Chapter 1701 Come Often

The old monk chuckled briefly in a way that was hard to understand.

"Forget it. These past few days, the pile of fruits in the monastery looks like a small mountain. We can afford to buy a few dishes." The old monk waved his hand dismissively. "Get the young monk to bring out those boxes of scriptures and let them air out."

"Yes." Brad was very obedient to his elder's instructions.

He folded his hands in prayer in acknowledgment.

The gaze of the old monk followed in the direction Sally had left.

In the center of the monastery, the grand tree was dense with summer foliage, appearing as if it could cover the entire sky.

After retracting his gaze, the old monk seemed even more silent.

He slowly turned and walked shakily toward the stairs.

Sally was unaware of Brad's disdain toward her.

She cheerfully found Elijah, who was once again caught in conversation with someone else.

Upon seeing Sally, Elijah gave a nod to the other person and approached her.

"What were you doing with the young monk? You seem so happy," Elijah said, straightening a twig from her hair.

Sally, with her sweet smile, replied, "It's not the young monk that made me happy. It's seeing you, Elijah!"

Elijah's eyes twinkled with amusement.

"Did a little greedy kitty sneak some ice-cream?"

Sally was taken aback.

She touched her lips, which weren't cold anymore.

"How did you know?" Instead of denying, Sally, with a pang of guilt resembling that of a school child caught in mischief, inquired.

Elijah pointed to her nose. "There's some color on your nose."

Cheap ice-cream always left a mark due to food coloring.

Sally touched her nose. "Darn that young monk, not even warning me! I'll tell his mentor later!"

Elijah amused, replied, "Spare the young monk, just this once."

"Fine!" As Sally spoke, she instinctively wanted to link arms with Elijah. However, remembering the sacred environment, she held back. Elijah noticed her hesitation.

He took the initiative to hold her hand. "Mrs. Crawford and her group are heading to Northern Canakey tomorrow. Shall we also leave?"

"It's okay. We don't have to leave at the same time. We can stay a few more days," Sally hurriedly replied.

Staying another day meant another chance to bump into Elijah's mentor!

"My mentor rarely comes out these days. A chance encounter is unlikely," Elijah said, gently bursting Sally's bubble. "Don't worry. We agreed to visit frequently, didn't we?" "Alright," Sally sighed.

"Since we're leaving, let me do something special."

Sally's idea of 'something special' was to bring in a truckload of watermelons through her connections.

Brad was left dumbfounded.

"Brad, the weather is going to get hot soon, and watermelons are refreshing," Sally earnestly explained to Brad, "Elijah and I are leaving tomorrow. We've caused you guys some trouble these past few days. Consider this our apology!"

"You're leaving tomorrow?" Brad paused.

"Yes, a close friend of ours is expecting a baby soon. We promised to be there with her," Sally replied. She then handed over a piece of paper with her and Elijah's contact information. "Brad, if ever our mentor misses Elijah, just give us a call. No matter where we are, we'll be by our mentor's side in no time!"
