, Wade. Leave him be," I warned him before turning around to leave.
"It's alright. You know us cats love a game of chase." I wasn't expecting to hear his voice again. When I glanced back at him, I noticed he was still on the floor, but smirking. "I don't mind proving to you that I can be a better King."
I rolled my eyes at him. At this point, he was just being ridiculous. "You can try," I replied sarcastically, continuing on my way. "We're done here. I'll link you if I need anything. Otherwise, you are free for the day." I didn't need to look at him to know my last sentence didn't please him, but I couldn't stand being near him right now. He was pushing all of my buttons.
I left our "meeting" way more stressed than I should have, and knowing little about what had happened at my clan the day before. It would have to wait until tomorrow morning - or whenever I was ready to see Wade's face again.
As soon as I got to the Gamma suite, I realized the door was unlocked, which meant Jasper was probably back from training. My suspicions were confirmed as soon as I walked in and noticed my mate coming out of the bathroom, his wild fiery hair still damp from the shower. He was dressed only in a pair of shorts, wet towel in his hands. Once again, I must have done a terrible job at hiding my emotions, because as soon as my eyes landed on him, his smile faded.
"Is something wrong?" The Gamma lazily placed the towel over the bed, wasting no time to rush to my encounter. I breathed in, tensing up when his fingers touched my face as he studied my expression.
I put my hand over his, embracing the sparks as I gently pulled it away. "Not really. I'm worried about everything happening back home, that's all." If there was one good thing about the fact that he hadn't marked me yet, it was that he probably wouldn't be able to tell that I was lying.
"Maybe we can visit?" he suggested sweetly.
"I doubt my mother will allow me to set foot in my territory until we mate." I rolled my eyes at him, but noticing how he immediately looked away in shame, I sighed. Everything would be so much easier if he just let go of whatever insecurities were holding him back, but it didn't feel right to take my anger out on him. At least not now. "I think I just need a good run to clear my mind. I haven't let Genevra out since I arrived here."
A shy smile lit up his face. "Well, I have a couple of hours left before I meet up with Charles to continue with his training. Phoenix and I would love to join you." "Let's make the most out of these two hours then." I winked at him, and I could already see his cheeks turning red.
After throwing on a sweater, he planted a brief kiss on my forehead and interlaced our fingers to lead me outside. As we walked through the busy halls, it was funny to see a few she-wolves glanced at us with curiosity, as well as a hint of jealousy. Although I hadn't claimed my mate yet, it was clear that these bitches knew they would never be able to compete with a royal cat. Still, for the few ones who dared stare into my eyes, one frown was all it took to make them cower.
"By the way..." Jasper's voice caught my attention as soon as we stepped outside. "Where is Ti- I mean, Wade?"
I instinctively frowned as I remembered the stressful argument I had with my guard earlier. "I told him not to bother us today."
"Some privacy at last." He didn't even bother hiding his relief.
"You know, he would go away if you just-"
"Hey, look! It's snowing!"
I couldn't believe his poor attempt at changing the subject, and I was adamant not to fall for it. However, as soon as my eyes landed on the town square, which was slowly being covered in white, I couldn't help but focus on the beautiful view. Lynxes thrived in snowy weather; our white fur easily blended in with the landscape, allowing us to attack and hunt more efficiently. Interestingly enough, Diamond Tempest used a similar technique by having an entirely white pack house, which helped keep them hidden from human eyes throughout most of the year.
Distracted by the snowy lands, I barely noticed Jasper let go of my hand. Seconds later, I was taken by surprise when something warm and sticky brushed against my face. Needless to say, I was stunned as I turned around to replace the head of an eight feet tall beast inches away from my face, his massive tongue sticking out as he covered me in his slobber.
"Ew! Bad dog! Very very bad dog!" I grumbled at him. No matter how hard I tried to clean his saliva off my face, I only spread it over my hands.
A whimper caught my attention, and when I turned to where the creature had been standing a second later, I noticed he was now lying on the floor with his head between his paws. Taking a moment to analyze him, I realized he was different from any other wolf I had ever seen. His unique coat was mainly of an auburn color, speckled with shades of bright orange and deep red, reminding me of fire. There were also hints of black scattered across his face, back, and tail, while his jaw and paws were of a lighter cream color. He was...outstandingly handsome. When I saw the sadness in his pale white eyes, I felt slightly guilty.
"Okay... You must be Phoenix, right? Maybe you're not that bad." I smiled at him, hesitantly crouching beside him. As soon as I touched his spiked fur, his tail started wagging. Wolves were such goofy creatures.
"They're not as smart as us, that's for sure," Genevra stated playfully. "But with a little bit of incentive, they can become obedient partners."
"I guess I'm not a dog whisperer then," I joked. "You think you will have more luck with Phoenix than I've had with Jasper so far?"
"I wouldn't mind trying."
I smirked. "Be my guest."
It took my lynx only a few seconds to come forth after I allowed her control. I had only shifted a handful of times before coming here, but I had already gotten used to the shifting process. Although it was still weird to become a mere spectator inside of my own mind. As soon as Genevra was out, she rolled over the ground, covering her white coat in snow to make the darker spots on our legs and back become even less noticeable.
Once she was done, she laid down in front of her canine mate, rotating her pointy triangular ears with curiosity as she locked eyes on our prey to wait and plan our attack. Poor Phoenix was shaking and whimpering, barely able to contain his excitement at meeting his lynx soulmate for the first time. My counterpart jumped to her feet abruptly, staying still as the wolf mimicked her actions. Then, without any sort of warning, she pawed his muzzle and bolted towards the forest, inviting him to chase after her.
The ginger wolf barked a few times as he tried and failed to catch up with us. At last, Genevra took pity on the mutt and stopped running, allowing him to come near - now that they were standing still, I realized they were pretty much the same size. He couldn't stop wagging his tail as he sniffed us, clearly trying to memorize our scent. He hesitated, waiting for our consent before rubbing his head and shoulders against our body, enveloping us in his scent. Curious... Phoenix seemed eager to claim us, even if his counterpart was reluctant about it.
When my lynx decided she had had enough, she grabbed her mate by the scruff of his neck and knocked him down, causing a surprised gasp to leave his lips. All wolves were so proud of their wild behavior, but the truth is cats could be a lot tougher. Next, it was Genevra's turn to rub herself against him, purring during the whole process. I was well aware of what she was hoping to achieve - she wanted to turn on her mate. Considering how excited Phoenix was, I thought she would easily get what she wanted, but to my surprise, the wolf didn't break. It was almost like he was holding back.
As long as Jasper and I didn't complete our bond, we wouldn't be able to communicate in animal form. However, I don't think my lynx needed words to know exactly what was going on in our mate's mind.
"This is not his hesitation - it's Jasper's," Genevra concluded, never taking her eyes off her mate.
"That's impossible. How can Jasper have more control than Phoenix when they're in animal form?" I raised an eyebrow at her.
"I have no idea. Either way, I don't think I'll achieve anything here. You're gonna have to convince Jasper first."
"As if it was that easy," I scoffed.
My lynx didn't seem half as frustrated though. "I think it's time for you to resort to more...aggressive methods."
A smirk lit up my face. "You mean..."
"I think it's time for our secret weapon." She mimicked my expression.
