Chapter 1799 Not So Good

After hanging up the phone, Athena felt an inexplicable flutter in her heart.

Then she then walked towards Mia's room.

At this time, Ottilie and Paul had gone back to their rooms for a nap.

Athena entered Mia's room and saw Aiden still by his sister's side.

"Mommy."

Aiden looked at Athena and softly called out.

Athena walked over, hugged Aiden, and gave him a kiss before looking at her deeply sleeping daughter.

"Are you scared?" Athena asked Aiden.

Aiden nodded with teary eyes.

"Daddy didn't mean it, Aiden. Don't blame him, okay?" Athena said gently.

Aiden fell silent for a moment and didn't answer. Instead, he asked, "Is he okay?"

"Not so good." Athena shook her head. "He is really worried that we might not want him anymore."

"How could that be?" Aiden blurted out.

Although he was angry at his father for causing Mia to get hurt, he never thought about not wanting him for that reason.

"I told him the same thing," Athena sighed lightly and touched Aiden's round little head. "We may not be able to stay with Evie for much longer. We have to take Daddy back to see a doctor." "Okay," Aiden nodded as he said.

"Don't you want to take a nap?" Athena asked gently.

Aiden shook his head and looked at Mia. "I don't want to sleep. I want to stay here and watch over my sister. She will feel safer when she wakes up and sees someone beside her."

Athena looked at him.

There was a hint of sadness in her heart.

It wasn't just Byron who lacked a sense of security now, but Aiden as well.

Aiden's little head was filled with an overly vivid imagination.

He had been to the place where Mia fell, and he might have imagined what would have happened if Herbert hadn't caught Mia in his mind.

"This time, Herbert did a great job. I need to carefully think about what reward to give to Herbert." Athena tried to lighten the atmosphere.

"Let it meet Mr. and Mrs. Ziegler," Aiden blurted out.

Athena was slightly taken aback. "Mr. and Mrs. Ziegler?"

"Yeah." Aiden nodded. "Every time we video chat with them, Herbert looks very sad. It must miss them a lot."

In the past, Aiden had always been emotionally dull, except for being close to his family.

Unexpectedly, he had changed so much in just one year.

He could even sense the needs of a dog.

"Okay, I will arrange it!" Athena nodded. "We can't reward it with food since the pet doctor already mentioned that we need to watch its weight." "Herbert is all muscle," Aiden said seriously, "It exercises every day, running around and swimming in the river."

Athena smiled. "Alright, Aiden, tell Mommy what Herbert likes to eat as a reward?"

"Herbert likes chicken legs."

"Got it!"

Outside the door, in the doghouse.

After Athena came back, Herbert went into its doghouse on its own.

At this moment, it was lying in the doghouse, but when it took a nap, it would open its eyes from time to time and look towards Byron's room. Not seeing him, Herbert would close its eyes in peace for a while.

Logan had already given it an extra meal at noon.

It had eaten two cans of dog food.

Athena came out of Mia's room.

Unaware of this, she took another can of dog food for Herbert.

The dog, who had been so sleepy that it couldn't keep its eyes open just a moment ago, suddenly perked up.

As if afraid of being discovered that it had already eaten two cans, Herbert pounced as soon as Athena poured the food into its bowl.
