My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup -
Chapter 1820
Chapter 1820 Everyone Loves Him
Sally didn't know that the yard she resided in was always the last to attend the morning prayers.
When she arrived at Elijah's yard, it was already empty.
On the floor lay two pairs of slippers, one larger and one smaller, neatly placed in front of Elijah's bed.
Sally found it both funny and annoying.
Just as she was about to say something, Elijah appeared behind her. He gently encircled her with his arms and then gradually tightened his embrace, leaning his head against her shoulder. "What's wrong?" Sally patted his arm gently.
"I met Adonis," Elijah choked. "He is not in good health, and I can't save him."
Sally's heart skipped a beat.
Earlier, Bob had a patient who asked Elijah for a medical opinion.
Sally had heard Bob say, "If Uncle says he can't save you, then there's no need to struggle."
Among the family, apart from the eminent doctors, Elijah was the most formidable.
"I should have come back earlier. Even if it were just three months earlier, there would still be room for a turnaround!" Elijah continued.
Upon hearing this, Sally became serious.
She gently pushed Elijah away, turned around, and cupped his face, looking at him seriously. "Elijah, matters of life and death have no if. It is not your fault." Elijah's eyes turned red.
He looked profoundly sad.
"I don't want Adonis to die."
The obsessiveness at Elijah's first half of life began with the day he saved Sally from nearly drowning in the swimming pool.
He then thought that he considered an evil thought and resolutely left the monastery, waiting futilely day by day in a seemingly hopeless situation.
Until last night, it was the only obsessiveness in his life.
Now, he had another one.
He knew that life and death were predetermined, yet he still didn't want Adonis to die.
"I understand how you feel." Sally embraced Elijah, gently patting his back. "Let's use the best treatments. We'll use alternative medicine when it's appropriate or whatever is necessary. And we'll do whatever it takes to keep Adonis alive for as long as we can!"
"I've prescribed a treatment and had life-extending medicine sent from Dunlop City's pharmacy." Elijah held Sally tightly.
Her breath mingled with his, gradually dispelling his sadness and fear.
"But, Elijah." Sally traced Elijah's back in soothing motions. "Keeping Adonis alive must also ensure that he won't suffer, okay?"
Elijah trembled slightly.
The next moment, he held Sally even tighter, then nodded.
"You didn't sleep last night, did you?" Sally asked gently.
Elijah nodded again.
"Then why don't you go take a shower and get some sleep?" Sally coaxed Elijah, "Your main focus now is taking care of Adonis. Leave the volunteer work aside."
Sally hadn't attended the morning prayers.
She stayed by Elijah's side until he fell asleep, then headed to the dining hall for some food.
She hoped to meet Brett and inquire about Adonis' condition along the way.
However, she didn't encounter Brett.
Instead, she ran into Micah.
"Why didn't you attend the morning prayers?" Micah appeared on the path to the dining hall as Sally was walking there. He started with a rather stern question. His eyes were a bit red, as if he had been on the verge of tears.
He hadn't seen Sally and Elijah in the morning.
He knew Elijah would never miss or be late for the morning prayers, so he thought they had left.
"Elijah was taking care of Adonis the entire night. I just managed to get him to sleep. How could I possibly have time to attend the morning prayers?" Sally defended herself firmly.
Micah was shocked. "Father Adonis met Brother Elijah?"
"Of course!" Sally said with pride, "Elijah is so good. Everyone loves him."
