Chapter 1728 Cheesy Pick-up Lines Are Not Allowed

After the Quinn family's mother and daughter left...

Evie immediately switched to gossip mode. "It's obvious that this Beatrice has a lot of animosity towards me, most likely because of Aron! No wonder after lunch, my mother transferred another sum of money!"

"Don't worry, Aron's heart is only open for you. Other men and women can't catch his eye!" Athena reassured Evie.

Evie looked at Athena in shock. "Athena, how come you're suddenly using cheesy pick-up lines? I've got goosebumps all over!"

Athena burst into laughter. "Is it that cheesy?"

"Absolutely!" Evie said firmly.

"Byron actually likes hearing cheesy love phrases. Saying them occasionally can make him happy for quite a while," Athena whispered to Evie.

Evie's pupils trembled.

"No, it's not allowed, it'll get boring!"

The two of them whispered to each other while Byron stood by and watched.

Even though he vaguely sensed that he was a topic of their conversation, seeing Athena smiling so happily made him feel pleased too.

"What are you talking about so happily?" As soon as Aron arrived, he saw Athena and Evie huddled together, sometimes covering each other's ears, clearly enjoying themselves.

"Aron is here." Athena created some distance between herself and Evie. "On the way here, did you run into anyone?"

Aron glanced at Athena. "Are you referring to Emily's guests?"

"Are they just Emily's guests? I think that girl named Beatrice has a liking for you," Athena said without mincing words, "Look at Evie. You can practically see the resentment oozing from her eyes." Hearing this, Evie tugged at Athena's finger, indicating that she shouldn't say anything more.

After all, she was Emily's relative, and she didn't want to put Aron in a difficult position.

Anyway, she believed in Aron. He wouldn't have anything to do with that Beatrice.

"Did she bully Evie?" Aron furrowed his brows slightly.

"No, but I gave her a good scolding!" Evie said with a hint of pride, "She looked like she was about to cry from anger!"

Aron's expression remained somewhat displeased as he took out some grapes and handed them to Evie. "Don't worry, I'll have Mark drive them away tomorrow."

"Don't..." Evie hurriedly stopped him. "Let's wait for Emily to come back before dealing with the guests from Emily's family."

"Emily already knew. She'll be taking a flight back overnight." Aron signaled for Evie to have some grapes.

Evie poked one and stuffed it into her mouth.

"You know, with the way they treated Emily, how could they still have the nerve to come knocking at the door?" Evie murmured. About Emily's situation, she only knew a rough outline.

But even with just a rough understanding, she felt that the Quinn family was really despicable.

"Don't think about them." Aron lowered his eyelids, concealing his disgust.

Honestly, Aron had no interest in getting involved in whatever grudges or conflicts there might be between Emily and them. Naturally, Emily and Mark would handle it properly.

But if these clueless people caused trouble for Evie, then the situation would be different.

Just thinking about it, there was another loud splash as something fell into the water.

Just a moment ago, Aron saw that the kids were playing by the riverbank.

He quickly raised his head to look over, alert and cautious.

"Don't worry, it's Herbert!" Evie gently reassured, "It has taken a liking to that little bridge and this river, it's..."

Evie looked at Athena.

"It finally took a break for a few minutes, and this is its twelfth time jumping into the river." Athena paused. "We might need to replace a cart later to haul the dog back!"
