Chapter 1801 Being Quite Vigilant

"He will have everything checked," Athena replied.

"That's good!" Martin nodded.

No one told Evie that Mia got injured, lest she would still be worried during her confinement.

At dusk, originally, Mia would have an activity to catch crabs with her friends, but because Mia was injured, the activity was forced to be canceled. Everyone had no opposition except Mia.

"Mr. Elijah Patterson is super powerful. I'm fine!" Mia waved her arm. "It's true. Mommy, let us go on playing!"

"No."

Athena didn't speak.

But Aiden spoke first.

"Aiden!" Mia shamelessly threw a tantrum.

She really couldn't stop being naughty all the time.

Aiden showed a serious expression. "You must rest for two days."

Seeing Aiden's serious expression, Mia drooped with her head down.

"I won't play with you! I'll go replace my father!"

Then Mia snorted and stepped over the threshold.

Calling Byron, Mia went to replace him.

Byron came out of the room when he heard Mia's voice.

"Father, I want to play by the river, but Aiden and my mom don't allow me!" She hugged Byron's leg pitifully and looked up at him, her beautiful eyes full of begging! Byron looked at Mia.

Suddenly, the picture of the miserable appearance of Mia, who lay on the grass with blood all over, flashed in his mind.

Byron immediately withdrew his gaze.

"Good girl, you got hurt today, so you are not allowed to play water. You can do it two days later, and I will accompany you, okay?" Byron squatted, hugged Mia gently, and patted her on the back. Mia was thin, so Byron could feel her heartbeat when his hand touched Mia's back.

Her heartbeat was very hard.

Byron was greatly comforted after feeling Mia's heartbeat and didn't feel fearful anymore.

What's wrong?

What's wrong with him?

Byron thought in annoyance.

"Okay." Mia's chin rested softly on Byron's shoulder. "Dad, you're shaking."

Byron froze suddenly.

"It's okay, I'm fine." Mia hugged Byron, patted his back with her small hands, and comforted him softly, "Dad, I know you want to protect me. I don't blame you at all, but even like you more!" Byron tightened his arms to hug Mia.

"Mia, I will never let you get hurt again," Byron said softly.

"Okay!" Mia's pleasant laughter came to Byron's ear.

To a certain extent, it quenched the burning anxiety in Byron's heart.

"What are you whispering? Can't I and Aiden listen to it?" Athena folded her arms and leaned against the door frame.

Standing beside her was Aiden, who was reserved.

"It's a secret!"

Mia released Byron and looked back at Athena and Aiden. "It's a secret between me and my father!"

Athena laughed speechlessly.

Out of the corner of her eye, Athena suddenly noticed the kennel.

Herbert came out of the kennel at some point and stood upright with a vigilant gaze at Byron and Mia.

Athena thought she misread it and was about to look over there.

"Herbert!" Mia shouted joyfully, left Byron's embrace, and ran towards Herbert.

Herbert immediately stopped being vigilant.

It slightly squatted down, with its ears flying back and tail wagging.
